Episode 2 freezes after "Mr. Toad"

Hello. The game always freezes after Bigsby says "Mr Toad" at the begging of Episode 2. I've already deleted and re downloaded the game, but i I got the same result. I have Slim PS3, the system software version is 4.55, the game version 1.01. The hard drive has 260 gb free.

After looking over your issue, and the information you have provided, it sounds like your save file is unfortunately corrupted. I recommend deleting your save data, as well as delete the game from your system, and any associated files on your console. (Save Data, and Game Data Utility) Then re-download the game, and make sure you are connected to the internet the first time you start the game to make sure you receive the necessary updates and patches to run the game successfully. Then re-download Episode 2, and play through again. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Please help, I have done all the above, deleted everything, updated the patch, still freeze after Mr Toad....

Can you please clarify if you are playing the disc version, or the digital download version of the game? Also, if you are playing the digital download version of the game, have you made sure to download the latest update available for the game?

  • It's an old thread, but I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to play the downloaded version of the game. It froze the first time I tried to load episode 1, but after a restart it worked fine. Now it's done the exact same thing at the start of episode 2. Bigby says "Mr. Toad" then nothing. PS3 Slim, latest firmware and the latest update for the game. Help?

My apologies, if you are already updated to the latest version, and are also on the digital download version of the game, you may have received an incomplete or corrupted download file of Episode 2. I recommend deleting and re-downloading the episode from the Playstation Store, then see if you are able to play the episode successfully.

If the issue persists, you can also try Restoring your PS3's File System and see if you are then able to start the game without experiencing a freeze. (Please make sure to read over the notes in the above page explaining that this process does not delete any games or content, but messages/custom music playlists may be reverted back to their original state.)

  • Yeah, I've tried all that and it worked, I got past the "previously on" section then it froze at the next loading screen about five minutes in. Will it work any better if I go and buy the physical disc version? I'm prepared to do that if it'll let me finish the game.

Could you please clarify if you experience the same freezing issue if you start Episode 2 on a blank/New Save Slot? If so, you may have received an incomplete or corrupted download file of Episode 2. I would then recommend deleting and re-downloading the game from the Playstation Store (This will not harm your save files) then start the second episode again, and you should not experience the issue.

  • Yeah, same issue every time. I've actually got the physical disc version of the game now. Completely deleted my save and tried to start episode 2 again. Still freezes after "Mr. Toad". I'm going to go ahead and assume I've wasted money buying 2 versions of the game now since it seems I'll never get to play episode 2.
