So far most people seem to think that Faith was killed before Episode 1 started. The Faith we saw in episode one was Nerissa with glamour. That's evident cause of what she says in the end of episode 5 "You are not as bad as you look" (among other things) which "Faith" says as well. Bigby then thinks about the conversations he had with the "two" people and figure out, holy shit it was Nerissa all along.
You are then giving the option to run after her (to probably ask more questions) or leave her alone cause Bigby pretty much figured it out already.
I'm not sure anyone really knows what the ending meant. When I played, I was confused, and didn't quite understand - however I chose to follow her anyway, to maybe get answers.
It might have been Faith glamoured as Nerissa - this would make sense because of the exact same lines spoken, and the fact that the mirror couldn't show Faith in episode 1 even though the ribbon was gone so her spell should have been broken. Also, the quote about her "hiding her beauty" to escape as Donkeyskin plays in the scene - maybe she "hid" as Nerissa to escape death.
It might also have been Nerissa herself, and Nerissa could have been glamoured as Faith in episode 1, assuming Faith had already died at that point. In this case she would have been trying to get Bigby to make an attachment to Faith so he'd try to find her killer.
I don't know which is more plausible.
There is a third option - maybe neither was glamoured and the wording is just important. But I don't know about that theory.
The only time the spell would be broken is if Vivian would take her ribbon off and kill herself.
It all comes down to it being Nerissa glamoured as Faith. Faith died before the first episode and Nerissa could not tell anyone what really happened because "these lips are sealed". That's why she glamoured herself as Faith to try and do something, which might not even have worked. While she meet Bigby she noticed he was capable of getting to the bottom of this and later placed the dead Faiths head on his doorstep so he could "save them all".

Supposedly Nerissa is Faith as whilst Nerissa is walking off Bigby remembers numerous things throughout the game that hints to this (eg. they both said similar things and Dr Swineheart wanted to do more tests on Faith; which suggests that either he found out, suspected something was up or was confused from the results of the autopsy). I also thought maybe a spell could still be on her or something similar, but Nerissa being Faith or being glamoured as her is the most likely meaning of the ending.
But the spell on Faith should have been broken if Faith truly died. Her ribbon was removed, which caused her head to fall off. I would assume without the ribbon there's no spell, so if Faith was truly dead, shouldn't the Mirror have been able to show Bigby her body? Unless a still-glamoured Nerissa counted as Faith to him, so he couldn't?

I think the reason for everyone's confusion over the ending (mine included) is the release schedule of the episodes was so wide! By the time the last chapter came out, I barely remembered any of those small details. If say, I played the entire game within the span of a month, I'd have probably picked up on those details AS WELL as actually realizing who the murderer was.
I've been reading various posts and it looks like everyone has the same theory about the ending, but I'm just really surprised they could end so weakly. It just seems like a desperate attempt at a plot twist.
Personally I thought episode 5 was a big let down on the whole.
It ain't that hard to understand when you think about it. Basically, Faith has been dead even before the game started, Bigby never talked to her, Nerissa used glamour to disguise herself as Faith, so that the Sheriff would care about her, and investigate her murder

We didn’t see the Tweedle brothers till after our encounter with Faith. The fact that Faith would appear after she was dead would have created a great deal of suspicion with the Crookedman. That fact that Faith was assaulted by the Woodsman is a matter for the record and would not be discounted.
If on the off chance the Crookedman wanted to keep up appearances he would have sent Nerissa disguised as Lilly and not Faith to go to the Woodsman (because Lily was his client).
I don’t much care for the fact that they decided to make the ending ambiguous when it should be relatively easy for Bigby now to discern.
Cause the developers were lazy? Telltale have been even MORE lazy then that, resuing the same characater model for different characters in The Walking Dead. With that in mind, i could totally see them just reusing the same head now, instead of a full body like before.
To answer your question. They both probably got beaten. They are hookers after all and i'd think that if they dont bring in the money they should, or something goes wrong (and if you think what kind of person Georgie is) they would get a beating.

Ugh, I hope Telltale clears this up...

At that time Bigby did not even know her name. Which is the reason why the mirror could not locate her, or tell them anything about her.
No, after. After you learn her name is Faith, you can tell the mirror "Show me Faiith." But he will tell you "These lips are sealed."
Yes, cause Vivian is still alive. Until she dies, lips will always be sealed.
We were played like a damn fiddle.

So wait, what happens if you run after Nerissa?

If Nerissa took the beating from Woodsman, how come Faiths head had the same bruises?
Probably by George or Narissa did it good question
Nothing. It just cuts to black and the credits roll.
