"Sorry, this account is not authorized to access this game"

edited December 2014 in Game of Thrones

I have tried everything and this game is simply unplayable on my computer. This error stating "Sorry, this account is not authorized to access this game" appears every time I attempt to start this game.

Anyway, I can't play the game, I can't start it, I get a black screen and then when I click or do anything it closes and that message pulls up, and nothing will happen if I just wait, I'm at my wits end. From what I've seen there is no solution to this issue. So please, Telltale, help!

If this cannot be solved I would also be interested in getting a refund, thank you.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify if you are receiving a Telltale Games error message, or a Windows error message? Could you please provide a screenshot of the error message?

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. Sorry about my exasperated tone I was getting frustrated.

It is a telltale Games error message, and here's a screenshot: http://i1371.photobucket.com/albums/ag320/SpaceGuitar_SuperStar/TelltaleError_zps850db8c9.png

EDIT: Upon further investigation, this is happening when I open ALL of my telltale games: The walking Dead season 2 and The wolf among us. This didn't happen before, strange.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you please clarify if you are receiving a Telltale Games error message, or a Windows error message? Could you please provide a screenshot of the error message?

I apologize for the inconvenience. If you are receiving a Telltale Games Log In pop up right when starting the game on Steam, please close out of the game, and restart your Steam Client.(You should not receive a Telltale Games Log In window pop up message) Then after Steam has finished opening, click Play on the game again, and before you click on the 'Click To Continue' screen, try waiting a few minutes before clicking to continue. You should then not experience the issue again.

There is no log-in pop up, the game is simply a black screen with a mouse arrow. Waited about 15 minutes, an nothing changed. When I click, that pop-up appears. When I close the pop-up, a telltale error stating "Sorry, game failed to initialize" appears. Unfortunately, that solution doesn't seem to work for the issue I'm having.

If you reach a black screen when starting the game, please try switching it to Windowed Mode using the shortcut (Alt+Enter) and see if you are then able to see the game's screen. Then if you are able to see the 'Click to Continue' screen, try waiting a few minutes before clicking to continue. If you still receive the pop up, and error message, please read this Sticky on how to run our Support Tool, and follow the steps to run the tool, and reply here with the download link copied and pasted into a reply. You can find the Sticky here:

Right, sorry I'm finally getting back to this now. Life got in the way, but I still want to play telltale games on my PC, and I still have this problem.

The alt+Enter method does not work at all. Nor does waiting to continue.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Below are a few possible solutions (You may have tried a few of these, but I will provide all of the potential solutions to resolve the issue below):

    1) Ensure you have the latest drivers for both your graphics card, and your computer’s BIOS

    2) Restart your system

    3) Unplug your gamepad (and all other USB devices other than keyboard/mouse) and plug in headphones to the audio out jack.

    4) Verify your cache if you purchased through Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335)

    5) Run the game as admin

    6) Run the game in compatibility mode (right click on game’s icon, click properties, click compatibility tab , and we recommend running the game in Windows 98/ME ) (We recommend Windows 98/ME)

    7) Reinstall the game

    8) Make sure that the Steam application is not set to a compatibility mode (right click on steam and click properties, then check compatibility, and make sure that it is not checked to play in a different OS)

    9) Disable Steam Overlay, if you purchased through Steam (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3168263)

    10) Opt out of the Steam Beta, if you purchased through Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/828934424165581080/)

Can you please clarify if you are still receiving the same 'Sorry, this account is not authorized to access this game' error message when starting the game through Steam? If so, can you please clarify if it occurs after you reach the Click To Continue screen?

I apologize for the delayed response. I noticed you have a Gigabyte technology computer. There are known issues with some Gigabyte motherboards that prevented multiple games from running. You may need to update your BIOS which you can do at Gigabyte's website.

It's also possible this is an audio issue. Please try unplugging all speakers and mics. Then make sure you have headphones plugged into the audio jack on your computer.

Lastly, you may need to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328
