Season 2 is very unlikely
"If The Walking Dead got a second season, why shouldn't Wolf Among Us?"
1) The Walking Dead put Telltale in league with AAA developers - giving the indie company with a wacky business model a spotlight unlike anything it's ever seen before. Wolf Among Us has continued Telltale's success for sure, but it hasn't revolutionized it.
2) The Walking Dead is in the comic universe, but based off of different characters that run parallel to the comic ones. Wolf Among Us on the other hand is a prequel that uses the same characters as the comic, thus limiting Telltale severely from a creative standpoint. The nature of The Walking Dead allows for limitless potential in storytelling, whereas the Fables universe is much more contained.
3) Borderlands and Game of Thrones are on the way from Telltale - with Game of Thrones already being confirmed as a multiple-season series and Walking Dead most likely getting a Season 3. Plus an unannounced project from Telltale in the pipeline, as confirmed via Twitter a while back.
Episode 5 is going to be the last. Hopefully it's worth it. We want a 2 1/2 hour episode with lots of action, difficult choices, and branching consequences. You started with a bang, now let's go out with one.

what do you mean the characters limit telltales creativity? most of the things in twau are more creative than twd, if anything i have to say i am much more interested in twau than twd right now, also sam & max got about 4 seasons if i am correct, and i don't doubt it was a good game but it didn't really put telltale on standards with AAA developers
Season 2 is very likely. As I said elsewhere concerning this, Telltale is out to make a profit. I would dare say they've most likely achieved that with TWAU. They've acquired the license to produce these, and are not about to throw the license away after just one season! It all depends on the popularity of the actual game. Jurassic Park The Game is a prime example of this. It flopped. Hard. There is very little chance of Telltale bringing a season 2 to Jurassic Park unless they are completely and utterly confident they can bring something new to the table that won't flop.
Same was done with Back To The Future. Telltale moved onto more profitable licenses and they have greater creative control with TWD and TWAU. I'd imagine they are taking the same approach with Game of Thrones.
It be just downright maddening for Telltale not to do a season 2, similar to the madness that got Firefly cancelled!
The real question is not if there will be a season 2, but when. And it's very likely that there won't be a season 2 for quite sometime yet.
I honestly think the biggest reason this won't have another season is because of reason 3. Telltale struggled a lot when they begun to produce TWD S2 and TWAU at the same time for the first little while, and with so many other projects coming soon, I don't think TWAU will get a sequel unless they try to revive the series in a few years.
I really think its funny that The Walking Dead supposedly has more storyline potential than this. The zombie apocalypse universe is very repetitive. Thats what made me eventually lose interest in the comics.
There should be a season 2 for TWAU, but unlike season 2 of TWD, the playable character should remain the same. Just my opinion of course, but there it is.
I don't agree with any of your points.
1) Sam and Max is an example. Actually, I didn't like it, and tbh I think many others didn't as well, yet it got 3 seasons with a good piece of period for each episode. TWAU doesn't have to put TTG "back on their feet" to earn another season. At least, if they see a fair amount of people wanting another season, they'll make one. And I think that maybe only 2 or 3 don't want another season.
2) yeah, it's a prequel and they're limited, but that doesn't mean TTG can't divide the prequel into more than one season.
3) So despite all the upcoming games you mentioned, and without a confirmation from TTG - you're claiming a third season is most likely coming. This point of yours just removed your whole purpose
That's kind of my feeling too. Already TWD Season 2 seems very "samey" in tone. It really does seem to be struggling at the moment. It's still really good stuff, don't get me wrong, but it just feels more of the same at the moment. The same kind of beats and the same "let's create a feeling of choice by making the player decide who lives or dies.
On the other hand TWAU is really coming together nicely like a good noir story and every episode has felt a lot more tailored than TWDs. Each episode has had different kinds of choices built around what locations players visit and in what order - which has led to each episode having quite a different "feel" with each playthrough.
I'm definitely enjoying TWAU more at the moment.
I also expect with the Fables setting there are a lot of stories that can be told with the rather large cast of characters from the comics. It doesn't all have to revolve around Bigby. That's the appeal of the setting. The second season doesn't need to involve the same characters in lead roles.
I do think there may be a wait on the second season simply because Game of Thrones and Borderlands are up next. But beyond those game, who knows what the plan is. I don't expect to hear about season 2 TWAU until next year.
TWD S2's failure doesn't necessarily mean the same will apply to TWAU S2 bro.
It took them one year to make/ announce TWD S2. Therefore, if they plan on along another season for TWAU, it'll take them most likely a year as well. Within that year, they can finish GoT and TfTB, then start working on TWAU S2.
I don't care if Season 2 TWAU is made. With the general quality that Telltale is putting out recently, I won't be buying Season 2 unless the whole season has been completed and on sale for less than 10 bucks.
Telltale earned many accolades with S1 TWD, but in terms of quality and quantity, there is a definite drop with TWAU. It is slipping back to being a mediocre company making mediocre games and the quality and quantity will continue to slide should S2 TWAU gets made. I'll be staying away from future Telltale games.
the fucking big deal they did with game of thrones is maybe why they wont do other shit. that's a hefty deal. hopefully them being more interested in the GoT, wont ruin the walking dead last episodes and possibility of a third season (my favorite of TT, Wolf a close second) fucking they should do a merge for those upcoming games and keep their main in these two series.
Telltale is not an AAA developer. Telltale has grown step by step, and the idea that their business positively exploded with The Walking Dead isn't quite right. It sold really well, certainly, and we've seen a 50% forum activity increase. Speaking in mere percentages, Telltale has probably grown as much through TWD as it did through Back to the Future.
The Walking Dead, for all its merits, is a genre typical zombie story about a whole lot of people whose key motivation for each and every one is survival. The concept is unchanging and genre defining. THAT, I'd say, is far far more of a limitation than the prequel nature of TWaU is. Also, if TWaU is continued, nothing speaks against setting future Seasons after the comics.
I assure you, Telltale has dozens of unannounced projects. Particularly many projects for which TTG is just "in talks" with license holders but still has to present a comprehensive concept to those people about what exactly they'd like to do with the license. A good deal of projects that pose no licensing problems in principle, but are still just on the level of mind games. They could announce six right now, I'm sure of it. The probability of execution is another matter, though. As many of the old timers here well know, Telltale has already managed to announce a franchise and then would not deliver a game.
You just came here after TWD started obviously, it was a very different place before. The fans of the traditional adventure game were craving for Sam & Max episodes, and many of them still do although naturally they left this forum after the franchise and the puzzle game mechanics got abandonned. Most of these people came here explicitly because TTG acquired the Sam & Max license. And these were people who played the first LucasArts Sam & Max game in their youth - i.e. the 90s. So we're talking a lot of late 20s, mid-30s, early-40 gamers here. Judging from the recent "what's your age threads", the mean age of forum members has seen a total turnaround. We're easily having 50 to 60% teenagers on this forum. The "mature" license has actually brought a less mature audience.
Catering to such a young audience can be very rewarding, but it's also a fickle thing to do. The mature audiences are known to keep their tastes, the younger ones certainly are not. That particularly applies to The Walking Dead, which is very hip today but could bite the dust as soon as tomorrow. Telltale avoids that trap by jumping franchise ships early on - that is, elementarily, their concept. Sam & Max has seen three Seasons because Telltale could trust in the fans' 25 year devotion to that franchise. Today, what we see in these forums instead are single town cryers stating their undying devotion to The Walking Dead, and they are not exactly to be trusted in that.
I agree that TWaU Season 2 is unlikely, and that TWD Season 3 is more likely. But don't bet on anything yet. Maybe TWD ends forever in September. Maybe the Tales from the Borderlands crowd just doesn't accept Telltale's "story game" mechanics (remember what they are used to!). Maybe the Game of Thrones contracts are so restrictive that Telltale ultimately decides not to do Game of Thrones (we don't even have a forum for that yet). Maybe the impending end of the comic series gives The Wolf among Us such a popularity boost that Telltale might do a second Season. We can't know.
They won't doing season 2. Adam Harrington kinda confirmed it
https://twitter.com/HarringtonVO/status/472315032286400512
He did not "confirm" anything - besides, of course, that he concluded voiceover work for Season1.
And if he tried to "confirm" that there won't be a Season 2, he wouldn't have that knowledge or authority.
You make legit points but I don't want to believe it.
I disagree... TWAU is a very good game, with some really stand-out episodes. Sure, some episodes may have been average, but the average for TWAU is pretty damn good. And the above average episodes are just awesome.
I honestly don't see any reason why a season two couldn't happen. From what I've heard I think season one has sold pretty well, and while I had no knowledge of "Fables" before this game came out, I think there's still loads of story potential for a second season.
So, here's hoping!
I'll be very pissed if there's no season 2 I'm enjoying TWAU much more than TWD S2 atm, all the characters are so interesting & I love that we don't know what's gona happen next & I know a lot of other people feel the same so TTG would be kinda shooting themselves in the foot by finishing it permanently with ep5
Sam & Max only has 3 seasons (so far). There is still hope for a season 4 though...Please Telltale! Also Wolf would be great for another season as well.
The creator of the fables comic series has confirmed that Fables is coming to an end in 2015. So, TTG could make a sequel that comes after the comic series. You don't necessarily have to play as Bigby. Bigby and Snow have cubs in the comic so it could have something to do with them.
Bigby is dead in the comics.
Yeah but its heavily implied he'll be back
Bigby was meant to die 7 times before he stays dead, This is his 4th death. The lady of the lake stated that he will outlive his cubs and Snow.
I completely disagree. TWAU is an improvement on TWD first season. The first season of TWD was an appallingly sketchy story. It meandered all over the place as they kept making changes. It was a testament to the writing that they wrapped it up so well.
TWAU on the other hand feels like a strong consistent narrative, with a lot more variation to the story in each episode. It has definitely benefited from TWD and improved on it in nearly every way.
Season 2 TWD has been a bit all over the show again, but I still prefer it over season 1 TWD.
Sam & Max deserved 3 seasons (and hopefully a fourth)
A game with the cubs would be great, probably more of a comedic story.
I believe there would be one or two other Stories due to the Gap to the Comics. But when it comes then late i guess. Considering that S1 was planned in 2011 first..
I hope there is a season two! I love this game and I'd love to see more of the characters in the future. And I definitely think that there is a lot that they could do with this beyond just one season.
Also this could just be a typo but it says HERE that "the Collector’s DVD will be made available to you for the cost of shipping and handling once all five episodes of Season Two have been released digitally." Season two, not one? So yeah, could just be a typo but could mean something?
wait the walking dead game ends in September???!???!??!?! that much to end one season??? wow. well I do hope yall(I really don't know what a moderator is ha) continue the series, its awesome, but again depending of what yall have in mind story wise. me I love seeing a 16-18 yrs old clem cause it be awesome how the development would be for that character.
I don't know. I'm a voluntary moderator, not a Telltale employee.
It's a typo. Most likely because TTG copied the TWD site for that.
i wasnt quite sure about the wolf amung us when it came out, but after playing it, i really love the atmosphere of it, I definitely want to see more of this universe and the characters.
Yeah, I was afraid it would be something like that. Oh well. Thanks!
Yeah, Since we haven't seen much of Blossom and Connor it could focus on them.
ok damn it telltale should have someone here
Failure? Doubt most people consider the second season a failure. Its great.
no no I love it. I meant what TTG missed or mistook in the second season.
