I don`t get the Hate

Many people hate episode 4, but I don`t get it.
Honestly, it was my favourite episode so far.
Everyone says that there is little to no story progression at all, but I have to disagree.

We find out how lili and Faith couldve been killed. We know what Beauty and Beast have to do with it. We find out where they operate. We see who is involved in this Crooked Man mess. We fix the mirror. We find the Crooked Mans.
We see him!

So I don´t really get the hate on the story progression part. We even get an awesome fight agaainst the jersey Devil.

So could you please tell me, what was wrong with this episode despite the length?

  • Even if the length wasn't great it was still good episode.I also don't know why all the hate.I played it yesterday because I'm from Europe, and I was really dissapointed that people said it's complete trash.I thought it wouldn't be good if people say so,but they weren't right it wasn't worse than others.

  • Agree. They increased the suspense...and the episode maybe was not the best, but still enjoyable. :)

I liked this episode. I don't really get it either. I guess the bottom line is that no matter what, whenever a new episode comes out there will always be some people who are disappointed in it. That's the way it is with any game really. I did feel like the episode was a bit short and the ending was rather abrupt, but I still enjoyed it. It had some great moments in it, including one of my absolute favorite scenes out of the entire game so far.

  • I agree, I only disliked the abrupt ending and length, everything else was great and the choices you made with Beauty and Beast finally did mean something, much better episode than Smoke and Mirrors.

  • I think it was shorter because it was meant to prepare us for the last episode. The only things i didn't liked was that Colin and Toad forgot how we treated them before.

It had a really good ending, especially since i chose to smoke. but so far episode 3 has been my favourite.

  • ==-

Chose to smoke at the very end, in the crooked man's office? I didn't choose that. What happened? For me, they all just stood around and looked at each other. I thought it was a shitty ending compared to, say, snow's head chopped off or crane being a stalking 'vert. No suspense.

  • The same thing happened but with a ciggarette in his hand. It just looked really good, Bigby grabbed a smoke and just sat down, ready for whatever was going to happen. Bigby looked relaxed and gave no amounts of fuck about the people in the room.

  • I agree, we got a lot of information, but probably it was because it was lot of talking instead of, I dont know, going around kicking doors in?

  • What do you mean?

  • There were few doors to kick in (2), 1 fight, 1 big arrest planned, a lot of talking that lead to a lot of info. That probably sums up everything.

  • Well, in episode 1 we can make Colin hate us and we can make Toad be mad at us too if we hurt him in episode 1, beat Dee/Woody or if we try to rush TJ.

  • I threatened the crooked man and crew, loved bigbys fist hitting his hand at the end.

  • I don't think Colin hated Bigby. He might have been angry at him, but he clearly considers him a friend or he wouldn't keep running to him. Look at Gren he didn't stay mad at Bigby either. It's all a matter of the circumstances.

  • Yeah, but people don't seem to be happy with that and expect a lot more of it I guess.

  • For the most part I have a feeling most people that weren't to happy with episode 4 will realize more when they replay it or slow down a bit to listen to everything they can.

  • I did not hate episode IV, there are aspects that I did not like and I think episode IV was a low point however I still liked the episode. I won't re-write my reasoning here, follow this link if you are interested. http://www.telltalegames.com/community/discussion/72156/spoliers-my-thoughts-on-episode-iv-spoliers

  • Well, i was convinced by "?Colin now hates you".

  • I hope so. That does tend to be the case. The initial reaction is the strongest and people start to reevaluate and think, "maybe I was a little hasty." But for the most part, it does seem to have many fans who liked it too. I just hope Telltale understands that there are plenty of people who do.

  • Well Collin had to play his cards well anyway. Even though he wouldn't be a fan of Bigby he had to stick around. Read the comics and you will understand.

  • Ahh, you were mean to Colin, lol. How many times have you said you hated someone in a fit of pique and you didnt really mean it? It might be because I read the comics but Colin has a lot of reason to hate Bigby based on the three little pig story but he still comes to him as a friend. He might still be resentful and angry to some degree but for the most part, he forgives him. Doesnt mean he wont give him crap for it and rub it in every now and then.

  • I read the comics and i know why he is in Fabletown. It's just that he treats us exactly the same no matter how we treat him in episode 1. I was expecting him to at least remember us we didn't offered him a drink. Then again, maybe it was just the fact that he saw Bigby hurt and felt sorry for him.

  • I loved this episode. Much better than Episode 2 anyways. Really liked the final part where we find The Crooked Man and all of the people who work for him, the fight with Jersey Devil, finding Lawrence's dagger (reminded me of Faith) and the choices of sending someone to the farm.
