Could TWAU Season 2 happen after Fables ends?

edited November 2014 in The Wolf Among Us

Think about it people! When the series is over then TellTale will have more stuff to reference slyly in the game and be able to tinker with the past and new charcters easier... I mean Season 2 will be released after the last issue is released, not that Season 2 should follow on from the end of the comics!

  • I don't know but I hope so! It would be a shame if we don't get a second season......

  • We will get one! TWAU is way too popular to NOT get a second season!

While I am one of those people who would soooooooooooooooooooooo wanna see TWAU season 2, (I may be in minority in this) I do not wish TWAU series to be set after ending of Fables.

The main reason is in Fables comic series the main villians/antagonist started out small, and had become bigger and bigger as Volumes/arcs went by:

    Volume 1: no villain.
    Volume 2 ~ Volume 3 : Blubeard & Goldilocks.
Volume 4 : Wooden Soldiers & Baba Yaga.
Volume 5 ~ Volume 11 : Adversary, The Emporor (supported by Snow Queen, Hansel etc).
    Volume 12 : Mr. Dark.
    Volume 13: Kevin Thorne.
    Volume 13 ~ Volume 16 : Mr. Dark.
Volume 17 : no real definitive villain, though Miss Spratt is scheming.
Volume 18 : Miss Spratt, and possibly Therese?
    Volume 19 ~ Volume 21 : Prince Brandish & Miss Spratt.

See, as the series went on, the villians that troubled our heroes became more bigger and bigger and more powerful (Mister Dark is basically God-level in level with North Wind and other Winds, Hope, and Santa). And setting the TWAU story after the events of comics end would be puttng too much pressure on Telltale staff (they would basically need to top characters like Mister Dark and Prince Brandish, who are just too powerful, and big to handle for any one fable), and the scale and size of the story would need to be off the scale.

TWAU season 1 started the series in small and more personal conflict (with Bigby and Snow etc), and I'd like to keep it that way, without overloading the whole villains & situations too much (plus, it would put less pressure on Telltale and they can flesh out their own great villains without comparing to comic's villains). Also, it is several years between time of TWAU season 1 and first issue of Fables, there are so many stories Telltale can explore between and new characters to introduce as well.

My ideal ending for TWAU's final season would be to end it on the first panel of the comics (i.e. Jack Horner running to Bigby's office to say there's been a murder), that would be a good nod to the comics as well

  • Dude, I think you've just wasted your time here.... I mean that TWAU Season 2 will be RELEASED after Fables ends. Not that it will be set after the events of the series!!!

Lol true, I completely misread the question..........Guess that's what happens when I'm trying to do 5 things all at once...

But isn't the answer to your original question already pretty much self-explanatory? Telltale games have been developing Game of Thrones and Tales from Borderlands, and already have their hands full with development of The Walking Dead season 3. They just wouldn't have time to develop TWAU season 2 until at least 2 of the above 3 projects are finished (and besides no news whatsoever from Telltale regarding TWAU release....).
And since Fables pretty much ends at end of March (Fairest even before that), there's no way TWAU can happen before that (unless Telltale is a huge company with multiple divisions, but no. Telltale aren't quite there yet).

I think pretty much everybody who's been on the forums a while already know about that (well I did, when they announced TWD season 3, but no TWAU season 2 and that has been going on for quite a while).

  • I don't feel that TWD needs a seaon 3; imo 2 ended perfectly (despite multiple endings they were all good endings) but if they make a 3 then I want to focus on either Christa or someone new, I feel that Clementine's story in the series is done. TFTB I feel only needs 1 season (we'll see) but GOT will definitely have at least 2 or 3 seasons (depends on popularity) TWAU quickly became a popular series and the game was a massive promotion to the comics (which I'd never heard of until I played the game back in April) TWAU WILL get a Season 2 sometime in the future period! Also I hear rumour that TellTale has another game coming out but no one knows what it is yet; Sin City would be a good one for them to do I think...

  • I haven't played any Borderlands games (I'm not a big fan of first person shooters), so I'm not quite sure I'm interested in TFTB (at the moment, it's just not interesting to me).

I remember someone suggesting Nightmare on Elm Street. Now that would be cool, trying to escape from Freddy Krueger.

  • I dont it would take place after the events of the Fables comics because TellTale likes to keep it friendly to non readers so people would be confused

  • It says in the blurb underneath the title that I don't mean it will be set after the events of the comics; I mean it will be released AFTER Issue 150 is!
