Help for a UK customer?

Hey, I haven't visited here for a long time, but as a student who has recently finished his final year of study, I am finally getting some time to relax again!

I am a student journalist and do some game reviewing online, for sites such as adventureclassicgaming. I have recently set up my own site and was hoping to purchase the super duper sam and max celebration pack.

However, when I click to add it to my shopping basket, it just takes me to an empty basket?! Works with other items.

Any advice? Also roughly how much extra would shipping cost to the UK?

Kind regards from a huge fan (you rock telltale games!)

Marty

Don't worry it seems to be fine now! although I am slightly worried whether there will be additional charges because of it being delivered all the way to the uk if i do order. (on top of postage I mean! Its times like these I wish I lived down the road from telltale!)

Ever since Telltale update their shipment centre I have no longer received custom charges, so you should be safe from extra costs.

I am about to order at long last, so do you think I am pretty safe from extra charges? (I am already paying a small fortune just for shipping )

As I said, I don't get custom charges from Telltale anymore, so you should be fine. :)

Some countries charge customs when the order is above a certain amount. You might want to check with customs to ask them what that threshold is in the UK.

Hmm I wish I knew! I have a coupon that saves me 25 dollars so I can get the sam and max celebration pack and the monkey island pre-order for a very respectable 150 dollars (just over £90) including shipping.

I shall have to try and find out that the threshold you mentioned is! I am all but ready to order but would hate to be hit with an extra charge at the moment. (I also need to check that my debit card works, as last time I remember I didn't order because it wouldn't work!)

Slightly worried because I have heard some people say the import tax could be 17.5 percent which is quite a large amount on top of my order as well!

OOh and another thing before I forget, is the t shirt in the deal only large with no other sizes? because I am a medium at best. I love telltale I wish they had a UK based site etc, I would be buying all the time!

Yes the shirt is a large. We can substitute it for you if we get your request in time before the order gets submitted to the warehouse, but with timezones etc. this can be tricky. You're welcome to try your luck - email us at support@telltalegames.com and ask if we can swap the shirt size - but if we're unable to do it before the order goes to the warehouse, unfortunately it can't be changed at that point.

You're correct that VAT is 17.5%. Check with your local post office, I'm sure they can tell you what the threshold amount is for incoming packages.

Okay well incase any future customers are interested, here is a breakdown:

Handling fee off royal mail can vary between £8 and £13.50

I then rang customs, and they said the price of the whole order, including shipping, is used to find out the VAT (15%, not 17.5% as I had thought.)

I then realised that my pre-order for money island would add to this even though it is not being sent physically, so I decided I will make that a seperate order.

So now it looks like this:

    $99.99 for the celebration pack
    voucher saves me : $24.99
Shipping is $44.30 (the cheapest, and still over half the price I am paying for the goods! gotta love international shipping.)

    Total: $119.26

So i converted 120 dollars into UK GBP using the current exhange rate (not taking into account the small amount my bank will charge, which i think is 2%)

This leaves a very respectable £73...a bargin!

Add the 15%... which is nearly £11...bringing the total to £84...not too bad...

And then a handling charge could be £8 or £13.50...bringing it to either £92 or £97.50

Total bummer! Especially as Royal Mail has a nasty habbit of delivering my items in pieces already! Overall could cost nearly £40 including shipping just to get the items here! Colour me dissapointed!

On a lighter note thank you Emily as always for being such a good representative of Telltale! Casting my eye over the forums it is obvious you have an active role in things and I really do think it makes a difference when compared to other faceless companies.
