Episode 5 crashed, now Steam says TWDS2 is not installed?
Hi,
Just a couple hours ago, I downloaded Episode 5 and installed it via Steam. When I ran it, the loading icon was moving extremely slowly. After waiting for a couple minutes, it disappeared and the narration "Previously on the Walking Dead..." played with the subtitles at the bottom of the screen. After that, the screen stayed black and nothing played. I tried to manually stop the game from Task Manager, but my laptop stopped responding, so I held the power button to shut off the system (something I've had to do with my laptop before, as it can be very picky sometimes).
When the computer restarted, I opened Steam and discovered that a large chunk of my game library was missing. I've had this problem once before and discovered that somehow, Steam forgot that one of its libraries is in my computer's D drive instead of the C drive. I added the D drive directory back to Steam via the Proprties tab and every game was now detected EXCEPT for The Walking Dead: Season 2. In Explorer, I navigated to the Steam Library on my D drive and found the Walking Dead: Season 2 folder. There I found a number of files in it, so to my knowledge, everything is still installed. I tried to run the game's EXE file directly from there and it redirected me to the installation screen for Steam games, where it asks me where I want to install the game. The game is acting as though it isn't installed when it seems to already be on my computer.
After reading through other people's issues, I discovered that Steam Cloud was enabled for the game prior to the crash. Does that mean that somehow I've lost my save files for this season? Should I allow the game to reinstall, or is there a way I can make my computer recognize the files?
Obviously I'm hoping to fix this without having to redownload everything (a 5+ hour process if Steam is to be believed) and play through the entire season again while trying to stick to my original choices.

I apologize for the inconvenience. It appears that The Walking Dead is installed to your C: drive, If Steam is installed to your
drive, please try moving your /Documents/Telltale Games/The Walking Dead Season Two/ folders over to your
drive in the exact same location, then restart the game, and see if you are then able to see the game as installed.
Well, Steam itself isn't installed on my D drive. Only some of my steam games are.
EDIT: I did try your suggestion and recreated the Documents branch of folders as you specified, but trying to access the game in Steam and through its own executable file resulted in being prompted to install it again. I even added root folders with the proper names -
/Users/joemag/My Documents (I also tried just "Documents")/Telltale Games/The Walking Dead Season 2, with all the proper files in them.
I can see that I have save files in that My Documents folder, but I can't figure out why the Steam application isn't recognizing that the game is in fact on my computer. I mean it still recognizes the achievements I've acquired so far and all my screenshots from the game, as well as all the other games I installed on the D drive. There's something about TWD that it just doesn't seem to be picking up on.
I was thinking, if all of my save files are located in the "Documents/Telltale Games/The Walking Dead Season 2" folder, do you think it would be possible for me to move these files somewhere else, reinstall the game, and then just put my original save files back into that location?
Yes, you can try backing up your file directory, and reinstalling the game, then place the file directory back into the file structure, and your saves should properly transfer over.
Huh. It turns out that when I went to reinstall the game, it ended up finding the already installed files, downloaded a little something and then I was able to play. No file-swapping necessary. Once I go the game running, it was a little buggy - the "My Choices" menu had all the decisions I made for Ep. 1 - 4, but when I clicked play, it tried to start me up at Ep. 1 with a Chapter Select screen. Each subsequent episode had a "NEW" sticker by the play button, and when I did start Ep. 5, it needed to locate a Season 1 save and then randomly generate decisions for "unfinished" episodes. Not sure if this meant it thought I somehow didn't play Ep. 1 - 4, but oh well. It also glitched a bit at the menu for selecting save files. It would only display a file that said "Save File B" that was last played in March (which doesn't make sense as the only other save file I had would have been from January).
Despite these little hiccups, I was able to fully play the episode, and it all seemed ok. The only bit it goofed up in terms of my decisions was Clementine's flashback. In my file, I had chosen to save Carly instead of Doug, and I had left Lilly in the woods after her freakout. However in this flashback, Clementine talked about what "Lilly did to Doug" and then Lee asked if he had done the right thing to bring her along (she was sleeping on the backseat and like I said, I left her behind in my playthrough).
Other than those issues, it seemed to work ok. If I ever feel like it, I may try to do a complete reinstall instead of whatever Steam did with patching up the existing files, but I'm just happy I was able to play. Thanks for the suggestions, though!
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for providing the extra information, I will make sure to pass along the information to the team for further investigation!
