Nerissa's ribbon - final scene theory
Ive seen alot of stuff about nerissa / faith etc, BUT one thing that hasnt been overly touched on IS.... Why didnt nerissa take her ribbon off after finding Vivian dead and the curse being lifted.. she also wouldnt let Bigby remove it in the final scene, she panicked... this can mean two things as far as i can see... It IS Faith glamoured as Narissa, she cant take the ribbon off because its part of the Nerissa glamour.. OR she is actually "the girl with the ribbon" from the story and it wasn't vivian afterall... the last being a ridiculous alternative so im inclined to believe it is Faith in Nerissa Glamour and she cant remove the ribbon as it is part of the appearence to be Nerissa

If nerissa was the girl with the ribbon...how the fuck would she be able to tell the truth if her lips were sealed?and also who the hell is a ribbon connected to glamours? Last I checked they're tubes or something
It's already confirmed that Vivian IS the girl with the ribbon, that's why Nerissa could speak about the Crooked Man by the witching well. Nerissa glamoured herself as Faith to help Bibgy, which is confirmed by the last line she spoke to him.
Stop making up lots of bullshit when there is enough ingame facts to prove otherwise.
You don't find it at all suspiscious that she didnt remove her ribbon after all the pain and work she went though to be free of it? and panicked in the final scene if you choose the [Remove ribbon] option and stops him, and all her excuse is "you kind of forget you know" im just putting theories out there on information that hasnt been touched on like everyone else
I can't remember but didn't she try to warn faith about the killings. Why would she glamour herself when she knew Georgie would have killed one of them.
Vivian could not speak about any truth to bigby because the ribbon was on her. When the ribbon is removed the other girls could start speaking, but by removing her ribbon she also killed herself. Vivian could NEVER speak cause her lips were forever sealed.
And yes it is easy to forget. She's probably had that stuff around her neck for decades, and she (just like you pointed out) said that it's easy to forget. Don't you trust her or what's going on?
You make an excellent point when you say that it's possible that the girl in the end can't take the ribbon off because it's part of the glamour. I can't believe I haven't thought that. Nicely done!!!
glad someone agrees lol, after all she went through to free the girls and be rid of the ribbon she cant take it off... it makes me think it is Faith in Nerissa glamour, the ribbon is merely part of her appearence as Nerissa
One thing everyone seem to forget is that they found Faiths head. Her, fucking head. Even if it's glamoured it sooner or later should disappear just as Lilly's glamour did.
Faith is dead. Nerissa was Glamoured as Faith in episode 1 and "recruited" him to help cause of Faiths head at the doorstep. Georgie was the one who killed her by removing her ribbon. He even admits in the end, but that he did it all as part of the Crooked mans orders.
Then telltale must have been lazy and not have been arsed to make a "nerissa without robbin" model, i guess that explains why the episode was realised faster than normal :P
Why do you say that? She probably (and pretty much said it herself) that she forgot about it. She's had that thing on for probably DECADES. It's easy to assume she could have forgotten to remove it, she is able to speak again and i think that happiness made her forget about it.
maybe so, you could be right, but why panic when he goes to take it off after all the turmoil she endured to get rid of it, it just doesnt make sense. lol
Ok this might be a little interesting so buckle up.
We'll keep in mind there is no further evidence to suggest that Faith is glamouring herself to be Nerissa. This is definitely impossible.
Now to indulge your theory as to why Nerissa won't remove her ribbon.
The actual story about the ribbon is not very common knowledge, in fact it's American Folklore, meaning not many other countries know about it without proper research on it. The story is about Jane and her yellow ribbon.
This is where it gets interesting, the only thing in Disney that can relate to this is Jane from Tarzan who wears a yellow dress. I know this doesn't prove anything but hear me out. Does the character of Jane and even the story of Tarzan and Jane remind you of a similar character and story? People have always said Ariel from the little mermaid is extremely similar in appearance and character as Jane. If they intended to put in this little odd connection, then my assumption would be Ariel and Jane are the same person, and that Jane is the original ribbon holder. Vivian may have been manipulated to believe she was the original, but there really was no evidence that she was, just her and Georgie's word/belief.
Now here's some food for thought, why would Ariel go to all this trouble? Well maybe it ISN'T Ariel, it's more likely to be the one person who's ever tried to disguise herself as Ariel is Zelena or better known as The Wicked Witch of the West. So far my theory is that, the Witch is behind all of this, and Bufkin is a spy. They referenced a lot of the wizard of oz in the game, perhaps it was intentional. So in conclusion, Nerissa is actually the Wicked Witch of the West.
You're very dedicated to your little theory. Why not go read the big explanation of why the other theory is more likely in the big thread about it.
Maybe the ribbon was actually Nerissa's. Not sure how glamours actually operate, but could the ribbon be used kind of like snow white's hair, as an object to glamour from?
we learn in the final scene that "narissa" lied to implicate crook
we arent certain that crooked man is the master of the ribbons
also, most of the girls could have had their lips sealed as part of the conspiracy against crook
Each person can believe in what theory they believe, doesn't mean any of them are right. I also believe in Nerissa was Faith that night theory, because the mirror thing was already explained: Even when a person is dead (Lily) the ribbon still has effect and the Mirror will say "These lips are sealed"
So far the only known way to remove that black market glamour is to open the glamour tube. True it may fade away eventually, but we don't know for sure how long it would take and decomposition might happen.
I don't think Nerissa could predict that far in the future. If she glamoured as Faith to get Bigby, it means she must have known that the Woodsman would get angry enough to make so much noise that Toad would call Bigby and that Bigby would actually come to investigate. None of the girls knew Bigby was a good guy yet. He was the Big Bad Wolf. It was only until Faith met Bigby for the first time that she realized he is not as bad as people say.
Whereas the real Faith had an actual reason for being at Woody's apartment. She was covering for Lily as mentioned in Lily's note.

Nice troll. Reminds me of this scene from Black Dynamite:
No food for you though.
Surely Vivian was the one who knew most about how her ribbon worked, and she and Georgie were definitely under the impression that removing the ribbon would end the spell. In my playthrough (got to Pudding and Pie early, saw Vivian alive), it's all explained there. That's why she can tell the 'truth' in front of the Crooked Man, because the spell is supposed to be broken.
AFAIK, OP is questioning this very point - since the spell is broken, why has she kept it on?
The possibilities are:
1) As 'Nerissa' explains, she needs time to get used to the idea. This works for both Faith/Nerissa theories.
2) If it's Faith, it's actually part of the Nerissa glamour - not sure about this though, since Lily's 'Snow' glamour included her clothes, yet she was able to take them off and put on the fairytale Snow costume.
3) The ribbon is somehow still active - but Vivian, who you'd think would know, is under the impression that removing her will release all the girls wearing copies. Also, compare her reaction to the attempt to remove the ribbon in Bigby's office with the last scene. She doesn't freak out the same way.
So I'm included to say it's 1) - it's a psychological thing. Other girls have kept their ribbons on, despite the spell ceasing to work (see the girl next to Hans in line outside the office at the end)
Yeah, tell him that.
How does that make sense? Why would the ribbon have an effect on the mirror? The mirror wasn't wearing a ribbon. You could talk to faith and nerissa when they had the ribbon on, bigby never said "these lips are sealed", so merely looking at the ribbon doesn't cause your "lips to be sealed". Can you explain that in more detail?
Um, I didn't understand what you were trying to say. What I do know is the ribbon has an effect on the mirror, since it can't show us people who are wearing them.
Probably because its something she needs to do herself (rather than Bigby doing it for her) since she's the one who started the chain of events off and freed herself from the spell. That makes the most sense to me in regards to why she'd panic
I saw one theory on YouTube. Have you ever considered that maybe Nerissa is actually Vivian? Look at this video for more on the theory.
In the final episode in that warehouse scene we see this photograph of Faith with Nerissa and some other girl (possibly a glamoured Lilly), this seems to suggest that Faith an Nerissa were in fact two different individuals.
The implication could be that the glamour tube was with her body, which was never found. Even if the glamour was cheap and unreliable, we have no evidence of someone wearing it malfunctioned or wore off.
I actually believe this Rizefall's theory, there is most logic in it: "It's already confirmed that Vivian IS the girl with the ribbon, that's why Nerissa could speak about the Crooked Man by the witching well. Nerissa glamoured herself as Faith to help Bibgy, which is confirmed by the last line she spoke to him."
But one thing about that "lips are sealed" thing. It prevents Nerissa and other girls to tell truth, but she was lying in witching well, right?
