Credit card charged after using MI pre-order coupon code.

When trying to use my Tales of Monkey Island pre-order coupon code to purchase Bone: Out from Boneville, my coupon code did not seem to be working. It would not reduce the total for my order to zero. I decided to enter my code again on the final page, and try to process the order, but it would not let me proceed without entering credit card information. I entered my card information (though I'm not sure why for a supposedly "free" game), and processed my order, with the coupon code in its appropriate location. The invoice, however, seems to indicate that my credit card is going to be charged for the full amount.

I posted about this in a reply to another thread here, but did not receive a reply.

Why didn't my coupon code work? Am I doing something wrong? How do I get my money back if my credit card has indeed been charged?

    Contact Telltale Support by email.

Tell them the situation and give them the appropriate credit card information, canceling your order.

Your coupon code has not been used. Not sure why it wasn't accepted. Did you get an error message?

I refunded the order and credited $8.95 back to you card. Sorry about that!

Nope, no error message! I just kept entering my code, and when I'd proceed to the next page, it wouldn't reduce the total.

And I've been copying and pasting the coupon code from the email, and then double checking it, so I've definitely been entering it correctly. Should I be leaving out the dashes or something?

ETA: Also, I just checked my games, and "Out from Boneville" is still listed there. Is that going to be removed since the order was cancelled and refunded? Should I try the purchase again with the coupon?

I think I may have figured it out on my own. For some reason, Internet Explorer 8 isn't showing the "apply coupon" button to the right of the entry field. I tried it in Firefox, and now I can see the "apply coupon" button. So although I had been entering my code previously, I couldn't see the button to apply it! It's entirely possible that this is a unique problem, as I've been having video issues (specifically flash and directx) on my system for some time now. I thought I had them sorted out, but perhaps not.

Anyhow, once you let me know what's going to happen with the copy of "Out from Boneville" that's still in "My Games", I'll try the order again through firefox, and it should work fine.

I left Out from Boneville on your account since that's the game you were trying to buy with the coupon. The order wasn't canceled, just refunded. So no need to order again.

(I'm also going to deactivate your coupon, since it's essentially been used at this point. :D)

Thanks for letting us know about the IE8 problem, we'll check it out!
