His Fate (massive spoilers unless you've read the comics)

Warning: Massive spoilers unless you've read the fables comics up to current issue.

I love the Wolf Among Us and most telltale games and I'm currently reading through the Fables comics, I'm currently at the 4th paperback. I was looking through some general information on Bigby to better understand the character and accidently spoiled something for myself that I can't seem to find a lot of info on. The information I'm referring to is in fact a line that said Bigby is dead.

Now the reason I made this post is because I would be very grateful for some explanation hopefully from people who have read the comics up to that point. Is Bigby really dead or is it some sort of plot twist that will likely come up and/or has already happened? Or does anyone have any theories on what this might mean, if he's actually dead or if he'll come back.

I understand that the truth might be nobody will know for sure until the last issue is published sometime during early 2015, but even speculation would be useful.

    He got turned into glass and shattered, and the last time we see him he's in the after life deciding whether or not to go back. He'll hopefully show up again later.

    So it's his choice if he'll return on or not?

    If that's the case I have to assume they're going to pull a Bigby returns and saves the day moment in one of the issues.

    First the witches have to re-build him though, and he was shattered into a million pieces, including bits of dust. Plus, someone stole part of him and used it to make a ring (I won't spoil who), so until they find out about that they can't finish him.

    Ah, so it's actually a ongoing thing instead of just a "he's dead now"
    Hopefully he'll actually be brought back, it would be a bit wierd for him not to if it's an ongoing plot. Besides hasn't Bigby died multiple times before and been brought back?

    It's not that Fables come back to life from their popularity, in universe it's theorised, but not stated, that popularity makes a Fable harder to kill. So Bigby has definitely been close to death before, such as TWAU Episode 3 and fighting Goldilocks, and recovered fully. But yeah, it's an ongoing plot in the current storyline.

    He'll be back. Not only is it foreshadowed, there's a prophecy specifically foretelling that he will die several times before his last child does, obviously implying that he returns to life between each death.

    In issue 137 (If I'm not mistaken. It might be 138 if I'm wrong), it follows the point of view of Bigby's cub Winter. Winter talks about how she can specially be pretty much everywhere now that she's the north wind. She decided to stay out of Fabletown because she knew that her winds made everyone cold and didn't want her mother's friends to be cold and uncomfortable. She was also sad that the fact that her Dad was dead as a statue there and never really wanted to be reminded. At the end of the issue, she states that she wished she did pay more attention to the place, since she was unaware how horrible the end result would be when her Dad came back. (I am assuming that Bigby's coming back and there might be something fishy going on with Leigh (Mrs. Spratt) who has a small piece of the glass on her ring. She might be able to control Bigby, which is not good. This is all speculation on my part.).

    Don't worry, Bigby's fate is known, and there's no way he can be permanently dead for various reasons. Read "The Destiny Game".
