I.....don't......know. I've always said I'm agnostic, and most people I know give me hell for it, but I'm not really questioning religion, b… moreut I'm not atheist, as I think there is something out there, I just....operate under the assumption all religions are correct, except for, like Scientology and the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, y'know? I always just say it's a possibility to any theories on creation n' stuff. I like to just live by being nice to people, and being happy, making your life, and everyone around your's happy. I define religion as "how you believe things began, and things that happened, and how you live," so by that logic, I believe anything that could have happened ever might have, and I should just make others happy, and enjoy life. So I guess, like I said pre-ramble, Agnostic, but I guess leaning more towards Deist? I dunno, really, it's something I have great difficulty talking about.
It's real. Some guy didn't want schools teaching his kids about other religions, and they responded with "All religions of our students and their families must be taught", so he replied "So you must teach them about my religion, the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. And thus it was born.

Its amazing how respectful everyone is being to each other, its great. Personally i am atheist, was raised catholic. Started questioning religion when i was around, oh, 10 i think. I think organized religion is scary just because of the power it holds, and i am a huge fanatic of separation of church and state and pure equality. I think homosexuals should be able to marry, and marijuana should be legal. "Under god" needs to be removed, and any religious bias in the government. If Christians put a monument somewhere government owned, all other religions including satanism and others needs to be allowed to. I think the government is corrupt in some ways, and the police are becoming quite scary. NSA do not need to be checking everything we do, and we need some privacy as well. I do not like Christians who think they own the country, you can believe whatever you want as long as it does't affect others in a negative way. Thank you all for being respectable people

Another interesting church is the Universal Life Church which will happily ordain anyone who wants to be. I think you can get higher titles by sending money, too. This is useful for businesses that give discounts to clergy. It also allows you to marry people in states where a minister has to preside over a ceremony.
I'm kind of an atheist too. Technically I'm Roman Catholic, but I don't believe in God or in afterlife, not anymore. (The death of my grandfather opened my eyes 5 years ago, since then I quit being religious.) But I think people need something to believe in, it can be either science, fate, family or friends. All in all everything happens for a reason...
I was raised as a protestant christian (I think..?). I have no clue what I would call myself now. I suppose I practice Christian beliefs to an extent, but I don't know if I can really give myself a label. All I really believe is that there is a creator who watches over us.
I have two triplet sisters who are atheist. I love pissing them off on this topic.. because I'm that kind of guy I guess.
I believe in God and afterlife, i'm not sure on wich religion i fit though, all my family is catholic so i guess i'm too, but i'm in conflict i still have to decide.

His death was just too sad and cruel for me. And for him. He had a stroke, and half of his body was paralized. I knew well his biggest fear, being in a hospital and being unable to take care of himself.. He felt shameful and miserable for this. After 4 months of suffering he just died. Alone. I received the phone call and had to tell my mother..The whole thing just shocked me so hard, I prayed for him every single day, yet it didn't change anything. All he wanted was to go home. He was such a good man, and he didn't deserve this pain.
I'm a Christian. I don't go to Catholic Church, in my opinion that's not the way Christianity should be practiced. It's not bad, it just doesn't feel genuine to me. I go to a non-denominational Church, although it's practices are mainly Baptist.

Haha, well I have not been able to delve into it yet but I will say it was interesting. I am curious though: simply from a discussion side of things, how might you elaborate upon the many points/claims made within the lyrics? I know you stated you enjoyed it and I am curious as to where you would stand to the points being made and why.
Once again: no rage, just discussion:P If you are willing, I would much like to dissect it with you, should such a conversation be of interest.
If it exists in the physical world it can be explained by the scientific method. We have no reason to believe that anything can or does exist outside the physical world.
I still don't understand some things about evolution
Take this butterfly for example:
It had developed an eye like pattern in it's wings. It uses it to canouflage and look bigger and scarier, to it's predators.
Now i wonder, how did the butterfliy's body knew that by developing that pattern it would scare it's predators?
For what i know butterfly can only distinguish red, green, yellow and the scales of gray and black (correct me if i'm wrong) so they don't even know the scale of brown that is used in this pattern, there's no way the body or the butterfly could have known by itself what it had to do to look scarier. I think that evolution happens but that there is someone directing it maybe a superior force is the one behind this changes maybe that force made the butterfly have that pattern. That's my theory

Change over time, the butterflies body doesn't know that the pattern will ward off predators. Over millions of butterfly generations the butterflies with the best camouflage survive to pass their genes off to the next generation, that is natural selection. The animals who are the most efficient survive to pass their genes off to their young. This pattern would have started off as a very simple mutation. A very simple pattern in a butterfly millions of years ago but it gave that butterfly an edge over competitors. over time the pattern got more and more complicated and the butterflies with the best camouflage propagate that camouflage to following generations.

I'm not surprised, actuallyi was expecting it, most of the people i know in the internet are Atheists, and a lot of people i know in real life are Agnostics.
Damn alot of atheist here. Not saying there is anything wrong with it just surprising is all. Personally, I don't know what I am. I wouldn't… more consider myself atheist as I do believe in some sort of afterlife and some sort of higher power/existence, but i'm not sure I believe in God. I want to, but i just can't convince myself.
My astrophysicist grand-father has told me that one of the reasons he believes in a God (supreme-creator or whatever you want to call it or not acknowledge) is because of nature and how it works.

It's not about odds, it's natural selection, there isn't any design to it it's all random mutation but the mutations that give that animal the best chance of survival get passed on. That eye pattern is the pattern that gives that breed of butterfly the best chance of survival.
You're completely entitled to your opinion on a higher power, that is your choice to make. I respect anyone's belief in a god as long as they respect my right to disbelief.
Interesting that clears my doubt, i still think there's some superior force ,don't know where or how but i know there is.
Also i'm curious which are the odds of a butterfly developing an eye like pattern?
Yep i can agree you're in your right to disbelief ,actually i don't find it strange seeing the world how it is today, it's human nature to question something when it doesn't seems right. I have questioned my beliefs lots of times but i don't know there's something that tells me there's something more than this world, again that's just my opinion.

Though art has many meanings this song is trying to display the theme of everyone in politics and religion uses God for personal gain. They do it so much that them themselves create a greater evil than what they claim they combat. Some of the first lyrics shows this, for example when slaveowners had slaves they used religion and God to say it was right. When the Nazis were killing Jews in the Holocaust they used religion claiming "The Jews killed Jesus and must be punished" and many other means of control.

My lord and creator is the Giant Spaghetti Monster.
Seems legit...Keep praying friend.

Why did you quit being religious cause of his death? Just curious
I respect your opinion, but i think science can't explain everything
Yep me too

This is NOT meant to offend anyone, I just enjoy this song and its about religion, so I want to share it.

ditto
Well maybe it was his time to go,but his death seems to unesesarily cruel and long, so yeah i can understand you.
Same here.
Yeah that sounds about right.
