No Mouse Cursor on Startup (Mac/Steam)
Hello. I recently purchased a copy of Walking Dead Season 1 through the Humble Store for Steam. The game boots up just fine, but for some reason the mouse cursor won't show up. It seems to still be registering for the first few menu screens, as I can highlight and click on different options provided I can find them without the help of the cursor, but once I reach the episode select screen, even that capability is gone, with the addition of a graphic issue (Lee's head is gone).

Please try starting the game again, and when you experience the issue again, please try switching the game to Windowed Mode using the shortcut (Command+F for Mac) and see if you are then able to see the game correctly. If so, please then try changing the game's resolution and/or graphics settings to a lower setting, and click Apply. Then try switching back to Full Screen Mode by using the same shortcut, and your issue should then be resolved.
Thanks very much for the response! Sadly, that fix only seemed to bring about more problems, none of them consistent. I got an occasional refusal to return to full screen (instead just displaying an out of resolution image of my desktop) as well as random graphic flickering when attempting to cycle through to a lower resolution, but still no mouse cursor. I did manage to get to the play button from the episode select, but that merely led to a black screen.
Additionally, I attempted to play the game through Big Picture mode, as that resolved the graphics issues I was having with Wolf Among Us, but the problem persisted through that as well.
Thanks so much for your help.
My apologies, if your Mac computer is currently running on OS 10.10 Yosemite, please try the workaround suggested by another player using Mac OS 10 Yosemite, below:
1) In System Preferences, select Displays, then select Scaled - More Space to change the screen resolution to very detailed.
2) In System Preferences, select Dock, then deselect 'Automatically hide and show the dock', to be able to click on the bottom of the screen.
3) Start up the game and run it in windowed mode using the Mac shortcut (Command + F).
4) You should now be able to see the main menu now and change the screen resolution to one that fits the window.
Well, this fix seems to be moving in the right direction, as it managed to work for a moment at least. Changing the setting this way actually made the game open in windowed mode automatically, and caused a great deal of screen flickering if I attempted to revert it to fullscreen. I was able to use my standard Mac onscreen mouse to select options briefly while in windowed mode. Using this, I switched the resolution to match my window as well as possible and attempted to start the first chapter. However, I still had the issue with Lee's head being gone, as well as some minor graphic flickering, and then upon chapter start, all the graphics went haywire. Most of the words showed up, and the sound played just fine, but the screen was mostly a mess of grey shardlike elements and my mouse disappeared while in the game window again. Even upon exiting out of the chapter to change settings, the cursor no longer functioned.
The other things make a little more sense, but a complete lack of your in-game cursor and Lee's missing head don't seem like an issue with resolution, and I haven't seen anyone else mention those issues in any forums. I'm wondering if something got corrupted during install or download somehow? Thanks again for your patience and help.

After looking over your support information, there does not seem to be an issue with the game's file directory, and your computer should be able to run the game successfully. Can you please clarify if you are running any other programs in the background while attempting to play the game? Please also look over This Article on how to get your cursor to reappear while playing the game.
Initially I was running the game with quite a few programs in the background, including iTunes, Spotify, Google Chrome, and VLC. I quit out of everything to see if it would make a difference, which sadly it did not. Additionally none of the fixes from the the cursor article seemed to help either. Currently, as the game opens in windowed mode, I get the regular Mac cursor until I either click out of the game box and click back in, or attempt to start an episode, at which point it disappears completely and can't be brought back without restarting the game.
I grabbed a screenshot of the glitch from the episode select screen if that helps. I was going to take one of the graphic flickering, but the game has decided to start force quitting itself once I start an episode.
Hmmm. It didn't like my image. Here's a link to the imgur instead.

Can you please clarify if you have tried Verifying Your Game's Cache to see if you are missing any files for the game from inside Steam?
I had not, but upon doing so was informed that there were two files missing that would be retrieved. Looks like the game is working perfectly now. Thanks so much for all the help, I can't wait to delve into this game!
You're welcome, I hope you are now able to enjoy the game!
