Great episode, but...

edited April 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

Am I the only one that feels that something is... wrong?

I mean, the episodes are great, the storyline is great, but it seems that this is not the path that TWAU was suposed to take.

Look at the preview trailers, the sliders change, the achievements names and pictures... They don't seem to have any relation to the actual storyline.

Look at the "Severe Case of Lycanthropy" achievement, for exemple, it doesn't have anything to do with the Witch or the Tree!

What do you think?

  • It's their story, they have every right to change and adjust things as they go along. To be honest, so long as they deliver quality content like this episode was, I don't really care if the preview trailers don't match up with what's in the actual episode, or the other things you've mentioned. I can't tell if it's intentional on their part, so as to keep us guessing, or what, but frankly, what does it matter?

  • yeah i'm pretty sure they changed the story majorly since none of the achievements made any sense :P

  • Agreed. Also, the fact that Detective Brannigan didn't show up this episode tells you that there were substantial rewrites.

Add "Belly full of stones" and "What big eyes you have" to that mix as well. Hell, add all the achievements from ep 3 for that matter! I felt the same way while playing this episode, definitely a big part of the episodes was rewritten. All we can hope is that it wasn't better than this.

Maybe TT will reveal it to us once the season is over?

  • Agreed. Rewrites or not, it was a pretty awesome episode. And I really don't care about achievement titles either. If there were rewrites, it was probably for a good reason.

  • Belly full of stones fits with the shotgun blast, I guess.

  • Well, I kind of like that there were rewrites. If they rewrote everything time and time again, that shows they're really trying to make this series good. I'm happy for the rewrites because they didn't think the story was up to par so they keep trying again and again until they get things right. It's far better than releasing the first draft of a story that wouldn't have turned out too great.

  • It seems like a lot of the achievements only make sense to readers of the comics. I know what a bunch of them mean from reading the comics .And I know a lot of things, such as I already knew the mirror could repair itself in a few days time, before anyone in the game could say anything about it. Hope it helps!

  • What was the What Large Eyes you have? I'm glad that it didn't mean Nerissa's death, that would have sucked!

  • Yeah... I guess so

  • Yeah, I agree.

Would like to see something about the original script, though. Just for comparisons, if you know what I mean.

  • I think I read somewhere, that they do all these re-writes,so we'll have no idea what's going to happen next. Which does sound like a cool idea.

  • The events in the story at the time were shocking/frightening to her. Therefor, she had big, shocked eyes.

  • Few changes in story and achievements are total mess. Not a problem for me, but TTG did better with TWD achievements. Anyway, check this. Switch the titles. It'll make sense. Image with Bigby at hotel reception matches "Can I Get Fresh Set of Towels?". Second image in fact belongs to the latest episode; Holly, bridge and "No Respect for the Dead" = it's about Lily's funeral.

Yeah, it looks like originally the Tweedles were meant to crash Lily's funeral at the end of Episode 2. I imagine Bigby was meant to go back to the business office to meet Snow and find out that Crane threw Lily down the Witching Well, as per the trailer.

  • I feel really uneasy about the fact that they've rewritten the story, even though I like what we're getting. It's going to drive me crazy wondering what could have been! Also it's a shame Detective Brannigan got cut.

  • The original story of the episode was changed

  • The Huff and Puff achievement was also a bit weird, it was based on a poster on a wall.

  • Don't feel uneasy. Most of, if not all, stories go through rewrites. It's the nature of this sort of thing. The only thing that's kind of interesting is that the rewrites happened after the first episode and not before it.
