Any Fans of Ace Attorney? (Trials and Tribulations)

edited July 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

The ending of Episode 5 reminded me of the ending of Trials and Tribulations when Phoenix found out that Dahlia was Iris for the sum of his relationship. The writers are definitely fans of Ace Attorney, so I don't think it's far-fetched to think it was an homage

Also, I always thought that WAU should be structured the same way AA is (have four seemingly unrelated individual mysteries and then tie it together in the fifth episode)

I've been inspired

Yeah, that one was my favorite of the Phoenix Wright franchise. I believe Telltale's CSI did something similar to what you're talking about, with the deaths seemingly unconnected each episode but then most of them, if not all were connected.

  • Big Ace Attorney fan, and yeah I thought that too strangely enough. But I don't think it's an homage, Iris and Dahilia were twin sister while Faith and Nerissa are literally two different people (to our knowledge anyway).

Plus Telltale has been doing this episodic thing for quite awhile. And while I do get where you see resemblances they're not that much alike that you'd go "Ooooh..."

  • Just wanted to pop in and say i'm a big AA fan.

While it would be cool if it was a homage. Stuff like this has happened before, there is really nothing that shows it was ace attorney was it was similar but not the same.

To be honest, the whole trial thing with the Crooked Man reminded me of Ace Attorney:
CM: "You have no evidence linking me to these murders!"
Bigby: " Objection! We have a confession from Georgie!"
CM : "That no one besides you heard."
Judge: shakes head "I'm afraid, this is insufficent, Mr. Wolf."
Bigby: ("Is it really over? Will the Crooked Man get away?")
Hold it! Nerissa enters, Pursuit theme starts playing

  • Played it many times :)

  • That's true. My mind definitely went to Iris/Dahlia, though

And what Ace Attorney fan wasn't reminded of Ace Attorney when confronting Toad in Episode 1? I think Telltale was definitely inspired or some of the writers have at least played the games

  • Just finished Ace Attorney Investigations 2 with the Fan Translation Patch!

Yeah, that scene about "You don't have evidence" it just made me think on Ace Attorney! Love these series.

  • This is just perfect.

  • Yes I've played ace attorney, ace attorney justice for all, ace attorney trials and tribulations, Apollo justice and Miles Edgeworth 1 (investigations) I love the series.

  • I was half expecting The Crooked Man pulling a "Quercus Alba" towards the end of the the trial. Then became slightly disappointed when he didn't.

  • I was expecting something in the line of the "final enemy" from Investigations 2. :(

  • Big Ace fa. Didn't find anything any similarities besides there's a trial.

  • I think Bloody Mary fits the final villain from Miles Edgeworth Ace Attorney Investigations 2 while The Crooked Man fits Quercus Alba.

  • You inspired me
