season 2 upadting content? [SPOILER!] (gamebreaking glitch?) (Moved to support)

when I loaded the game up recently, and went to play it, It gets stuck after I click play, It just keeps staying on the updating content screen, I was playing it last night, I had gotten to the part where who you decided to sit with at dinner and i had quit after that. I tried reinstalling it, and verifying the content cache and running it in admin mode, but it still gets stuck. Anyone know how to fix this?

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please make sure that you are connected to a strong internet connection when starting the game to make sure that you are receiving any of the updates and patches necessary to run the game.

You can also try deleting your SyncFs folder from your C:\Users\%Username%\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead - Season Two\ file directory, and then restart the game, and you should receive any of the necessary updates to make Episode 2 available to download. If this does not resolve your issue, please read this Sticky on how to run our Support Tool, and follow the steps to run the tool, and reply to this email with the download link copied and pasted into this reply. You can find the Sticky here:

    http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/44150/twd-support-tool-for-information-gathering

After receiving the information from your support tool, we will be able to assist you further.

Can you please clarify if you have the game set to 'Always keep this game up to date' from inside your Library? To do this, please right click the game from within your Steam Library, and click Properties. Once on the properties menu, click on the Updates tab, and under the Automatic Updates section, make sure 'Always keep this game up to date' is selected from the drop down menu. You can also try verifying your game cache by following the same steps and right click the game, then click Properties. Then click on the Local Files tab, and click 'Verify Integrity Of Games Cache'. This will take from anywhere between a couple minutes to 20 minutes depending on your internet connection.

  • yes, I have done both of those steps, and the problem still persists. It also gets stuck on the save selkect page, It always gets stuck on slot "b".

  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

Can you please clarify if you quit the game while an autosave or loading message was on the screen? If you quit the game during an autosave, your save files may have become corrupted. If this is the case you may need to delete your save files either from within the game, or inside the games save directory.

  • I may have, I had quit after I accidentally chose to sit with the new group over kenny, I cannot access the save files from the game, as it gets stuck there tooo, It always gets stuck on slot B

My apologies. Your save games may have become corrupted. I recommend deleting the prefs.prop file and saveslot files from within your

C:\Users-\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead Season Two

save directory, then start Season Two again. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

And the the support tool isn't working
  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please try downloading the support tool again, and double click it, and make sure to allow it to run if any pop ups stop it from running. It will then appear as a black Windows Command box, and will run in the background for 5-10 minutes. Please allow it to run until it is done collecting the data. It will then output a .zip file, and then you will be able to follow the later steps of uploading that file to sendspace.com, and copy and paste the download link to that file in a reply to this thread, and I will then be able to assist you.

  • Thanks so much for your help! Here is the link http://www.sendspace.com/file/a2hftc

  • Also, when I try to delete the files they reappear again when I try to start the game.

Please check if you have Steam cloud saves enabled. (You can check this by right clicking on the game in your Steam library, clicking properties, and click the updates tab. Near the bottom of the page, you can see if the Steam cloud is enabled for The Walking Dead: Season 2.) If it is enabled, does disabling it, and restarting Steam allow you to access your saves?

Also, when I try to delete the files they reappear again when I try to start the game.

  • Ah Ha! Yes! Thank you so much!

  • TelltaleMikeTelltaleMike Former Telltale Staff

My apologies, please try changing the download region from which your update is coming from. To do this, please click View on the top left of the Steam window, and click Settings from the drop down menu. Once the Settings window is open, click on the Downloads tab, and under the Download Region section, try switching to a different region using the drop down menu. Then close the Settings window, and restart Steam before attempting the update again.

  • Hey i have a little question! i didn't know that there is a DLC for season 1 so if i bought it and played it, will it overwrite my season two save?

If you purchase and play the DLC, 400 Days, you will need to re-import your newly created Season One save into Season Two. If you choose to do this, you can import it into a different save slot, that way you can keep your saves you already have in Season Two, safe.
