Graphic problems (thick black edges) Steam
I don't know how to explain it. It's like the cel shading is turned up too high and there's black stuff on the characters faces. I can't find anyone else with this problem.
I've tried turning everything down to low, lowering the resolution, reinstalling the game.
R9 285
Here's what it looks like:

Same card and same problem. Help, Telltale
I didn't expect anything during the holidays, but can I please get some help now, Telltale?
I have the same card and the same problem. Really need some help with this.
Can you please clarify if you have tried changing either the graphics settings, or game's resolution settings from inside the game? Have you tried running the game in a Compatibility Mode? Also, can you please clarify if you have the Telltale Games version, or the Steam version of the game installed?
I have the Steam version, I am running the fairly new AMD Radeon R9 285. My graphics are up to date. The only thing that has fixed this is downgrading my drivers to the older ones. This however causes issues with other games.
No changes with the settings in game have any effect.
Unfortunately I do not have any other potential solutions at this time, as this is the first I have heard of this particular issue. I will make sure to pass it along to the team for further investigation, though!
I also have this problem :-(. Changing the resolutions or other settings does not help. It seems to be related to the GPU - I am also using an AMD Radeon R9 285. On the steam forum all people who have this bug seem to use the same graphics card. A solution would be most welcome as in this state the game is no fun for us :-(.
My original post specifically says that I tried turning the settings down and that I changed the resolution....and yes, it was done in game.
It's right in the title of my post....
I mean really?
I received your information, and thank you for the screenshot. I made sure to pass it along to the team for further investigation. My comment was directed at the other players experiencing the same issue, to see if any of our potential solutions were able to resolve the issue for them. If you have tried all of them already, I am unfortunately out of potential solutions at this time, and hope to have more information for you soon.
While we are looking into it, can you please clarify if you have also tried turning the Antialiasing Off, and see if it changes anything on your screen?
I'm having the same issue here. Using R7 M260 up to date.I think the game graphic is not compatible with the most updated AMD driver. Haven't tried to use older driver version.
I hope someone could find the solution soon. Love the game so much but cannot play under this graphical condition
My apologies, we are currently gathering information on the issue. If you are currently experiencing this particular issue, please read this Sticky on how to run our Support Tool, and follow the steps to run the tool, and reply here with the download link copied and pasted into a reply. You can find the Sticky here:

After receiving the information from your support tool, I will be able to pass it along to the team for further investigation into the issue.
Yes, I've tried pretty much every combination of settings. It stays the same no matter what.
If it helps, I was talking to someone else on the Steam forum with the same problem and same card. They said it might be related to GCN 1.2 which is only in this card.
Here is what I got from that.
Support Tool Info
After looking over your Support Tool information again, I noticed that you have the beta version of the drivers for your graphics card. Can you please clarify if updating your card's drivers to the official Omega (14.12) version of the latest drivers Here resolves the issue you are experiencing, or does the issue still occur?
Please try updating your card's drivers to the official Omega (14.12) version of the latest drivers Here and see if your issue is resolved. If it does not, does the issue change, or does it still occur the same?
My card drivers are at the official 14.12, if that thing says otherwise I dont know why Catalyst control center says up to date.
I think you might be getting confused. The Display driver is currenty 14.5 look on that site the 14.12 is the catalyst suite version.
Package contains the following graphics drivers and dependent/required software for the products specified in the current version's official release notes for the 64 bit version of Windows 7:
Thank you, I'll make sure to pass the extra information along to the team for further investigation.
I fixed the problem by downgrading to driver version 14.301.1013-141117a-177876E with Catalyst version 14.11.2 Beta downloaded from filehippo. I'm also running the Steam version. When I had the latest driver from AMD's support site I had the same issues. Someone else had posted on another forum I found that using older drivers had worked for them too, so I guess something in the newest drivers isn't playing nice with GoT on the 285.
Thank you for providing this extra information. I'll pass it along to the team, and I hope you are now able to enjoy the game!
I was running the Omega drivers when I had the problem. I had to roll back to the beta drivers which fixed the game.
Thank you for providing the extra information on how you resolved your issue. I will make sure to pass it along to the team.
Thread: Acknowledge the R9 285 Issue
The game displays serious graphical corruption on R9 285 graphics cards using the latest official WHQL Catalyst drivers from AMD (14.12 Omega).
It would be nice if Telltale acknowledged that this issue is present in a statement or by releasing a patch for the PC version of the game that corrects the problem. If the issue is specific to something in AMD's drivers, then at least acknowledge that this is the case and work with AMD to correct the issue.
I personally spent $30 on this game/series and am unable to play it because of this issue and find the silence from Telltale and lack of acknowledgement to be incredibly insulting.
If it was something with the entire R9 line-up, or even only with your model then you can bet a lot of people would be here complaining and it would be all over the news, as is when a part of a game fails miserably, but it isn't.
I have an R9 270X myself and no problem whatsoever with the latest drivers.
i.e most certainly something on your end so don't get ahead of yourself and blame TT for something that's probably your fault.
I'm not the only person with this issue

It's unlikely this is something on "our" end when the common denominator is the same is all cases - an R9 285 and the 14.12 Omega drivers.
And as mentioned in that thread (by me), the R9 285 is the only card on the market based on AMD's GCN 1.2 architecture AND it's the newest card in their lineup. That is why not many people have complained.
I just followed the first link you gave and your comment was very rude.
Jurassic Park to this day still contains a sequence in the first episode where all of the dialogue is repeated twice (when the little girl is trying find the triceratops). Telltale never acknowledged or fixed the issue.
It's not rude to speak plainly that a company rarely, if ever, releases patches correcting major issues in their products. Nor is it rude to direct a customer to purchase the product on a platform on which it functions correctly given the incredibly small odds of the issue ever being corrected on the platform they first purchased the product on.
Has there been any news at all about why the new drivers won't work with this particular game?
Touché. I think they released some updates for TWD S1 Episode 2, because I noticed some changes in the scripted dialogue when I went through it about a year or so ago. As a result, the dialogue in the woods with Danny at Jolene's camp was less awkward at some parts. I've never played Jurassic Park and have been dissuaded from buying it at the moment because I hear average or negative reviews about it.
Unrelated comments aside, I do agree that TellTale should work on patches more often than they do.
Unfortunately at this time I do not have any updates on the issue. If you wish to play the game now, we have had reports like the one above that using the older drivers for your particular graphics card resolves the issue. I hope to have more information on the resolution of the issue soon.
I just hope it's fixed before the second episode is released. I downloaded the Omega drivers again, and the problem still persists. i really don't feel like having to roll back to the beta drivers again just to play one game.
Doesn't look like it's going to be fixed for tomorrow's release. I'm not one for being an asshole toward developers because I know they do what they can, but I will say this sucks as someone who really likes Telltale's games. Please continue to update this thread if you can, Telltale.
Problems still persist.
Well I guess I won't be able to play this for a long time, I'm not going to just downgrade my drivers for one game.
I wouldn't expect to play this at all without rolling back to the older drivers. From what I've heard from other people who had problems with Telltale's other games, none of the problems were ever fixed because Telltale doesn't patch their games which is just pathetic. I already gave them my money to play the game, so I will at least do that. But this will definitely have an impact on whether I play their next game or not.
It's probably a good thing that this was a christmas gift and not something I dropped money on myself. It is very disappointing that there has been no updates or further response from Telltale.
I'm kind of saddened by the response as I really liked Telltale games for the longest time, they kept that adventure game genre going, but I guess they don't care as much about their customers.
I should probably go through all my telltale games and hope I don't get the same result.
So its been extremely long amount of time now, is there ever going to be a fix for this? I kind of spent money on this game you know.
Unfortunately at this time, I do not have any updates for you regarding the resolution of the issue. Can you please clarify if the Newest Beta Drivers for your particular card experience this issue as well?
Downloaded the new beta drivers, and the game still has the same problems.

Thank you for providing the extra information, I will make sure to pass it along to the team. Please note that we are still looking into the issue.
have the same problem is there anytime soon going to release a patch for the problem
