Maybe its something like - the forresters made a pact or bargain with the children of the forest ages ago to protect each others interests, so to speak. The children will help them sustainably harvest the ironwood, and the Forresters agree to never harvest too much and/or come to the aid of the children/old gods/weirwood groves when needed?
I dunno, its the thing i most want answers to in this game for sure!
Me too. And when Duncan said "became a ranger, it will help" I thought a million of things. Something related to the Children? The Others? Something else? Damn. I want those episodes Telltale, now! haha!

Ya, episode 2 would make a great Christmas gift from telltale. Im sooo glad the story is going to the wall ( and beyond it seems ). Its one of my favorite storylines in the books

I think it's still too early to make any predictions/theories about the true nature of the North Grove, seeing as it's only the first episode. And the information given to us has purposely been delivered in a vague and mysterious/ominous way, meant only to pique our curiosity. We'll probably hear more about it next episode, hopefully we can discuss it in detail by then.
that actually makes sense. Maybe the wood by itself is just normal wood, but the (things in the) North Grove makes it so strong. So even if the Whitehills take all the ironwood and chop it down, the life of the Forresters wouldn't be in real danger
I think it could be something to do with the children of the forest.... perhaps ironwood is so strong because its actually laced with a form… more of magic from the children of the forest... in a similar way that the children of the forest helped fortify the wall with magic?
The North Grove could potentially be a hidden place in which the dwindling children of the forest population are hiding?
I could be completely off, but I like it as a theory
Magic is slowly returning to Westeros. Maybe the North Grove is connected to the Children of the Forest? Some long-standing pact or understanding between the surviving Children of the Forest and the ancestors of House Forrester in observation of some future appointed time?
I'm not suggesting that Forrester and the Children are still in contact, just merely cut off for secrecy and convenience's sake. It's not looked upon favorably to find friends among your enemies and maintain ties with them, especially when they're magical in nature. Magic in Westeros is near-absent, and even then known and feared almost to the point of hatred.
Duncan seemed so calm compared to Royland.
I'd rather have a slow and calm sentinel that makes honorable choices
and ideas, than a hyped up commando ready to kill at the sight of another
house.
yeah make it bloodraven. This is clearly based on the show because Sera insinuates that Jaime Lannister is at Kings Landing and he isnt suppose to be there until after the wedding in the books.
It would be fitting because bloodraven was cough meant to be at a certain place to save a certain someone in the books but he hasnt appeared in the show and so that latter character ended up dying in the show, maybe because bloodraven was predisposed...
Weirwood is my guess, given that they describe it as "a myth". So probably the Children of the Forest and Bloodraven come out and start killing Whitehills
Bigby choice: do something good or bad chooses the good option
Everyone: OMG BIG YOU ARE SUCH A TERRIBLE PERSON BLAH BLAH
Bigby: ummm no, im objectively chose the moral option chooses all the good options, and helps Beast who came along too
Beeast: thanks you are tru frend
Everyone: YOU SUCK BIGBY YOU ARE SO EVIL.
Beast: YEAH WE FIGHT NOW
Bigby: what.
etc etc my point being that ttg were super lazy in twau so no matter how good you are as bigby everyone in westeros will hate him
North "Grove" is just slang for "Wind", who is Bigby's father. He really means he will be getting Bigby to come help them against the Whitehills.

Exactly, you have one last message, and it goes not to your family,
but your friend and castellan. Only him. About a grove of trees that m… moreust not be lost.
Its passing strange at the very least. That he wouldnt want his family told about something so obviously important. Does he not trust his wife? Or his son the new lord?
I agree, although if they were being smart about their defenses, obviously there must have been complications, like having someone on the inside, some good assassins/ranger types, a little bit of magic, or someone got drunk or deserted causing critical failure at a crucial moment.
His family IS pretty stupid.
"careful everyone ramsey is dangerous".
Lady Forrestor: Okay I'll stand by the door with the other two chil… moredren.
But then again, why not trust any of the soldiers?
Ethan: Stay on the wall to watch for soldiers okay?
Soldiers: Okay!
20 soldiers walk into the main hall.
Ethan: What the actual ****

Um, no, it would be too much hassle for ttg; TWO WHOLE BRANCHES? groooan But then theyd have to, like, DO WHAT THEY ADVERTISED! gasp shock horror.
fanbois...
Well he said being a ranger would help. Presumably to get out to the grove. A grove is a small group of trees, the lifeblood of the house is a special rare tree that is currently being threatened. The Forrestors are a very very old house IIRC. Them having a special backup stash of super trees could easily be the source of rumors and legends in their community. Their house words are iron from ice. This represents the common northern idea that the harshness of the north makes northeners into a hardy people. But it also would have a nice double meaning if they got ironwood from the icy lands of the far north.
I mean, what's the alternative? That it's a super weapon? That doesn't seem like a very games of thrones like plot beat. But there is some precedence the shadow assassins and the dragons. But unless it's super subtle it'd be found out about pretty quick. And if it was a super powerful super weapon, it'd be weird that no one mentioned in season 4 that some smaller house was stomping around the north with mechas.
but he said something about it being a ''Myth'' that no one knows its existing? so maybe its more than just some ironwood thats been kept aw… moreay for safety and such.... i think it has to do with some wildlings and how DUNCAN said to GARRED that You Must Be A Ranger is something to do with that... its more than just some wood that is a secret! idk thats what i think
Uh, mostly impervious maybe. Ramsay mentions burning the food at Ironrath at least once, and no one corrects it or casts an aside glance. Even if it is, ironwood can be wasted, the whitehills had a bunch of trees, and they wasted them for whatever reason.

Freudian slip, Ramsay can make a comment about there being no shortage of firewood. Not firefood. No one says "Nah bra, our wood is unburnable!" Even though in that scene they are puffing their chests out, and that'd be an excellent thing to say if true in the moment.
How easy or hard it is to burn isn't really my point, the game isn't a forest fire simulator. My point was more about the fact that the trees are not an infinite resource, they can be destroyed. It's my prediction that they will be partially or totally destroyed and depleted. And then the northern grove will replace what was lost.
Oh, shit. You have a really good point there. We could very well have to choose between meeting up with Duncan for the North Grove and risk being sentenced as a deserter or stay at The Wall and risk putting House Forrester in even more danger.
Im not so sure but i loved that choice
* me (forced) "ive got something to tell ya"
* duncan "what is it"
* me "..."
* duncan "if yo… moreu've got something to say"
* me (forced) "the north grove must never be lost"
* You (unvolunterily) fulfilled your duty to lord forrester
so what you're saying is that you dont expect TTG to ever do something surprising beyond what they advertise? good point, afterall they dont even do what they advertise! glad to see there are other people with self-respect here
I think I might have confused Bloodraven with Coldhands btw, if thats what confused you my bad,
SEASON FOUR SPOILER:
That Reed boy, Jojen? In the books they have Coldhands with them so he fights off those undead, and he specifically saves Jojen's life. In the tv series there is no Coldhands so there is no one to save Jojens life, he dies.
Its rather significant because if Howland is dead then Meera is potentially maybe the only person left who knows what happened at the Tower of Joy.

I think its some sort of area where there's Ironwood beyond the Wall and its gonna help House Forrester/be part of Gared's storyline.
I think it has to do with the Forrester's success in harvesting Ironwood without depleting the resource and the Whitehills failure in doing so.
Maybe its something like - the forresters made a pact or bargain with the children of the forest ages ago to protect each others interests, so to speak. I think it means that: The north grove, really shouldn't be lost.

except when Duncan acted like a lil puss?
dont know the laternative reaction tho

I imagine it being a ironwood armory of the finest and strongest ironwood weapons that are kept secret in case of war
Im drawing a blank, who are you referring to? I havent seen season four, with all their changes. Just re reading ASOS now.
Mostly impervious.
Pardon, when did they advertise split story-lines? They advertise choice. That does not imply completely different stories based on what you do.

Time will tell.

Burning the food?
Still counts as impervious.
Freudian slip, Ramsay can make a comment about there being no shortage of firewood. Not firefood. No one says "Nah bra, our wood is unburnable!" Even though in that scene they are puffing their chests out, and that'd be an excellent thing to say if true in the moment.

I have a feeling its acorns to make more iron wood. Or maybe they're sheltering the children???
As Bigby Wolf once said to Gren regarding a joke Holly made: "It was alright."
Oh, shit. You have a really good point there. We could very well have to choose between meeting up with Duncan for the North Grove and risk being sentenced as a deserter or stay at The Wall and risk putting House Forrester in even more danger.
Don't get banned again, my heart can't take it.
nobody cares what you chose tho
I dont know what the North Grove is and the game has given me no reason to care, so I wont.

Also, i dont think howland reed is dead. At least i really hope not, i have been waiting for him to show his face since book one.
I can't find any info on Howland Reed ever being thought to have been killed at some point.
I do. It was funny.
Ok good, that makes me feel better. Im just re reading SOS now and its been a while. I thought i had missed this huge event.
I don't really see how they could've prevented any of that.
