Won't copy from Save Slot 1 to Save Slot 2

I completed the game, but wanted to make a different choice at the end, so I went to the last part of episode 5 to rewind, and when it asks me to save to a different save slot I pick 2. From here the game just freezes, with the loading wheel in the middle of the screen. I've waited for half and hour, figuring that maybe the system had a lot of data to copy, but it shouldn't take this long. If I close the game and restart, there is a save in slot 2 but it's starting from the beginning. I also don't want to save over my save slot 1 game in case it freezes again and erases my data. Any reports of this or ways to fix it?

    I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify if you can access your saves from your Save Files screen from the main menu? When you go to your Save Files menu, are you able to navigate between save slots, or does the screen become stuck?

  • Absolutely, thanks for responding. I completed the game on save file 1, and have no saves in files 2-4. I hit play and it goes to chapter select. The screen starts at Episode 5, and I can scroll all the way to chapter 10. I hit X to rewind, and it says I need to choose a save file to copy the data. I pick slot 2 (or 3 or 4), and as soon as I do a wheel starts turning in the middle of the screen AND on the bottom right there's an orange wheel, but that disappears within seconds. From then on, the game never moves on from that screen with that wheel icon spinning in the middle. If I close the game from the PS4 menu, when I reopen the game and go back to the menu, the game starts in save file 2 with the choices locked, as if I'm starting the game from episode 1. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game on the PS4, but it didn't fix it. Any ideas?

    Can you please clarify if you have a Save Files menu on the Main Menu? When on the main menu you should see Play, My Choices, Save Files, and Help & Options. Can you access your save files/save slots from inside the save files menu, or does the game become stuck in the Save Files menu?

  • I can access the save files and change to a different save slot. The game freezes up when I try to play save slot 1 (the completed game). I choose the chapter I want to load and the game prompts me to save in another slot. I choose a slot to save (2, 3, or 4) and the game freezes up. The music continues, and the wheel in the center if the screen turns, but the game never moves past that point.

    My apologies. I recommend try playing while offline, disconnected from the internet, and see if it allows you to then rewind to the chapter you wish to play from, and loads successfully. Please also make sure that your PS4 is updated to the latest System Update.

  • I am having exactly the same problem. Finished the Game using save slot 1. Then I wanted to try different choises on Episode 5 Chapter 10. Scrolled all the way there and pressed X for "Rewind". The game tells me to choose a different save slot in order to copy my choises up to that moment and after I tell the game to use slot 2, 3 or 4 the game freezes. The wheel keeps turning and the music keeps playing as if it was a normal saving or loading phase, but the games never recovers from that. After closing the application and restarting I can see that a second save slot was created starting form Episode 1, but that´s it. Playing offline didn´t help.

    I apologize for the inconvenience. We have had a few reports from players experiencing this issue, and are currently looking further into the root cause of the issue. We hope to have a resolution in the near future. Unfortunately at this time, the only workaround is to upload your saves to the Playstation Online Storage and start a new game, or delete the Save Data Utility for the game from the Save Data Utility menu on your PS4's XMB, and start a new game in Season Two. Again, my apologies for any difficulties this may cause you, as we look further into the issue.

  • Its the same issue as the other have. I have completed season 2 and I wanted to go back & use the rewind feature for EP 5. When I do this it asks me to pick a new save slot. I have 2,3 and 4 free. When I pick one the small loading start starts then never goes then the game hangs.

    I have the downloaded version. I tried to use the rewind feature before on EP 4 and the final chapter and it worked. This only seems to be a problem in EP 5.

    UPDATE - However when I tried a rewind just now on EP4 it had the same issue.

  • To be honest I don't think they are Going to fix this issue. Any normal support would have given a better update by now for a case that ha been open since it October 2014

  • This problem has ruined this game for me. I want to get more game play out of it and go back and make other choices. This problem needs to be fixed. At this point I want my money back for the game.

  • I think Telltale are unsure what you guys mean. I'm having the issue too.. but what they seem to think is that you cant rewind the game and save over the save in slot one. We want to keep save 1 untouched and simply change the ending of the story for slot 2 but it just wont load at all.

    I can quit and play on my first save slot just fine, no need to delete any saves and start again. Unless you mean to upload the save you want to keep and change slot 1's save and keep that on the ps4?

    for me is the same problem - i can't replay chapters in episodes while game is passed through. as far as i see it isalmost a half of year passed since first issue was raised and i'm really wonder why it is so. are you going really fix this? or maybe i should apply for refund because i can't use your product as it is designed to be used and as i wan't to use it? it's looks like some sort of cheating from telltalegames side against ps4 gamers.

    I'm hope that respect company is capable to be responsible for their product and fix all bugs. at least - tell us deadlines when it will be fixed.

    Unfortunately I do not have any updates on this particular issue at this time. I have made sure to pass all of your information along to the team, but there have been no announced plans to update The Walking Dead at this time. I will make sure to update this thread if I have any new information to provide you guys.

  • I'm having the exact same issue. Exactly the same. Telltale, you are about to really piss me off. So far, I bought the first two seasons of TWD on Android, lost my saves because of a factory reset due to an OS issue, and I refuse to believe that it's 2015 and you still haven't found a way to backup game saves. So, I decided I was going to repurchase and replay seasons 1 and 2 on my PS3, which I did, and when I decided I wanted to upgrade to the PS4, I was told to just create a Telltale account and back them up. Tried it, no such feature available. This is advice that came from your own support staff. Tried backing up my saves using the Saved Data Utility on my PS3, which worked fine, but found to my dismay that they can't be imported to the PS4 as they are not cross platform compatible. So, I decide to repurchase and replay seasons 1 and 2 YET AGAIN, and now I'm stuck with this bug that hasn't even been addressed for 10 MONTHS. You have taken over $150 of my money and I've had to completely replay everything over again 3 times and now I'm stuck with a choice-making game that ironically won't let me go back and change my choices. Not being able to copy a save or use the rewind feature is some elementary level bullshit. Not having a cloud save feature in 2015 is bullshit. But at the very least I would like the game to work as it should and we shouldn't be waiting 10 months with nothing but "we are sorry for the inconvenience blah blah blah". Fix this shit!
