FIXED - No chance to proceed to a different Chapter - Example: Chapter 2 to Chapter 3
Dear Telltale Team, fellow Gamers here in the Forum,
as I am reading the postings I was not the first one having this kind of problem and I guess I won't be the last with TWD Season 2. Please forgive any mistakes with my English as I am German and this is a foreign language for me.
My problem was as simple as that. There was no chance for me to proceed to Chapter 3 in TWD Season 2 after "Chapter 2 / Caught in a Trap"!
Software and Hardware background
- TWD 2 Season 2 is installed on a iPad 4 / iOS 8.1.2 (12B440)
- Language Settings: German or English (I switched for testing purposes)
What did I do to find the bug that prevented me to proceed? This all did NOT help:
- deleting and reinstalling Chapter 3 (and all the others) following some of the suggestions here in the forum (including reboots)
- using different Save files
- I began from scratch again...reinstalling TWD 2 Season 2 completely again. That took me quite some time and was not very funny...but I got stuck again at the same point. No chance to proceed to Chapter 3.
And this is my SOLUTION and this fixed the problem (by the way...reproducibly):
- I switched the iPad language from "German" (as I am a native German) to "English" (Settings/General/Language&Region/English)
- Rebooted the iPad
- at first "Chapter 3" did not show up either but then I thought about an issue in the save file using a foreign language and played the last Chapter of Episode 2 "Caught in a trap" again with "English" setting in the background
- watched the Credits again...I guess I saw it already 50 times and I will buy the song in iTunes....:-)
- and finally I was able to succeed to Chapter 3, beginning with "In harm's way"
....lucky me!
Yes, it took me quite some time to find the bug but as I am quite experienced with those matters, being a part of "Microsoft BETA Core Team" and "Blizzard Beta Testing Team" for more than 15 years already I finally thought about the famous "old language setting glitches". Many games had this throughout history and TWD 2 won't be the last.
Hint: Please put this into your testing scenarios for future releases to give your software a complete walkthrough with different language settings in the back and hopefully I can help some fellow gamers here with my findings.
...and if you need a volunteer for future beta testing with foreign language settings please contact me. As I do love and own all of your famous iOS games like TWD 1 / 2, TWAU and GoT I would be happy to help and support you guys in the future.
Kind regards from good old Germany

Hey!
Fellow austrian here, I'm having this exact problem, although your approach somehow didn't fix it for me.
I started the first season in german, but i changed my ipad to english settings (since the translation for the possible decisions I could make wasn't that good i thought) during the first episode of the first season. I now am conflicted with the same problem you had. I tried switching back to german, playing the last chapter of the second episode of the second season through and couldn't access the third episode. I then switched back to english and tried it again, and it still not worked.
Do you have any other suggestions which i could try to get the problem solved?
PS: i could start a "fresh" game on season 3, but I somehow really want to keep the decisions I made
kind regards,
Servus Thorsten,
I wrote you an answer via PN in German and I hope that this wil help you out. Unfortunately this "Chapter 2/3 Glitch" BUG is a pain in xxxx.
I cross my fingers 4u....wird schon!

Just to add here what solved my problem: the episode 3 WAS THERE THE WHOLE TIME - you just have to scroll right until it shows up (after the "continue current game" chapter of episode 2). The game somehow doesn't display your current progress correctly, although you have finished episode 2!
I scrolled right until episode 3 came up, and started it with my (finished episode 2) save game, which works right away, no lost decisions or anything.
kind regards,
