Toph isn't gender confused, she is a tomboy. I can't remember exact quote but one of the episodes in series 3, toph comments that she never needed a reason to concern herself with Girly clothes, makes up etc because he was blind, she couldn't never see herself, this logically made her a tomboy also she didn't want be what her parents wanted be - up-class, so when she was introduced fighting earth benders in the underground arena she dressed in practical boyish clothes.
Haha that is funny! You know what else is funny? Crash Hole opens up in the bridge and the three girls tumble into the water. Katara drifts them away with a bit of water magic and the two share a cathartic moment. She says "I don't need that stuff. I know who I am. (Paraphrased)" She also exexclaims that she enjoyed the pampering and on other occasion(s) she likes being girly. So I think gender confused is a comical way of referencing the multiple things she gets joy our of, both feminine and masculine.

Toph was a character that I could relate to, And I love her jokes, she was ashamed to make fun of herself.

you mean this moment:
toph brings humour and she is a badass
Awesomer. Bad asserer. The grandmother of the latter. What she lacks in kawaiiness in comparison she makes up for in pure kick assery.
another great toph moment
my fav toph moments was when she used earth bending to scram money from people in fire nation.
The Runaway. Haha that's one of my favorite episodes (well they're all my favorite actually....).
I love all the original avatar episodes, however The Runaway is my fav Toph episode
