Who do you WANT her to be?
I recently started a poll to find out what people are THINKing about her real identity. But what about what do we WANT her to be? Here's the poll:
I, for one, TRULY want her to be NERISSA. Even though Faith probably faked her, I genuinely felt for that lonely, sincere girl. At first, I had an instant like for Faith, but when I think about it (I mean, if she pretented to be Nerissa to escape Woodlands and manipulated everyone) I hate her so much.
What do you WANT?

Here's the other poll I'm talking about:

I want it to be Faith for that exact reason - she completely played you, which mirrors her origin story (deceiving others via her coat). It'd be a brilliant twist, IMO. Did she use her friends? Yeah, pretty much, but I doubt she wanted to put them in harm's way.
I really liked that Nerissa was one of the few characters that genuinely wanted to help Bigby and not just bitch out what happened. Then again the thought of a manipulative character like Faith scheming so hard seems too good to pass up. I want it to be Nerissa even though I just have a gut feeling it's Faith. Really good vs deception here.
same:-/
I wanted/ want it to be Faith just because her conversation with Bigby seemed real sincere in the beginning. They clearly both had some feelings for each other. Which her death ending Episode 1, made that episode the best in the series imo.
I think seeming sincere is one of the necessary qualities in a manipulator, just saying...
But let’s look it in another way. If it was Nerissa or Faith all along, Nerissa is, in a way, this manipulative character or Faith can be this “really good” girl.
In the end, we probably only know one of them and, whoever she was, she is a manipulative character (only more manipulative if she was Faith and with more of a sweet side if she was Nerissa).
agreed. she's a horrible human being.
If it were Nerissa it's not really manipulative. Being manipulative is trying to trick someone for your benefit, which is Faith. Nerissa is what we can call witty since if she was Faith from the start, she was really just trying to get Bigby's attention. The Faith theory has Faith not really helping anyone but herself and even if she did help bring down the crooked man she only did it for her freedom not because she cared. Nerissa theory on the other hand shows that she didn't want the rest of the girls at the pudding n pie to die so she just wanted to end the "silent suffering".
We can say that “witty” (and, indeed, it is a great plan) and say that she had a better intention (which can be true), but she is still manipulative (and more than you would expect from her – which is also part of being a manipulator).
I think connotation is key here. To me, I'm looking at a girl that wanted to change a shitty situation not only for herself but also for her friends (Nerissa). Then I see a girl that just wants to save her own skin at the cost of her "friends" lives and her husbands too (Faith). Giving the title of manipulator to both of them is wrong to me. That's just my opinion though, I see what your trying to say.
I agree, and that’s why I said that if she was Faith, she would be “more manipulative”, but we cannot ignore that, even with better reasons, Nerissa also would be manipulating Bigby from the beginning (showing up as Faith and creating a connection, leaving both heads to be found, framing Crane,…).
But just trying to explain myself better, I would not point my finger to Nerissa and call her a "manipulator" (which I could do with Faith). However, I have to recognize the manipulative attitude she adopted (an attitude which, and it is worth remembering, was the only way to help her Bigby because she could not talk about it).
If you ask Nerissa if those legs of her are glamoured, she says how she paid the steep prize for those legs, and her reaction is pretty sorrowing and just full of sadness, that is enough for me to think she's really the Little Mermaid.
But really... idk, it just makes more sense to me that Nerissa was Faith at the beginning but... it is still at debate.
The problem is, whoever we spoke to in the end, it would only make sense that it has been them from the beginning. If it really was Nerissa we spoke to at the end then the only time we met Faith was in the beginning. If it was Faith at the end, then we actually never spoke to the real Nerissa, following the logic that it was Nerissa's head on the doorstep disguised by a Faith glamour and we never met "Nerissa" until Episode 2.
Honestly, file me under the "its Faith all along" header. I don't think we ever met the real Nerissa at all, I think Faith is just a really good actor.
So we talk to the girl who really was dead all along, that's creepy, that's the other thing that bugging me with this theory.
I get that other theory is that Faith is dead at the beginning but it is just brief introduction not as freaky.
Question, why was Nerissa glamoured as Faith when Georgie killed her?
Nerissa and Faith could have switched shifts for whatever reason which means they just glamoured themselves to look like the other. Would explain why Nerissa was glamoured as Faith at her time of death and vice versa.
Thats dumb, but i guess plausible.
I hope that it is actually Faith. I fell in love with her character from the moment that she was introduced; and during this entire season of TWAU I have been forever bitter about her death. If there is a chance that Faith is actually alive, then I will grab onto that sliver of hope.
Out of the two possibilities I also feel that it is much more likely that it is Faith. In episode 1 it felt like Faith was a seductress with the "you're not as bad as everyone says you are" line and she just seemed like a really suave girl to me. With her outgoing personality I think that it would be a lot easier for her to play a timid, sweet girl that is Nerissa rather than the other way around. If timid and sweet is what makes Nerissa Nerissa then I feel like she would be quite uncomfortable with acting as the outgoing, bold Faith who spits blood in Woody's face, impales an axe into the guy's head, and even proceeds to shove it further into his skull by stepping on it. I believe that Nerissa wouldn't have been able to flawlessly act that out, especially since Woody is mostly an innocent in this case. Of course there's always the possibility that 'the quiet ones are always the kinkiest' so it wouldn't be completely preposterous that it turns out to be Nerissa; but I personally am leaning more toward it being Faith.
My take on all of this is that Faith has planned this all out from start to finish, she has been waiting to get out of this life and she was just waiting for an opportunity to get the ball rolling. Lily's double-booking and the existence of an incriminating photo was her starting shot.
Lily asked Faith to fill in with the Woodsman, she goes, baits the Woodsman into beating her up, goes back to Nerissa and guilts her into covering the rest of her night as Faith is now all beaten up. While glamoured as Faith, Nerissa is killed by Georgie and Faith plants the still glamoured head at Bigby's door step.
From that point on, Faith is glamoured as Nerissa and pushes the investigation along to get rid of the Crooked Man so "Nerissa" can escape, all the while having no reason to go back to her husband and having the freedom to leave Fabletown.
As you said yourself, the person at the end was probably the same as the one at the beginning. So, if you are to consider the Nerissa alternative, it would be more plausible to think that it was Nerissa all along and we never met Faith (the exact opposite as it would be in the Faith only scenario).
Damn, you've literally described my situation - I really want it to be Nerissa, but I have a feeling that it's Faith.
I want it to be Nerrissa on a charcater level as otherwise it makes Faith a massive lying, manipulative bitch.
However on a story level having Faith do all that is more interesting
