Confused about TWAU comic issue covers.

edited February 2015 in The Wolf Among Us

Why do the covers for issues 7 and 8 (the ones I've read up to so far) depict Bigby holding Snow close to him in a protective manner?

I can understand the foreshadowing nature that TWAU depicts sometimes, but the hugging is really out of place...

What do you think??

  • I don't see a problem with it. Anyone who's read the comic or played the game all the way through know they have feelings for each other. I just see it as a pretty cover.

  • I agree completely that it's a pretty cover, but for the setting of TWAU, it just seems out of place :/

  • Well, I guess they are sticking to the spirit of it instead of being super literal. Or maybe they are trying to draw Snow and Bigby shippers in lol

  • I guess...

Still in spite of it; that cover is very sweet XD

  • Alright, maybe a little out of place. But I love that cover! It is so damn sweet! :D

Also, Snow kinda resembles Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite here.

  • It is a very sweet cover, they don't do enough of that in Fables :P

    She does kinda...

  • Unlike the main series, TWAU comics don't seem to relate the covers to the main storyline.

    But I don't mind.

  • The main series by Bill Willingham always has covers that are misleading. I personally like what they did for this issue cover of TWAU, but I guess I see where you're coming from. The cover might be a representation on the way Bigby feels for Snow, and vice versa. I haven't read any of TWAU comics yet, but I hope they're good ^-^

  • They follow the games story, but it doesn't follow it 100%

For example in the issue that came out today, we see Rose Red with Jack Horner...

I have only read up to issue 8, but I will be buying this comic in TP when it gets released for sure!

  • I noticed that, too and thought this was indeed misleading but I guess if you've never played the game OR read FABLES and this is your first time seeing it, anyone would think 'DAAAAAW a romance comic book!' and buy it. Unaware of its true awesome-ness that is inside! :D

But seeing as about 98% people already know they have that 'tension' to one another, why not just include it? It is a very well done comic. The art is beautiful and Bigby narrating is neat, too. :3

They are very neat comics. If you ever wish to see them (your choice, of course) you can see them here. Comixology I was surprised by it and love it. :3

I'm normally the one who suggests that site dude :P

That's where I've been reading Fables from issue 141 onwards!! XD

It's also where I've been reading TWAU comic as well :P

I only heard about it yesterday from Pie XP

  • Fables is pure gold in entertainment and awesomeness... and I never want it to go :'(

I like how the comic does things differently to the game; like the interactions with Woody and the Tweedles are very different, and we meet Rose Red in a brief cameo in the latest issue!!

  • LOL I know. I see you doing it all the time and thought 'hey...let me be helpful, too!' :D

That's the only place he reads them. I buy mine at www.comixology.com but I know a lot of people do not want to buy them.

I know!! I'm trying not to say too much cause Pie has not read it but I'm so happy they added her in there, considering Jack and Rose DO date in FABLES for awhile. :)

I just wanted to see Gren, man. :P

  • I already told him :/

Their 'relationship' was NEVER shown in Fables though, only mentioned, so I guess it's something to see them together during the events of TWAU :)

  • Yeah, I figured that from what I saw in the previews of some of the issues. I plan on reading them eventually!

Oh I totally plan on reading them eventually, I just have been focused on four other comics I read XD

EDIT: I actually went on and looked on one of the sites you recommended, and I noticed that when Bigby has his monologue of sorts, it's the same way they do it in FABLES whenever the issue is like a report from him as sheriff ^-^ Just thought it was super neat.

I haven't read the comics yet do they take place before the game? I read Fables but not TWAU

  • This comic is based on TWAU game, so yes it takes place 20 years before Fables just like the game does :P

It isn't a direct rip of the game however as countless things have been changed such as Rose Red making an appearance with Jack...

  • The comic is the game! It's TWAU as a comic :D

Of course there have been changes to interactions and some new characters have been introduced, but it follows the exact same plot as TWAU (it is set at the same time as it because it tells the exact same story)

  • With extras. It's not 100% literal. There's enough different to make it an interesting read on its own.
