Telltale needs to confirm the correct ending
Or the confirmation of a second season, because all theories regarding the ending don't make any sense.
First Theory - You never actually meet Faith
Faith is murdered then Nerissa takes the hair of her recently deceased friend, puts it in a glamour tube, becomes "Faith", then goes on to have sex with Woody at the beginning of episode 1. So Nerissa has no problems having sex posing as her recently deceased friend? That doesn't seem plausible at all.
Second Theory - You never actually meet Nerissa
Okay, you meet Faith, she goes back to the Pudding and Pie, and then what happens next is dependent on two different scenarios: 1. Faith found the picture of Crane and Lilly, she shows it to Georgie, then somehow convinces her supposed best friend Nerissa into swapping their glamours effectively letting Nerissa get murdered as well as letting her husband Lawrence commit suicide. So in that scenario the M. Night Shyamalan twist is that OOOOHH Faith is actually evil. Or 2. Nerissa is the one who found the photo of Crane and Lilly, she shows it to Georgie, then knowing the imminent danger that places her in... decides to swap glamours with Faith. So in that scenario Nerissa is suicidal?
Plot holes are abundant.
Comments
Edit: My theory has changed. Nerissa was actually Faith in the beginning of Episode 1.
Like I said in my discussion, I feel that Nerissa was glamoured to be Faith at Toad's and found out that Bigby is a good person and would care whether or not Faith died and that's why she put the head on the doorstep
I feel like the first one makes much more sense personally.
So, why does she need to be glamoured till the final scene?
So let me consider one thing. You think that Faith in ep.1 was REALLY Nerissa and at the end too(Nerissa), right?
Probably because in her folk story, it's her thing to be in a disguise and slip away.
Yeah, maybe since Faith was killed before the woodsman situation they wanted to keep the murder a secret so they just sent Nerissa glamoured as Faith so he wouldn't know. and when it all happened and she saw how Bigby cared about her that he would look into the murder and eventually track down the Crooked Man and stop him
If Faith was glamoured as Nerissa the whole time, Nerissa would have been killed while glamoured as Faith; but why would she be glamoured herself like Faith? Just for being killed?
They would not hint about the autopsy being fishy and they wouldn't hint about the donkeyskin in the end if the real Faith wasn't alive. Also if it was real Nerissa in the end, why would she not tell Bigby that she was Faith for one night to catch his attention? She confessed to lying in the court and that she brought the head to the stairs, why not this?
It is clear that the Faith in the beginning was the same woman as the Nerissa in the end, the cigs, maneuvers, way of speech and phrases point heavily towards this. If they do any kind of a dlc or another season continuing from here it would not make sense that it was Nerissa the whole time either.
Faith is killed before Episode 1. Narissa says Faith walked in on her and Georgie talking about the blackmail. Georgie killed Faith then. The "Faith" that you meet in Episode 1 is actually Narissa glamoured as her. She meets Bigby and draws attention in order to get Bigby emotionally involved she wanted to make sure Bigby would care. Narissa is the one who puts "Real Faith's" head on the steps and starts the whole investigation.
Basically: We never actually meet Faith when she is alive.
Why wouldn't Nerissa tell this in the end? She has no reason to hide this, she tells that she placed the head so hiding this makes no sense. The dramatic "fade to black" doesn't make sense with this boring solution either, nor do the hints about autopsy being fishy nor the last line about donkey skin hiding her true beauty and escaping.
No, Telltale shouldn't.
We are the players, right?
We played as Bigby, an officer investigating on a murderer.
The game solved the mistery of the murderer, now is our turn to make our part.
Why does Nerissa have to glamour as Faith? Woodsman said he doesn't knoe Faith, but he very well knows Lily.
Why Nerissa wanted to be glamour as Faith?
My guess is that she didn't know, or was glamoured under false pretense. Maybe Faith knew Nerissa was going to rat them out about stealing the photo and then swapped. There is few reasons that are plausible. I don't know why Nerissa wouldn't tell the truth in the end if it was Nerissa the whole time, there's some bigger secret she isn't telling.
Because she wanted to cause a conflict to gain Bigby's attention.
Why would she not tell this to bigby in the end? It makes no sense at all after she confesses everything else that's bigger.
edit: im getting confused here, i think it was the real Faith that did indeed want a conflict. The head of Faith was glamoured, as it was strongly implied in the end.
Good point, and also the same as mine.In the end, first you get an idea that Faith is alive besides all of this, but some minutes after you keep thinking on that and you realize that Nerissa is the one in the beginning[Ep.1(glamoured as Faith)] and in the end too.
That makes sense because you started with Nerissa with glamour and in the end you are all by yourself with Nerissa(the real)
Beginning=End, if you know what I mean.
Also if it was real Nerissa in the end, why would she not tell Bigsby that she was Faith for one night to catch his attention?
Because the game finish with possible endings in our mind, but one is correct. The end don't tell you with certain if Faith was alive all this time, isn't that right?Same way with Nerissa's Story.
Why she didn't tell him? That's because in the end he could join the pieces together like you saw in the end(flashbacks). And she didn't need to tell him, you saw the flashbacks and make sense. She "forced" Bigby to think about the same phrases that she told when she was Faith.
It makes more sense if it's Nerissa all this time, but could be Faith.Maybe a dlc or next season will explain us.
Its already been stated on youtube that the reason for mentioning the autopsy was probably because Dr. Swineheart would have discovered the time of death, and it might have been discovered that faith was dead when she (Nerissa as Faith) met.
Stated by who? The last quote about donkey skin just points towards her escape. In general i don't think the "Nerissa was Nerissa and faith at start" is really a cliffhanger worthy of an ending. Still the biggest problem for me is that if it was Nerissa the whole time, why wouldn't she confess when she already confesses about lying in court and that she brought the head.
Hope this hasn't been too confusing. To me only a dlc/season 2 will bring peace.
edit: Lets say the last scene would continue 10 seconds rather than fading to black. The Nerissa is Nerissa solution would not really change anything. Bigby would ask about the time he met faith and she'd confess and nothing would really change. If it is Faith he'd catch her for many lies and there would be so many possibilities for many cool plot twists.
The ending is perfect though, for someone like me it opens up many possibilities. For people who want a definite ending it gives an option as well.
They don't need to correct anything, I like it when there's questions like this at the conclusion of a series, leaves it open to interpretation.
Plus I always found it fishy that we never saw Faith's body. Plus why was the lock of her purse broken at Georgie's? There's still many unanswered questions especially about her.
I think the funniest thing on this page is that people are saying they like one woman over the other, according to both theory's you only meet the one woman whether it be Faith or Nerissa

Ambiguous endings are crap. It's just bad writing. In the end, this game just turned out to be a funny punching bag/appendage tearing/murder simulator. It was only entertaining to see NPCs react to you terrorizing the other NPCs.
No they dont
