I believe the correct method of identifying them is to "strip them down to their johnnies"

In order to tell one from the other I beat Dee up in the cell so that later on I could get a clearer idea of who is who. xD

Dum's shirt is a little bit more yellow than Dee's. But yeah, distinguishing them by their hats is easier I guess.
I don't think that's a Fedora. They have longer bills or rims or whatever they're called. I think those are called pork pie hats. I think the other is called a newsboy cap. But I'm no hat expert so I could be wrong lol
Let's see: Dee is the one that talks a lot, it's pretty obvious that he loves the sound of his own voice. Hence the many opportunities given to us that involve punching him, in order to make him shut up for a few seconds.

Both Dee and Dum have a full set of teeth, but if you take Dee to the cell for questioning and beat the sh*t out of him, then he looses most of his front teeth. Dum? Well, you never really get to have that kind of fun with him up until the end of EP3.
