Should TellTale release a NON-CANON Season of TWAU?

Just think of all the possibilities!!

You could spark up a relationship with Snow or someone else. You could attack/kill whoever. You could do SO much with a non-canon series!

Of course Vertigo/Bill Willingham may not approve. But Willingham admitted to Matthew Sturges (when he was asking him what choices he made for TWAU) that he chose violence whenever it came up XD So maybe Willingham would approve :D

  • That'd be absolutely amazing. But Telltale won't do it, Willingham won't approve it and it'd be a bit hard to make a game where you can spark up relationships or kill whoever you want, even for Telltale. The best we would get is a non-canon game with their own storyline :)

  • Hell yeah, like an entirely new European Fable that visits New York's Fabletown or something.

  • I could imagine Willingham approving it though :P

  • At this point any confirmation of a season at all would please me enough.

  • What you're suggesting implies that I'll at last get the chance to romance you know who. I fully support the idea for that reason alone. :D

Furthermore, as I said somewhere before, canon restrictions in my opinion have negative impact on writers' work in general. It'll be easier to unleash the already huge development potential of this story in it's entirety, once the writers are free to express their ideas and put them to practical use. It's surely going to be challenging for TTG to implement, but they have to start improving their skills somewhere.

Although, on the other hand... none of it matters right now. JUST GIVE US A GODDAMN SEASON 2, TELLTALE.

  • I'm writing a romance for you about you know who already XD

But yeah, Season 2 needs to come... Tbh TellTale hasn't removed this forum from the site yet so maybe TWAU is on an indefinite hiatus :/

  • It is, most likely. But I'm certainly not giving up my hopes yet, not until they literally say there won't be any continuation, which, if it were to happen, would be an incredibly, immensely dumb decision... U know that feel, bro?

  • Me too. I truly wish that TWAU took place in an alternative universe or something so it isn't canon restricted.

  • Telltale could release a non-canon TWAU game that takes place back in the Homelands long ago. Starring evil Bigby.

  • That doesn't even have to be non-canon; the Homelands before the Exodus is rarely shown in the comics, so u can make pretty much any story for Bigby back then. But he would be a giant Wolf that everyone fears, that leaves little for a story...

  • If this ever happened Telltale would have to put in big bold letters that this is non-canon in the beginning of every episode as to not piss anyone off with whatever they do.

Perhaps an actual who-done-it murder mystery inside a big mansion story.

  • I like that idea; but it's obviously going to be Bluebeard lol :P

  • I meant another Season entirely; I stand by Season 2 following on from Season 1 :D

As much as I want Season 2, it would be kind of weird if it went non cannon

  • I wouldn't want it to be really dubbed as a "Season 2." They could do something similar to their Sam and Max series, where you could just randomly pick up on the second or third season without having to played any previous one. They should do that with TWAU and make it non-canon.

  • Yeah, same here.

Though I wouldn't mind if they did a DLC based on non-cannon events (and at the end of the DLC, maybe have Bigby (or another main character) wake up and realize the whole thing was just a dream or something? I wouldn't mind that)

  • Dream sequence could be in a canonical Season though...

Maybe Bigby living a fantasy of him and Snow together, but waking up before it can become anything meaningful :/

  • Well, dream can be one or the other (canon or non-canon). With non-canon dream, I can imagine Bigby having a nightmare and things go from bad to worse, and Bigby trying to get through it in one piece.

I'm just not sure I would favour it if they made a whole season worth of non-canon story. Like Poogers said, I think it's gonna feel a bit weird - and I'd rather Telltale commit their resources on a full season that is canon (though DLC is ok) rather than non-canon season (I can't see them doing both, considering their resources).
