What happens in Fables 148?
After the huge disappointment that was Fables 147, I am expecting this issue to actually further the story and tie up a couple of loose ends.
So what happens? Tell me everything!
And most importantly are Bigby and Snow anywhere to be seen? If they are then tell me exactly what they do!!
Also who has the Last Story in this issue?

I get wanting to get to the exciting stuff but they need to add back story for context. That said, this latest issue is mostly about Rose and Snow White's mother and how she got where she is. It doesn't advance things yet. Im guessing the battles are being saved for the big last issue. The last story belongs to our dear departed Jack of the tales.
So it's ANOTHER filler issue!? For fuck's sake!!

I wouldnt call it filler. Its backstory and its there for a reason. The sisters are going to use this knowledge in their confrontation. I cant tell you much about it though. I only skimmed through it while getting ready for work. Snow and Bigby do appear but I don't want to spoil it. What is Jack's story always about, getting rich and famous, lol. He's trying to rewrite the universe to make himself King.
So Jack is still around?

Fables is the comic that takes place AFTER the events of TWAU. The comic has been running for 13 years now since 2002 and is ending with it's 150th issue in a few months time...

He then says that that there is a trick to having sex being a ghost, also I forgot to mention Jack makes his own universe ;3
Well, since KCohere says it's backstory, I'm willing to give it a second chance (as long as it explores character depth and enriches the story and is used/mentioned in future issues).....
What I am more UPSET about, is Jack's last story. Just when I think I couldn't hate Jack enough, well he outdoes himself again, going back to his irredeemable, grating, infuriating character (making him my official #1 most hated character in all Fables universe)
Seriously, if even in slightest way Jack succeeds in rewriting the universe (to make himself King), I'm gonna be soooooooooooo PISSED OFF at Willingham.
Maybe Briar Rose's Last Story is her death...

And as for Mary... I just realised something. If Jack talks about him having a ghost threesome, then Mary, as much as my heart breaks for saying this, is likely to be one too when it happens.
But on the bright side, as @JamesDalton1995 aptly pointed out, she is techically a ghost already, so perhaps she somehow has both physical and spiritual bodies at the same time, and is able to switch between them or something? Or... is this too far-fetched to be true, and everything I say is just an elusive dream of a lunatic fan refusing to accept reality..? ;-; ... I badly need a hug right now, dude.

Urm.... Mary is kinda difficult to comprehend that way... She has a physical body all the time so she must've died to become a ghost...
But now that Willingham has mentioned her that way; I think TellTale might have to show her ghost at some point; cuz when a character dies in Fables they go straight to the Afterlife (Jack's soul was meant to be claimed by multiple Devils but he escaped while they were arguing over who gets his soul first...) But I'd imagine that if Mary dies inside a mirror, then she becomes trapped in some kind of purgatory?
Remember that her Book of Fables entry states that she can short-cut space and time, maybe her powers of duplication and using mirrors as portals means that she is doomed to forever walk the earth and can't enter the Afterlife because she has no permanent form...
I'm confusing myself with this explanation :P
Look; I feel that with this tiny reference to her in Fables, TellTale NEED to give her more of a story, so TWAU should have her in it again at some point!

Well, as I see it, logically she can't possibly die at all, since, according to the legend, she is dead already and is believed to be a 'childless ghost' (whatever that's supposed to mean), as her entry states. So, maybe she's actually somewhat of a corporeal ghost, embodying attributes of a living being and those of a phantom??? Damn, now I'm confused, too. :P Anyways, she damn sure should be presented in TWAU once again, on that I fully agree.
I think the legend is her child died (not sure how) and she grieved forevermore...
I'm not too sure on the actual legend of Bloody Mary, but I think that's the case :P

So now, Lance has defeated Brandish, what, like 12 times, and still didn't bother to finish him off? That part really had me groaning......
Regarding Bigby and Snow, well I just hope the current turn of events doesn't mean their story will end up in tragedy:(
The backstory about Snow and Rose Red's mom was alright, but I hope that gets concluded in next issue.
Regarding Jack of Fables - is this end even supposed to be canon? Really hate his whole rewrite the whole universe thing. I just hope this is all just one of those dreams hallucinations Jack and Gary has, and in reality they're just dreaming in their new hell.

So Snow has wings now apparently... and I'm assuming from her nightmare that she might go and kill her beloved husband (whom she at first desperately wanted to return, but now is on the fence)
I'm hoping that 149 deals with the following at least:
In other words, no more filler, no more 'dragging it out' We have only 2 issues left of this masterpiece of a series and I can only hope that Willingham can end it with a desirable ending for the fans that isn't rushed.
The last issue definitely won't be rushed, considering it will have 150 pages.
After reading 148 is anyone else wondering if the cubs will have to kill each other eventually?
Maybe the girls will try and kill each other, but not the boys...
The cubs have always fought with each other and I assumed it was just siblings being siblings :P
Therese doesn't seem to be hostile at all. My money would be on Winter though considering she is the new North Wind and is extremely powerful

The pauper is most likely Blossom, considering only the female cubs have anything to do with royalty.
I think they said they are going to make a new universe, not "rewriting" like those random literals from earlier volumes.
So at least Jack is gone for good, heck I wanted him to stay in hell but as long as he GTFO of the old fable world I'm fine with it.
Yeah, I just looked through the Last story again and he does indeed mention "So instead, I decided to invent a new universe...." So guess that means him and Gary are staying in the new universe.
I wished for him to stay in hell too. But like you've said, at least he's gone for good (good riddance!).
Yeah like I figured that they probably wouldn't because they do seem like they wouldn't, but I realised ambrose is the only one we've seen as an adult? What if Ghost is the pauper? because since he's a wind he won't really ever have any possessions?
