Lol, I'm not saying it was bad, but the whole Alexia thing was just completely random, haha. Yes! I loved RE2, it was the first one I played and I was hooked. I loved how it had the Scenario's A and B and it would be a bit different with Leon and Claire. 4 is my favorite, I loved everything about it when it first came out, thought it was nearly perfect, it was just missing the zombies and moving while shooting, haha, idk, I just loved it. Damn, I wish I got to play some SH games, I heard they were good, but never got the chance. I'll try to see if I can, though.
I loved Code Veronica. For me, the best RE games would be RE2, CVX and maybe RE4. I say Maybe because I do think it's overrated, and I'm not… more a fan of the setting at all. Like, a small village, a swamp, a castle, it's all going back in time it seems like XD I like more modern, urban settings like cities. I loved the setting for RE6. Nemesis was a cool character however, he was pretty menacing but he did appear way too much IMO. It should have been more like SH2 (Except RE3 came out before it) where Pyramid Head rarely shows up, and when he does it's terrifying as shit.

They are VERY good, the first three at least. Every franchise eventually comes to a point where it isn't as good as it once was, and sadly that's the case with SH as well. It's a psychological horror game, not really a survival horror game. It relies on atmosphere, the environment, the creature design, sound effects and the story itself to scare you rather than using cheap jump scares like RE. The puzzles are well made, like they can be very difficult if you don't know what you're doing, and the puzzles are meant to be difficult so that the players feel accomplished upon completing them. They take a lot of thinking compared to RE.
Between RE and SH, RE has the better gameplay/graphics while SH has the better story/horror aspect. I'd recommend starting with 2. It has decent graphics for a PS2, unless you get it on Ps3/360 as an HD remaster. The story itself and all the hidden things scattered throughout the game as well as the many endings does play a big part in replay value. You will come across things you haven't come across in your first playthrough, and it does this quite a bit.
Example: I will be walking through a hallway on my first playthrough, it's silent and eerie. My second playthrough, I may hear and see a doorknob turning in the same hallway, then on a third playthrough in the same hallway, I will hear a glass break from the distance. Of course though, these are all randomly generated and it's very possible to get them all in your first playthrough, but the chances of that happening are extremely slim. Plus, it's always nice to go back to find hidden writing on walls, hidden messages or hidden rooms you never knew were there on your first playthrough,
There's plenty of symbolism throughout the game as well, so at times you may find yourself interpreting what appears to be something vague, like a newspaper article you come across or just a certain scene or part of the environment that stands out. Literally everything in this game is a part of the mind of the protagonist you play, and that isn't really a spoiler because it's pretty much a well known fact for the series XD
Without going into spoiler territory, the enemies, the environment, even the other characters will all represent a part of the protagonist, and it may take a few playthrough's to fully understand what is really going unless you go and read and watch everything about it. The topics that these plots have are pretty awesome as well. In SH2 for example, there are moments of suicide, rape, murder, etc. and these all play parts of not only the playable character, but other characters as well. It's VERY well though out and definitely lives up to being one of the most terrifying horror experiences out there.
Well, hopefully this wasn't too long of a read for you and hopefully I've convinced you to at least give it a try XD

Shit, that actually sounds pretty awesome. I was thinking of getting the HD remaster as well, but I wanted to start off with SH1 for the Ps1. I'm definitely going to have to check this series out, and especially since there's a new one coming out. I wanted to try it before it releases.

I just did something stupid. "What a fucking shocker!" Kenny would say. He told me to not post that picture here, I couldn't tell if he was serious because we were chatting with the others. I still did it. He was probably one of the nicest people in Skype and then I just fuck it up. I can't believe this is affecting me in real life, but I just feel mad at myself

Get SH1 if you can, that is if you can handle the terrible graphics and voice acting. It's not as bad as RE though, that's for damn sure. XD There's only one problem with the HD Remasters. The SH3 one does not come with the original voice actors that were in the original PS2 version. They're even worse and don't fit the characters IMO. You do have the option however to decide between original voices and new voices for SH2.
