The Wolf Among Us - Episode 3: A Crooked Mile IGN Review (MINOR SPOILERS! :D)

Well, I was searching for reviews of episode 3 and I found that IGN had posted one about an hour ago... except that it doesn't work and takes me to a 404.

However, I have been able to find snippets of the review from looking through google.

"Halfway through the first season of A Wolf Among Us, A Crooked Mile represents a new high point in Telltale's story."

"The Wolf Among Us Episode 3, titled A Crooked Mile, zooms the camera out and provides some of the most meaty, memorable moments of the ..."

"Well, I'm happy to report that A Crooked Mile makes every second of Bigby's 90-minute story count. Entering the apartment of an ancient witch and meeting the one person in Fabletown who still clings to the old world brought a really powerful sense of magic ..."

The last one has the most info in it, and I'm really hoping Frau Totenkinder makes an appearance this episode. Still disappointed by the length though.

  • 90 mins... yeah, new norm confirmed. I'm off to play Long Road Ahead and remember the good ol' long, depressing days before dusting my Fabletown sheriff badge tomorrow. Let's see if all this hype wasn't just smoke and mirrors. ;)

  • I saw the article... I didn't read all of it, but the score was "9,2- Amazing"

  • sounds awesome can't wait I have noticed TWAU episodes are shorter than TWD. Hope they aren't rushing TWAU

  • Faith was almost as short as All That Remains, IIRC, but it didn't stand out as much to me. The opposite happened with these series' respective second episodes. Let's see what tomorrow -and the rest o the year for that matter- brings.

90 minutes?! If it's as long as the first episode or house divided then I'm happy but if it's anything like episode 2's length then I'll be pretty bummed. But That 9.2 sounds pretty damn promising!

Yeah, it is of the sameish length as those two.

  • But IGN's score for games of Telltale always us high, for The Walking Dead (Season 2) and The Wolf Among Us never less than 8.0

    Still sounds amazing, though :)

I felt Faith was a bit longer, personally, at around 1 hour 40 - 2 hours (likely closer to one hour, 40). But yeah, Smoke and Mirrors was shorter, around an hour and a half.

So, yup . . . expect every episode to be around an hour and a half, then there are no disappointments. The way I look at it, we bought five movies that each continue a story and ones that are replayable due to the interactive elements (even if they don't matter much and don't lead to many differences) :) Albeit shorter length movies, but it still stands.

Looking forward to playing the episode, though I didn't have problems with the 2nd episode.

Edit: oh, for contrast and for anyone interested, IGN gave episode 2 an 8.5 and episode 1 a 9.

  • So episode 3 is slighty better than 1 (In their opinion of course.)

  • Man, I can't wait. I can tell that it will be awesome. The shit will hit the fan hard in this episode.

@bubbledncr (who works as a animator for Telltale) did say that Telltale try to make a episode around 90 minuets long so that players can finish a episode in one sitting.

Also, I forget which series we started this one (I've worked on way too many), but it was decided a few years back that about 90 minutes was our goal for game play length - mostly because we feel like our games are best experienced when played in one sitting.

  • Oh, by the way, if you haven't checked the release date thread out and you own the game on Telltale's store, you might want to check to see if the 3rd episode is available now. :) I have to wait for Steam to release, unfortunately, so around 8 - 10 hours. (Hope it'll be sooner though.)

  • Review link no longer works, sadly.

Glad to hear that they thought so highly of it though!

  • Aww man, just 90 minutes again?!
