Do not try and replay e1 or e2 on Xbox One to fix savefile issue. NO SPOILERS I promise.
Seems like so many people are having the same problems there is really no point in me saying the same thing all over again. I just thought I should share what I've done and what doesn't work so you won't have your experienced ruined like I did.
So of course most of the default choices made was the complete opposite of what I did, though I didn't realize this until after I had played some since the episode doesn't really start where you left off. And My Choices like so many others does not show up in the menu. The only people who seems to have this working are people who did not buy the season pass and did not buy it using the search engine on the Xbox itself but bought it via the xbox webpage.
I have replayed episode 1, and that did not help, I even played through episode 2 since I was pretty far in before I remembered what choices I had made, and then making choices I would never do hoping that would fix it and let me rewind to the end of episode 1 so that my choices would pop up. But that did not help either. From what I can tell the problem seems to be this new linking your xbox live account and TT account since previous games had the savefile and choices built into the game itself instead of the cloud or whatever this new system is suppose to do. And another problem seems to be that the episode is not uploaded to the add-on xbox store so even if you download it from in-game you get sent to a page where that says "do not download if you have season pass", it doesn't charge u if you have season pass it just gives you the option to install. But the safest bet would probably be to delete episode 2, maybe even episode 1, keep your savefile, and then redownload when TT says that they've fixed this problem.
Let's just hope the same problem won't happen with Borderlands. While it's annoying I get that sometimes problems will happen, but releasing good reviews on facebook and twitter and not letting people know that there is an issue is dissapointing when you believe in a company so much that you buy their season pass blindly. I get that they are trying to fix the issue and replying to e-mails and comments would just make the process take longer, but if you can post reviews on twitter and facebook, a small message just saying "we are aware of the problem and are working on it" shouldn't be that difficult. I should have figured that there was something wrong since the episode wasn't released on XB1 half a day after PS and 360 version. But you live and learn, will not be downloading episode 2 of Borderlands the day it comes out that' for sure, don't want another episode to be ruined as well.
I've actually talked to Xbox support and they've agreed to start sending out e-mails when the issue will be fixed so if you contact their chat, and want to make sure that it's fixed you can do that aswell.
Comments
There is no spoilers in my post but for some reason it won't let me turn off the spoiler option. But I promise that it's safe to read, the only thing I say about the actual episode is that it doesn't start where episode 1 ended.
My choices shows up in the menu for my game and I have the season pass so doubt that's the issue causing it not to appear.. doesn't matter anyways when the game black screens at the end and wont save that you finished. I bought this season pass because I never had an issue with TWD s1 or 2. Looks like this game didn't get the same treatment or the devs are just fkin lazy
Where do you live, Europe or US? If that isn't the problem then the bug must be random.
United States, I also had to dl the episode from the store because the in game installer was broken and just said coming soon. I'd let your voice known in the thread on the main page about disappointment with the X1 version if they can't fix this mess we should be refunded
I'll try and post it there aswell again, for some reason it just got spoiler tagged and put in this section.
there now it's posted on the main GOT page aswell. I tried to ask xbox support if I could just delete season pass, and then refund my money directly into my wallet, so that I could purchaes the episode on the webpage or give me a download code for the episode since this problem doesn't seem to have happened to reviewers, but they told me that would not fix the problem. They told me the issue should be solved by the end of the day so if it's not fixed by twomorrow I'll try and contact them again, and if they can't do anything I will just wait until episode 3 comes and then delete everything and my savefile and try to start from scratch, though I hope it won't come to that.
I had the same issue with the in-gane installer just showing: "Coming Soon." and having to dl it from the store. it's still not working at this time, I was hoping it would be by this point. I also purchased the season pass, so I feel stuck in just waiting, I don't want it to have been a waste of money if I buy it on something else. And still nothing shows up on this damn site either for my choices. This is just really something I never expected from here.
Guess I'll just have to wait, which is really hard...
I'm in Europe, the Netherlands.
I don't have the season pass and I bought it via the ad on the dashboard. My choices don't carry over.
Aaaaand... Still no fix, at all, or any word or apology, just one small message to let us know they know it, and that SO called they are fixing it, yeah, sure... I don't believe it anymore, I really, REALLY don't.
Why replay EP 2? Can't even finish it anyway.
what about deleting the game and save files and then replaying?
You'd be wasting your time, believe me.
I was actually able to finish the episode, I thought maybe the game would fix itself If played through it and "my choices" would then pop up. But no luck, though I did not have that blackscreen problem people are talking about.
I'm still waiting on a refund or a public apology atleast.
I apologize for the delayed response, and any difficulties this has caused. For those still experiencing this, we are currently working resolving the issue, and hope to have an update on a resolution soon. If you are currently experiencing this issue on Xbox One, could you please clarify the Country/Region you are currently located in, whether you are connected to the internet via a wired or wireless connection, and when you played through Episode 1? (Did you play Ep 1 when it first released, or more recently?)
Hey Mike, it's been nearly a week since the issue was publicly discovered... did no one in-house play Ep2 on the XBOX One?
Based on the various (and numerous) responses on these boards, the issue isn't with our location or our internet connection. The issue seems to arise from something to do with your end in relation to XBOX One accessibility. From what I gather, the issue may stem from some problem in data being saved.
On the XBOX One, are choices being saved to our console or is it being saved to your server (cloud)? If not our console, then perhaps that's a large part of the problem there - which is accessing the data from your end on our consoles.
It seems like this is the obvious issue, so pardon my skepticism when I see you ask these questions - which appears to be some feeble attempt to placate the masses by suggesting that significant effort is being placed on problem solving. I think you all know the problem, you just don't know how to fix it (and you don't want to offer up any refunds).
It's been nearly a week, Mike. I very much enjoy TTG's games, but we can't enjoy what we paid for if we can't actually play it (or at least in a way that sold us on the product).
I'm in United Kingdom, connected via wired connection and played through Episode 1 when it was first released.
Although I have since deleted game, season pass and save file from my Xbox and started again to see if that fixed the problem. It didn't though.
