Can't Communicate with Telltale Servers

Exactly what the title says. Am I doing something wrong perhaps?

I apologize for any difficulties this has caused you. If you have tried adding it through your firewall and the issue still persists, have you made sure to disable any anti-virus programs open and running that may be blocking the games communication with our servers?

  • First thing I did, mate =) Unfortunately no luck.

This may be an issue with the game's registry. Please open a Windows command window. (Below are instructions on how to open a command window)

Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "cmd" and press enter

Windows Vista / 7: Press the Windows key. Type in "cmd" and press enter

Windows 8: At the start screen, type in "cmd" and press enter

Then copy the command line below and paste it into the command window, press enter, and confirm the question (to confirm the question, type “y” and press enter):

    REG DELETE "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Telltale Games\Launcher”

(Please make sure when you copy the above text that you do not copy a space before or after the text, as that will produce an error message. If you still receive an error after inputting the command line, please try typing in the command line one letter/symbol at a time into the Command prompt)

Please then try launching Borderlands again.

  • ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.

That was from an elevated command prompt.

Yes, if you know where to find the information within your registry, please delete the 'Launcher' folder from the Telltale Games registry. Then restart the game while connected to the internet, and with your internet firewall and anti-virus programs disabled, and you should be able to log in/connect successfully.

After looking over your support tool information, I can't seem to find a reason why it is still not working. Please contact/email our Support Staff at Support@Telltalegames.com for further assistance, and they will be able to assist you further with your particular issue. Please make sure to include all of the steps you've tried so far, the email address associated with your Telltale account, and the Order ID number that you received at the time of purchase, in the email.

  • Thanks for trying!

I am a software developer myself and I can't understand it either. There might be something running that I have forgotten about. I will try running the game in a clean VM to see if that sorts it. It isn't a solution but it might help someone else.

  • Still no reply. This is getting ridiculous.
