I think it's a perfect excuse. You hear that word again when you talk to Malcolm. Duty to your family seems to be a strong part of the culture of Westeros. Mira's in a position to solve her house's problems, but what her mother asks of her is bold and at risk to her mistress' position. What I get from her repetition is that she hopes she can convince Margaery, but she's also afraid of putting that risk on her, and at the same time willing to take rejection, because at least then she can tell her mother that she did as she requested and Margaery won't suffer for making a controversial request on her behalf. So Mira's a little stressed out and a little nervous, and that can cause someone to stumble over words, run their mouth a little too fast, or repeatedly mention something, or more than one thing, over and over.
Basically, the guy shoots Mira in the head, but out of her head fly more of these pics, each with a speach bubble 'My mother insisted', while the guy stands there with a 'FFFFFFFUUUUUU-!' face.
Hahahahahahaha you guys crack me up!!! Because when my Mira said it over and over again I started feeling embarrassed and thought "shut up already!" Now I'm thinking it would be kinda cool if she says it when they find out that she killed that dude who attacked her... "I didn't WANT to kill him, but ... my mother insisted!"
