Fables comics.

So I recently finally found a place that sells comics, and since I've been wanting to get into The Walking Dead comics for a while I picked a couple up. By TWD comics I saw the Fables comics. So I was just wanting to know where should I start? There were so many, I just didn't know where to start without giving too much away if I picked up one that was later in the series or something.

Multiple examples of where to start would be appreciated since these kinds of stores tend to not always have the first issues.

    Start whit issue 1 BUT if they have the deluxe version (Books whit issues) buy that

    Fables consists of smaller storylines, and any of them would be a good place to start. Since you have played the game, you will understand most of whats happening from the get go, and it will only be stuff from earlier storylines you wont know. On the Wiki page you can see the story arc with the name and number of issues from each story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fables_(comics)

    Here are some of my ideas for where to start off.

    issue 14 - Storybook Love
    issue 19 - March Of The Wooden Soldiers
    issue 30 - The Long Year
    issue 48 - Wolves
    issue 56 - Jiminy Christmas
    issue 73 - War and Pieces.

    If the comicbook store doesn't have the first issues you could find them online and read them there up untill the ones the store has.

    I want to read them so bad but I swear no one has them or even HEARD of them. :( About ready to just buy online! They look great. :)

    Thanks man! Though im anti buy off online (if that made any sense with the way I worded it) especially since Ebay just recently admitted to being hacked and is strongly urging all their users to change their passwords. I like good ol fashioned physical copies any way. I know I saw "Storybook Love" there along with many others. I really want to know more about Snow and Bigby, and Cinderella since they have hinted at her for the last 3 episodes. I just love how dark my childhood stories truly were.

    Also if they have Bloody Mary in the Fables comics I really want to see more of her.

    With out giving too much away, does the first issue show how they got to the city or are they already there and you keep getting references through out the series of how Fabletown came to be? With so many characters I'm very curious as to where the creator of Fables said okay heres where we begin.

    I would buy the volumes, it saves a little bit of money and is easier to keep in a collection. Start with volume one and go on with that. If they don't have it but have others, you could probably buy them but you wouldn't understand too much, nor would you have the bonds that develop for certain characters toward the beginning. What ever you want to do, man.

    They're already there, like in TWAU, although there are flashbacks to the events that led them there.

    Ok I figured that out as hit enter when I remembered that twau is a prequel. That's one of the biggest questions on my mind about the Fables universe is how they ended up here.

    Bloody Mary is not in the comics, she is a Telltale creation. I also recommend that you get the deluxe editions, each book is hardcover and costs 20 or so dollars each on amazon. I think each deluxe edition has 8 to ten issues (I'm sure if you find them on Amazon such information would be in the product description anyway).

    Aw man. Oh well the comics for it still look awesome.

    Damn only 20 bucks? That's only 5 bucks more than a volume of twd.

    (Bloody Mary isn't a Telltale creation though if you meant in the fables universe then yeah I get what you meant)

    Yeah, you're told why pretty early in the comics, I'd recommend buying the volumes by the way, easier than buying separate issues, it's how my friend's reading through them right now.

    The only special issue I remember reading is 1001 Nights of Snowfall, which explains a lot of the in-universe backstories of various characters, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the reason they left. I'm not even sure where it takes place chronologically... But yeah, if you can buy them, do so, they're a great read. Definitely start at the beginning though.

    Actually 1001 Nights of Snowfall explains how they left and explains why relatively. But the best place to start is with the 1st volume.

    Not exactly. Different story arcs tend to follow different characters, but Volumes tend to hold more than one story arc. The first story arc follows Bigby and Snow. The second follows Snow and Rose Red. Eventually it gets to other characters such as Flycatcher, Boy Blue, Cinderella, etc. You're probably best off just reading the first volume and going to the second, then the third. A lot of things that happen in the beginning are sometimes (Though, not so often) referenced later in the series. So starting from the beginning would help with that.

    Ok. How many volumes are there? I cant remember if it was TWD or Fables that somebody told me they were almost up to 150 issues. Regardless Ill have a lot to read up on im sure.

    8 volumes consisting of 69 issues. The ninth volume will be released in October. Up till now 140 issues have been released. The best strategy is buying volumes 1-9 and issues 82-150.

    It also depends on the type of volume. Hardcover deluxe volumes, or softcover story arc volumes.

    I have the latest issues on digital so I don't need the volumes. The only other title I remember is Babes in Toyland and I know there was one after that.
