Startup graphics issue/wrong resolution - rMBP
On my rMBP (15", late 2013, Iris Pro and NVidia GeForce GT 750M), OS X 10.9.2, I'm having problems with both The Wolf Among Us and Season 2 of The Walking Dead where the game starts up with some portion of the top right of the screen cut off.
I can work around it by either:
- Re-apply the current resolution (after changing it and then changing it back), or
- Press cmd-f to go to a window and then pressing cmd-f to change it back to full screen
It then displays as expected. By default, I use the "Scaled" resolution with the third-right "Best (Retina)" option, which I think is equivalent to 1680x1050.
I don't have this issue with any other game, including Season 1 of TWD. I was hoping that this would be resolved by this point, but it still appears to be a problem.

I apologize for the inconvenience. We have heard of this occurring for retina display Mac computers, and the current resolution is to adjust the games resolution from inside the game's Options menu. Can you please clarify if you were unable to resolve the issue by adjusting the game's resolution? Do you experience this issue every time you open the game?
Thanks for the quick reply. This happens every time I start the game. I have the resolution in-game set to 1680x1050, but it requires one of the above to happen every time for the proper resolution to be displayed.
My apologies, we have seen this issue arise on newer Retina Display devices. Please make sure you are hitting Apply when you are changing the graphics/resolution settings. If you are sure you are hitting apply, and the issue remains unresolved, I unfortunately am out of potential solutions for you to try. I hope you are able to enjoy the game!
This now happens every time for TWD2 on 10.9.5. Only one quarter (lower left) is visible, so it is impossible to change the resolution unless you get very lucky with your off screen mouse clicking - I'm talking winning a quadruple rollover lottery lucky.
The only fix is to hit CMD-f twice as originally stated. There is something fundamentally wrong with the TT graphics engine on 10.9.2 onwards. I suspect it's more poor drivers from Apple combined with assumptions by TT.
I apologize for the inconvenience. If you are on a Retina Mac book Pro, after you hit Command+F to change to Windowed Mode, you should be able to try changing the game's resolution and/or graphics settings to a lower setting from the Help & Options menu, then click Apply. Then try switching back to Full Screen Mode by using the same shortcut, and your issue should then be resolved.
Please stop advising people to do that; it is not a working solution. Once switched to Windowed Mode the window is so large that you now only see the top left part of the screen, as opposed to lower left in full screen mode, because the window is two screens high and wide. In other words, I still cannot hit the Options menu without using the Force.
HOWEVER, the work around that always works for me is to hit CMD-f once to go to Windowed Mode and then CMD-f again to go back to full screen. At this point the resolution is set correctly without having to change any options. This was on OSX 10.9.5 - 10.9.2 seemed to have slightly different behaviour, but the work around was the same.
After you hit Command+F twice, and are able to see the game successfully, you should then navigate to the Options Menu and change the game's resolution to a lower setting, and click Apply. Then, the game should start without having to change the settings every you open it. If you still experience the issue, can you please clarify if you are using the same settings as the player above? (Using the "Scaled" resolution with the "Best (Retina)" option?)
The problems appears in both Retina (Best) and all scaled modes.
Thank you for providing the extra information. I will make sure to pass it along to the team for further investigation.
