Weird!

Finished episode 1 the other day. My wife got her own version a few days after I did and wasn't ready to finish until today. But when she went to the idols to finish one of them didn't work, even though she did the same thing I did.

So I went back to my finished game and loaded it to see if perhaps her inventory needed work. I was surprised to discovered I suddenly hadn't finished! I was back in town. If you finished a day or two ago, you may need to go back, too. (Spoiler follows)
It involved the cheesehead. When I went through the first time, the cheese head was accepted in the Strange Idol with no problem. I inserted the cheese, dialed to the correct mouth and nose, and triggered the clam. I then went to the Messed Up Idol and finished the game.

This time it didn't work. It took me an hour to realize I had to first do something else with the cheesehead before the idol would trigger. Something I didn't have to do the other day

I've just reloaded two saved games (one before the idol bit, and one from after, and both work the same as before. What's the new thing you have to do with the cheese?

Note that save game 1 is the auto-save slot, and it gets overwritten by whatever save game you loaded (as you play, the game autosaves at certain points). I can't remember if you get prompted to save when you select Quit, or if it auto-saves at that point, but from memory Sam & Max Season 1 episodes did not auto-save on quit.
I don't recall having to do anything with the cheese wheel other than making sure it has eyes, and rotating it to the correct place.

I understand how to save, but the other part....
That's my point. I didn't have to put eyes on the cheese the first time. I finished the episode with NO eyes on the cheese. But when I reloaded the finished episode, I started in a place where I had to redo the idols and put eyes on the cheese

You need to go to the jail and run the cheese wheel over the carvings.

He ain't asking how to do that.
He says he didn't have to do that on his firts play through.
Which sounds like either a weird bug, or drunk playing :D

Oh yeah! I remember, I didn't have to put eyes on it either! I finished the the episode the second day it came out.

After reading the forums, I saw people were talking about putting eyes on the cheese and I was like.. "eehhh... Did I? Did I not?" And now I know I definitely did not. lol

    Bug I guess?

Strange. I played it on the second day of release as well, and it requires the eye.

I was stuck for some time there - I put the cheese in without eyes and it wouldn't work. I didn't think of using the eyes at the jail, so I just went back and tried the plain cheese again whenever I got exasperated - after several attempts it worked without any eyes. Sounds like a bug.

Hmm I imagine that Telltale makes the puzzle work when the cheesewheel is the right position... perhaps the game code simply doesn't require the eyes to be there? I did put the wheel on myself but removed it because I immediately realised it was missing eyes...

Bug indeed, I just finished it without doing anything to the cheese wheel. I thought something was weird since it was obvious there had to be eyes on it. But I just put it on the idol and tried using the clamshell again because I couldn't figure out to use the eyes on the jail.

I think I know why. Aren't there two cheese wheels that are broken/messed up? Maybe you used the cheese wheel on a different one.

Only one Idol needs a head. The cheesewheel won't fit into the messed up Idiot. It requires something else

I had to put the eyes on the cheese, but my girlfriend didn't have to do that.

Definitively a bug, and i think it's better to have to put the eyes. Hope it'll be fixed

It's one of the mystics in Monkey Island. Its like the unbrakable Glass braker. Some got it some used it without having it. VODOO.

What do you mean by 2 cheesewheels there is only one cheesewheel in the game, but there are
4 idols. 3 of which are messed up
if that is what you meant

My apologies for this. I never intended to write "Idiot". I meant to write "Idol". I am sorry for this error and any feeling of ridicule I may have caused.

Well you made me smile for a second, so I guess that's alright.

I'd agree that probably if the position is correct it will work even if you don't have the eyes on it yet. It didn't work for me, but I didn't try to turn the non-eyed cheese.

Small logic bug. Maybe you could send in a support ticket so that they can add it to the tracker?
