Can't Access Saves?

Hello, I recently downloaded episode 3 of season two. About half way through, the game crashed. Didn't seem like a big deal, because that happens. Well, I boot the game back up, and it acts like I haven't played through episodes 1 or 2. I figured maybe it was a save file problem, so I would switch files. I click on switch files, and "Save File B" Shows up, but then nothing happens. I can't choose another one, and I can't back out. I'm stuck on this screen. The only way out is to cancel the process. The weirdest thing is that when I click on "My Choices," everything shows up. So everything is clearly there, I just can't access it. Any ideas?

Can you please clarify if you are playing on PC or Mac? Also, are you playing the Telltale Version, or the Steam Version?

I apologize for the inconvenience, please read this Sticky on how to run our Support Tool, and follow the steps to run the tool, and reply to this email with the download link copied and pasted into this reply. You can find the Sticky here:

(Hyperlinks are not currently working, so please copy and paste the above link into the address bar of your browser, and hit enter)

After receiving the information from your support tool, we will be able to assist you further. Also, please check if you have Steam cloud saves enabled. (You can check this by right clicking on the game in your Steam library, clicking properties, and click the updates tab. Near the bottom of the page, you can see if the Steam cloud is enabled for The Walking Dead: Season 2.) If it is enabled, does disabling it, and restarting Steam allow you to access your saves?

  • After following the link, when I click on the download button, it says "The requested URL /djndb/ttg/twd/TWD_PC_Support_Tool.exe was not found on this server." So I couldn't download it.

No, disabling steam cloud and rebooting steam didn't change anything.

Please try disabling any anti-virus or internet firewall programs you may have open and running that may be blocking the download of the support tool from starting successfully.

My apologies. Links are only broken on new posts, and old ones should still work. If you are unable to download the support tool using your current web browser, I recommend trying from another browser, and seeing if you are then able to successfully download and run the support tool.

  • I tried Chrome and IE, neither of which could load it. Virus protection was turned off, and no popups were blocked. I also tried it on my tablet just to see if it'd load, and it also said the page couldn't be found. It's only when I click on the link that says "TWD PC Support Tool." The link to the "instant filehoster" works fine. And even when I right click on it and save as an application, it says "no file found." So Idk what's going on, but somehow, it's not finding it.

Can you clarify if you are saving the file to your computer, or trying to open it from your browser? You will need to click on the download link, and then click Save. Then after it has downloaded to your computer, you will then double-clilck on it to run the batch file, and it will collect the necessary data for us to assist you.

  • When I click on the download, nothing happens. It takes me to a blank page that says it doesn't exist. It says the file isn't even there, so it won't let me download it.

I'm having a similar issue. I backed up my game since I built a new computer and now when I try to restore it to play episode 3, it has the lock icon next to my choices and seems as though I haven't played season 2 at all. When I select play, there isn't a file to use to load. I really don't want to have to go through everything again. Hopefully what the tool found will help: http ://www.sendspace.com/file/jod9nf

After looking over your support tool information, I do not see your Season Two save files in the file directory. Can you please clarify if you carried over your save files? Also, can you please clarify if you had Steam Cloud Syncing turned on for the game? If it is enabled, does disabling it, and restarting Steam allow you to access your saves?

  • I'm also having the same issue. I got my season 1 saves by reinstalling the first season, but now it's just my season 2 files missing. Is there a way to get those back, or should I just start replaying season 2? Here's the info from the support tool. http ://www.sendspace.com/file/tirdyq

It doesn't seem like your save files are present in your Documents/Telltale Games/The Walking Dead Season Two/ folder. Can you please clarify if you are playing the Steam version of Season Two, and if you are, do you have Steam Cloud Syncing enabled? My apologies, if you can, please run the Support Tool program again after you have Steam Cloud Saves disabled, and reupload the new file, and reply here with the download link again, and I should then be able to assist you with your issue.

After looking over your support tool information, it doesn't seem to be a file structure issue. Can you please clarify what changed between the last time you could see your saves, and now? Did the game update, or did you move or alter any game files?

  • I have the same issue on my PS3.

All major choices up to the first or second of Episode 2 are gone, and when I tried to change the save file (I assumed it was a wrong file), there was only this:

    SAVE FILE B

After you enter this, you can't do anything, the music keeps running, but you can't go back or enter the save file.

I already deinstalled the game on PSN and installed it again via the PSN Store. It did not help.

  • Same problem. Any new information?

I apologize for the inconvenience. We have had a few reports from players experiencing this issue, and are currently looking further into the root cause of the issue. We hope to have a resolution in the near future. Unfortunately at this time, the only workaround is to upload your saves to the Playstation Online Storage and start a new game, or delete the Save Data Utility for the game from the Save Data Utility menu on your PS3's XMB, and start a new game in Season Two. Again, my apologies for any difficulties this may cause you, as we look further into the issue.

  • Thank you for your help.

I will try deleting the saves and see if I then can start a new game.

If so, I will let you know, maybe it helps the case.
