I apologize for the inconvenience. After looking over your support tool information, I noticed that your save files are currently stored in

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\

And are not in the proper directory:

    C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\

I recommend taking the save files from your \Public\ file directory, and paste them into the file directory under your username, and restart the game, and your save files should then be able to be imported.

  • I'll try, thanks for the help :)

Please run the Support Tool again so that I can look up your newly set up file directory, and I will be able to assist you further with your issue.

But, one thing: do i have to copy the files or to cut the files? I mean, i left them in the old directory and copied in the new one, is that the problem?

Please try renaming the prefs.prop file in

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead

to prefs.prop.bak to disable it, then restart the game, and your saves should be able to be read from the proper file directory.

Will it change if i play again the game from the start? i don't want to... but if it's the only way, i'll do it!
I want to play so bad :'(

If changing the prefs.prop in your public\Documents\Telltale Games\ file directory to prefs.prop.bak did not work, please try renaming that one to prefs.prop, and renaming the one in C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead\ to prefs.prop.bak to disable it, then start the game, and see if your save files are restored.

My apologies. If you are playing the game through Steam, your Users/YOURNAME/Documents/Telltale Games/ file path will be the correct one. Please switch the prefs.prop files back so that the Public folder one is prefs.prop.bak (disabled) and the users/Yourname/ prefs file is named prefs.prop (enabled) then please make sure Steam Cloud Saves are disabled for the game.

You can check this by right clicking on the game in your Steam Library, clicking Properties, and click the Updates tab. Near the bottom of the page, you can see if the Steam Cloud is enabled (Checked) for The Walking Dead: Season 1. If it is enabled, does disabling it, and restarting Steam allow you to access your saves?

I recommend deleting the Telltale Games folder in your

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\

file directory, then restart the game, and see if your save files are restored, as you may be experiencing these issues because there is another file directory created for the game in your Public file directory.

Can you please clarify if you have Disabled/Turned Off Steam Cloud Synchronization with the game? You may need to do this, then delete the files, and start the game again.

  • Yes, i have disabled them. I have to do it with Season 2 too?

You should not have to disable Steam Cloud saves for Season Two. If you are still unable to import them, and you have disabled your Steam Cloud Saves for Season One, I am out of potential solutions to resolve your issue. Now that you have disabled Steam Cloud Saves, you should be able to start a new game, and you will not experience the issue again.

thanks anyway, i think i'm going to replay the first season, maybe then season two will find those darned saves.
