Why did the man in the car ...

edited April 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

Leave Bigby and Snow alive? By the time Bigby was down, Bloody Mary could have simply finished off both Bigby and Snow. He clearly meant business when he brought the twins and the murderous Bloody Mary. So why did he hold back?

  • For reasons unknown.

I think he was just after Crane and didn't really care about Bigby and Snow, and once he got Crane, reasoned that there was no need to kill anyone else. Bigby wasn't getting up from that, and Snow... yeah, she wasn't gonna pose a threat.

  • I know it's the Crooked Man, at least, that's what Bloody Mary called him. I didn't want to reveal that in the title so as to not spoil it for others who happen to see the thread title.

  • I'm thinking it's more than just a sense of holding back from killing unnecessarily, if he's indeed responsible for the deaths of two Fables. It looks to me like he has a use for Bigby and Snow. He's not done with them yet. That or he isn't responsible for the deaths and want Crane for some other reason.

It just seems like being too merciful. If I were a ruthless underworld boss, I'd just grab Crane, kill Snow and Bigby, and leave without witnesses.

  • Isn't it confirmed that this guy is the Crooked man?
Like bloody mary literally says "The crooked man lets you live" or something when he gestures.

  • I think we wouldn't have stoty if our heroes die : )

  • Wow that's amazing, how come I've only heard this now, it's been two months! Shouldn't this be EVERYWHERE!? I knew that guy had a moustache, I could see it in the car, his eye though damn that's creepy.

  • The reason you haven't heard about it is because that information was found by hacking into the game's files, which is a very touchy topic we aren't allowing discussion of on the site.

  • Can you please put a spoiler tag on that?
Some of us don't want to see cheated material.

  • I believe the Crooked Man will try to control Snow or anyone who takes Crane's place, just like he did with Crane. That's why Bloody Mary said the "out with the old, in with the new" line.

  • Yes, he is the Crooked Man. I refrained from using the name in the title so as to not spoil it for others.

  • Yeah I think so too. Bigby seems more expendable than Snow.

  • The telltale writers might have been just going for a 'cool scene', instead of a more logical one. Also, it is not like the writers can just kill Bigby off, as he is the main character in the game. I could be wrong though, maybe the Crooked Man has some reason for letting Bigby live? :/ Seriously though, when I was pressing Q at the end of that scene I was waiting for Bigby to hamstring Mary with a great swipe of his claws lol. My fervorous Q mashing had to be to no avail though...sigh...

The crooked man's obviously had Crane by the leash for a while. It's also what the witch meant when talking about power beyond Bigby and Snow's authority. Considering Mary's dialogue, they seem to want to continue whatever agreement they had with crane through Bigby and Snow. Obviously, it won't be that simple, but they probably felt they showed enough force there to show Bigby and Snow what they were capable of.

  • Absolute victory without any risk isn't any fun. Maybe he's just playing with him.
