Save File corrupted twice now..

I am really mad for this to happen twice..! I was playing chapter 4 in Season 2 and when I was about to look for Bonnie and Mike the game gave me a message with ''Save File is corrupt. It will be recreated.''

I was able to walk further and just before entering the next area the game froze. I had to restart my PS3 and the game and well what do you know? My save file is gone...

This didn't stop me from retrying so I replayed the whole thing and today the same thing happened at the exact same moment in the game....

Please, tell me how to fix this. I am planning to go back to the store and reclaim my 20 bucks but I'd rather play this game without this nonsense.

  • It is prolly worth mentioning that during my first playthrough I accidently interrupted the saving process (I thought I had skipped on chatting with Sarah when I was about to move to the next scene so I wanted to redo that part). This messed up my save file.

But why did it happen again? I didn't interrupt anything this time and still the corruption occured. I deleted my save game from the save data folder since you recommended this step in a different topic. Is there any way I can be sure that this has solved my problem?

We have had a small amount of reports from players that are playing the game all the way through in one sitting, are experiencing this issue. Can you please clarify if you were playing through the entire game at one time, or did you ever exit the game/turn off your console in-between episodes?

    My save also corrupted.
First, somewhere in the middle of episode 5 "No Going Back", around the part during the snow storm, when Clem gets separated from Kenny and AJ and is working her way to the rest stop building, I got an error when it tried to save, and the PS3 said it was trying to recreate the save. I guess it did so, because the game resumed.

At the end of that chapter, when I had to choose to go on my own with baby AJ, or go with the person I chose to help, the screen faded to black so the next chapter could start. That is where my PS3 crashed. After rebooting it and restarting the game, It acted like it was the first time I was playing and wanted to start me at episode 1.

I have not been playing the entire game in one sitting. In fact, this is my third night on it.
How do I fix this? I had no issues with playing Season 1. I had no issues importing my choices from Season 1.

I have no desire to start all over again.

If this is an issue with Telltale games, then I think I will forgo any future purchases. I just don't have the time or willingness to test products that should be working by the time someone happily takes my money for them, especially when the game launched in 2013.

I usually played 1 chapter per evening, two at the maximum.
So here is how it progressed..

I deleted all my save files and game files TWD2 related. Accidently, I also deleted all of my TWD1 data.. I could laugh about this and decided I wanted to replay TWD1 anyway. When I was about to enter chapter 3, my PS3 crashed at the loading screen! I rebooted my PS3 and tried again.. crashed again.. it crashes every time I try to start chapter 3.. It just shows the load screen before the start of the chapter and freezes after failing to load the game. :S

Man, I hope you guys step things up with your future products. For me, TWD is unplayable at this point, and that can't be right at all. I finished The Wolf Among Us without any errors until I pursuited the Platinum title with trophies. I had to Rewind chapters and create a New Save File which resulted in another "save file corrupted - will recreate" message. But it didn't surprise me and it didn't startle me since I was 2 trophies away from getting my Platinum (which I got with a little delay).

    @ Zynn3d

Sorry to hear what happened to you. The only thing you can do is DELETE ALL YOUR SAVE and GAME FILES from TWD2. Apparently this should work but I can understand if it gets tedious to redo the whole thing (I've been there twice now).

  • I just watched chapter 4 of PewDiePie's playthrough and noticed something that didn't happen in my playthrough!

    Spoilers:

I chopped off Serita's arm at te end of Chapter 3. When starting Chapter 4, in PewDiePie's playthrough, Kenny rushes to Serita when she is getting bitten by even more walkers. This scene, NEVER OCCURED IN MY PLAYTHROUGH. In my playthrough, Serita survived a little longer and suddenly had her arm regenerated! Something must have gone wrong here but I am 100% sure I chopped off her arm.

    End spoiler:

Could this be a glitch that started the whole ordeal?

I apologize for any difficulties this has caused you. Unfortunately I do not have an update on the issue at this time. We are currently looking further into the root cause of the issue. We hope to have a resolution in the near future. Unfortunately at this time, the only workaround is to upload your saves to the Playstation Online Storage and start a new game, or delete the Save Data Utility for the game from the Save Data Utility menu on your PS3's XMB, and start a new game in Season Two. Again, my apologies for any difficulties this may cause you, as we look further into the issue.
