Which Line Hit You The Hardest?

In other words, what'd one of the characters say that brought out the most emotion in you?

Hearing Dee say "It's just a dead whore," at the funeral before the shootout was probably the most shocking for me.

    Episode 2 in Pudding'n'Pie.

Bigby: What do they call you now?

    Nerissa: Whatever makes them happy.

The way she said this was truly depressing.

Episode 3 (determinant: burning down Greenleaf's tree):

"I gave you all that you wanted. And you took everything from me. What kind of evil, tyrant monsters are you?!" (kind of)

I did it on my alternative playthrough and it still made me feel terrible for Greenleaf.

  • "I'M NOT YOURS TO LOSE!"

  • Yeah, Laura Bailey nailed that line!

  • Snow's lines hit the hardest, but so do Bigby's lines if looking from Snow's or Toad's point of view.

    Mine is

"I think you like it when things go wrong because it gives you an excuse to stop pretending.." - Snow

You know, A small part of me believes that shes right..

  • The ever famous "I'm not yours to lose!" At least she apologized I guess...

  • when bigby said "this shit will kill ya" at the soda machine. at that point i knew i had to be the best sheriff i could possibly be since bigby refused to drink soda.

  • In episode 3, the option to calm Gren down, as Woody walks out the Trip Trap-

"Cut it out, Gren. Lily is dead now and there is nothing we can do about it." Or, something like that. Just the way he looked at Bigby and left...ugh! Poor guy! :(

  • "Ah, protecting your friend....too bad you couldn't protect those whores!"

Few particular lines have really affected me emotionally as Bigby. It's actually kind of annoying how everyone seems to think they can influence me just by hamming it up. I know what I'm doing. Guilt-trips, threats, whining and melodramatics aren't going to change my mind, it's not my job to coddle or suck up to people.

The only exception is Snow chewing me out over torturing Dee, and that was because I really had been deliberately out of control following her "death". Her outraged "And that makes it okay?!!" really drives it home that I've lost some of her trust, which is pretty terrifying and humbling if you know how much she and the time they spend together really mean to Bigby. The point where he's realizing that Snow is okay and safe and with him again, but that his behavior when he thought she was lost might have cost him their friendship, is my favorite moment in any RPG I've ever played. The fact they're still sort of okay afterwards is heartwarming, too.

TJ's hysterical "But she didn't have her head on!" is also pretty heart-wrenching.

  • That line was delivered wonderfully.

    • Toad
  • ''Friends matter, i don't have any left...''

    Poor Nerissa...

  • "WHERE ARE YOU WHEN WE EVER FUCKING NEED YOU?!" - Gren

That line made me feel like shit....

"I will fix this, I SWEAR!" - Bigby

    That line was epic :o

    Oh, that one too.

It was definitely true for my Bigby, which was why he snapped at her for bringing it up. It's like poking a recovering alcoholic, asking if he'd like a drink right now. He only came to Fabletown and tried to change in the first place because she asked him to, dammit. He needs her support more than anything else to make it work.

  • You took everything from me. - Auntie Greenleaf.

Elderly women are a severe weakness of mine. Comes with being a mama's boy, I suppose. I played through the burn-the-tree scene once in order to get the Book of Fables entry. Every single line that Auntie Greenleaf said from there...

    NEVER AGAIN.

  • I forgot that I promised Holly I'd recover her sister's body, so it was like a punch to the gut when she went off on me at the funeral. I was truly so, so sorry.

  • I didn't really worry about what she had to say about it. She had it coming, in my opinion.

  • Snow's line was by far the most hard-hitting, especially given how soon it was after she showed up. I think the shock of her appearing made it even worse, and it definitely left me speechless. Apart from that, Toad's line if you choose to ask him to go to the Farm in Episode 4 - "Fabletown, for the Fables. What a crock of shite" (something like that) - was so well-delivered and made me really question my decision. But, the rules are the rules, and Toad had already failed on his promises.

  • Yeah , that one is pretty sad.

Especially if you know about Snow's backstory with the dwarves and all that.

  • I felt like that line could actually apply a lot to the players of many series by Telltale Games as many make bad decisions and try to justify their choices and actions.

  • I can't really remember it but it was during my viist to the Trip Trap whilst Holly was half-asleep. I think she says something like "You always know what to do Bigby," and that line for some reason just hit me so damn hard.

  • tiny tim- we need you but we need him too
that line kinda made me feel better towards the crooked man ...
actually the whole conversation with bigby and tiny tim was perfect

For me, It has to be Greenleaf's lines after burning her tree. Originally I had decided to let her keep the tree, but after I finished the episode I thought about what Snow had to say about it and decided she was right. I normally never go back and change my decisions, but I didn't really think this was a big deal.

After burning the tree and listening to Greenleaf flip out, I immediately turned the game off. Her lines were so powerful and real. It genuinely made me feel awful about what I had done. I decided to stay with my original decision after all.

The exchanges between Crane, Bigby, and Snow at the end of Episode 3 were really good too.

"Sheriff, when we have to find our way through life on our own, grasping in the dark... what I'm saying is friends matter. I don't have any left, so I hope you are taking care of yours." Or when Bigby and Collin are talking in the first episode, and when Collin tells Bigby that everyone hates him and he says "Better to be feared..." it sorta shows how alone Bigby is yet how much of a badass he is

  • edited June 2014

It didn't hit me emotionally but I loved Jersey Devil's line- 'He's not in your town, your in his. And he's sure as shit ready for you'

  • "so you're telling me you agree with everything Crane does?"
That was a pretty weak response to Bigby saying if Tim works for the crooked man, he's involved.

    No.1:
Bigby to the mundy police officer:
">I know this must be hard for you.< Do you? Do you f'cking know? Have you had a friend killed and their head left at your f'cking doorstep? ... No? Didn't think so..."
I mean come on... I really thought she's dead and then some police woman thinks she could understand how I/Bigby feel(s)?!

And of course Snow's: "I'm not yours to lose!"

  • "We have a great deal to discuss."
I then realized that everyone in that room (With the exception of Vivian and The Crooked Man) I had punched in the face.
