Freezing
Hello,
I purchased 'The Wolf Among Us' yesterday with the season pass, since then I have encountered endless freezing on the loading screens between gameplay, I have had it go to the point where my playstation no longer responds to any commands and has to be switched off via the wall.
To be quite honest if I had thought to come on here first and noticed everyone else having freezing issues i probably would not have purchased it but sadly i didnt and bought the game on the fly.
I have even purchased a brand new playstation 3 with 500gb memory free as no other game has gone on it yet aside from this one and yet it still freezes, is there a possible fix or update in the works and if not how do you go about getting a refund on the game as so far its £15.99 of nothing but frustration.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify if you downloaded all 5 episodes right away, or you played through Episode 1 first? Also, can you please clarify if when starting the game that you were connected to the internet and downloaded the latest update for the game?
I have the same problems as WeAreSuvivors described above. I downloaded each episode after they have been published. Restoring the PS3 file system does not fix these bugs. I am currently stuck at the beginning of episode 3 where my ps3 always freezes after loading. I have restored the file system and reinstalled the game and it still keeps freezing.
In another support thread I read that telltale games is currently not working on a patch, which really frustrates me since a lot of users have these issues. How can you not fix this? Many of us paid for a season pass and are not able to play through the entire game. As WeAreSuvivors said, if I would have known that the game is that broken, I would have never purchased it and saved me alot of frustration.
P.S.: My PS3 is working fine on all other games (e.g. the last of us, mass effect 1-3) and it is also the newest model and about one year old. It definitely is not my PS3 that is faulty...
My apologies, can you please clarify where in particular the game is freezing for you? Have you started the game while connected to the internet to make sure you have downloaded the latest update for the game?
I downloaded all episodes together before starting the game and it had been connected to the internet throughout. As Spirit-Molecole stated i could understand if we had this issue with an older version playstation but on one thats only a year old and one that was merely started 2 hours previous it cant be our equipment
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify how long the freezing lasts during the loading screens? Also, if you restart that particular episode after completing it once, do you still see the long freezing loading screens the second time?
The freezing lasts until i turn it off via the plug.
I left it for an hour once and it was still stuck.
I cant complete anything as it doesnt let me get that far.
I have reinstalled it again and again
I mean no disrespect but every message i read on here from staff looks as if its copied and pasted from a script, every question you have asked everyone else on here i have done.
A patch or something needs to be done or if not i ask again on the precedure to getting a refund. Thank you
I agree with WeAreSurvivors. My game freezes in episode 4 when Bigby goes to examine things in the butcher shop. And yes, every staff message about any freezing seems like just a pasted response. I really like the one on another thread where you come right out and say that no patches are planned. Sounds like WB now with Arkham Origins, "you bought our game and we will not fix it". I made an account just to post this, because obviously it's an ongoing issue that you refuse to acknowledge. Or rather, you acknowledge it and basically say tough cookies. I will not be buying any more of your titles if this does not get resolved. It's really as simple as that. Why would I take a chance on another of your titles if you won't fix issues with ones you've already made (and sold)?
You can also try deleting the DLC from the game by deleting the Game Data Utility for the game from the Game Data Utility menu on your XMB. After deleting it, re-download/reinstall the episodes, and then restart the game while connected to the internet, and make sure that you have downloaded the latest update for the game. Then start an episode, and see if the hitching/lagging/freezing is resolved.
@WeAreSurvivors Please contact Sony Support for any inquiries regarding refunds, or refund requests for games purchased from the Playstation Store.
@TelltaleMike
Can you tell us why Telltale Games is can't be bothered with a patch that is fixing critical bugs in their game? Even if reinstalling the game would fix the freezing (which it does not in my case!), simply asking your customers to reinstall the game is pathetic and insulting. We are not beta testers after all.
My apologies, reinstalling the game and/or the DLC episodes may fix the freezing/lagging issue if you were to originally receive an incomplete or corrupted download file of the game/episode. Reinstalling will verify that the issue is not download related. If you are still experiencing the freezing after deleting, and re-downloading the game and downloading/installing the latest update, can you please clarify if you downloaded and played the episodes one at a time, or did you download the game and all of the episodes at the same time, start Episode 1, and experience the freezing issue?
I downloaded the game (episode 1) first. After finishing the episode I downloaded the second, finished it, waited for the release of the 3rd episode, downloaded it and got stuck with all those freezes right at the beginning.
I deleted the entire game from my playstation 3 system. Then I downloaded all episodes and installed them before starting a new game (I also deleted all my old save games to be sure). Still the game freezes my PS3 at almost the exact same time as before, only that this time I chose to go to the tweedle brothers room instead of the trip trap bar (episode 3). It freezes right after loading the scene, I can see Bigby walking in and then thats it.
I think it is unlikely that it is a download related issue. Is there no CRC checking for downloaded game files on the PS? I have a huge catalogue of downloaded games and never faced such problems.
Thank you for providing the extra information. Unfortunately if you are still experiencing freezing or lagging during loading sequences, autosaves, or loading sequences, your save files may be the issue. Unfortunately I would have to recommend deleting your save games, and starting a new game. Again, my apologies for any difficulties that this has caused you.
It is unlikely that the save game is causing the trouble because I deleted my old one and started a completely new game with a clean new install.
Though I am not a beta tester, its a pleasure to provide any information that might contribute to future improvements of the game. Sadly, after all I heard so far, nothing will change and I wasted my time.
Please save other customers some time and don't ask them to reinstall the game. This does not fix anything. You are responsible for your product and you should be working to fix it, rather than asking your customers to do so.
When people don't answer to your suggestions to reinstall the game, this is probably not because the problem was solved. More likely they gave up on it. I give up now, too.
My game is freezing too. I start up episode 3 and like a few seconds in (when it's zooming in on Crane's nameplate) it freezes. The music is still going and it says "saving..." in the bottom left, but is completely frozen. I cannot pause, skip, or even open the XMB via the PS button on the controller. The only thing I can do is hard reset the system, which then crashes. I tried reinstalling, literally no change at all. I downloaded episode 1, then installed episode 2. After I beat 1, I installed the rest, since you seem to want to know about that. Yes I've been connected to the internet and am patched to the most recent version.
Regardless, are you guys working on a patch for this or did I just waste my money? Because that's pretty messed up. You have loyal, paying customers who pay for broken goods that you refuse to fix. I don't want a "sorry", I want you to tell me you guys are working on fixing this.
My apologies, can you please clarify what model PS3 you are using, how big your hard drive is, and if you have at least 10% space left on your hard drive to allow the game to cache properly?
You can get round the butcher shop fault by ringing the bell and talking to the butcher before you look at anything else. Hope this helps.
