101.exe Crash

I cannot get TWD to start. I receive a 101.exe statement and the game does not start. I have reinstalled it in Steam and it still will not work. I have installed the TWD support tool and have a file link as per the instructions I saw for another query regarding TWD running issues. https://www.sendspace.com/file/qedoor

I apologize for the inconvenience. Below are a few possible solutions (You may have tried a few of these, but I will provide all of the potential solutions below):

    1) Ensure you have the latest drivers for both your graphics card, and your computer’s BIOS

    2) Restart your system

    3) Unplug your gamepad (and all other USB devices other than keyboard/mouse) and plug in headphones to the audio out jack.

    4) Verify your cache if you purchased through Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335)

    5) Run the game as admin

    6) Run the game in compatibility mode (right click on game, click properties, click compatibility tab , and we recommend running the game in Windows 98/ME ) (We recommend Windows 98/ME)

    7) Reinstall the game

    8) Make sure that the Steam application is not set to a compatibility mode (right click on steam and click properties, then check compatibility, and make sure that it is not checked to play in a different OS)

    9) Disable Steam Overlay, if you purchased through Steam (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3168263)

    10) Opt out of the Steam Beta, if you purchased through Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/828934424165581080/)

  • I attempted all of the solutions and none have worked.

    1. I checked my BIOS and graphics card and they are up to date.
    2. This has been done on numerous occasions.
    3. I did not have a gamepad or any USB devices plugged in on multiple attempts to start the game.
    4. The cache was verified.
    5. Did that it did not work.
    6. Ran in Windows 98/ME compatability mode and it did not work.
    7. I reinstalled the game previously.
    8. It is not set on compatibility mode.
    9. I disabled steam overlay.
    10. I was not (and have never) opted in to steam beta.

I have The Wolf Among Us and TWD Season 2, which both work fine on my machine. I have never had an issue with a TellTale game before. I have an Inspiron 17R with Windows 8.1. It was bought in August 2013 and is up to date.

You may have received an incomplete, or corrupt install file. Please try deleting the 'The Walking Dead' folder inside the

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\

file directory, then reinstall the game one more time, and see if your issue is then resolved.

My apologies, unfortunately I am out of potential solutions to resolve your issue. I recommend trying a couple different Compatibility Modes, and see if you are then able to start the game successfully.
