Episode Two keeps lagging

I'm just starting out on the second episode but it has so much lag that I can't get past one prompt because it freezes and I get killed. Tried restarting and that did nothing. First episode worked well, very frustrating

  • Mine lags and pixels are horribly distorted. I have to pause game every minute in order to see choices. The audio lags and overlaps that I had to put on subtitles but they overlap too.

  • I thought I was the only one. Any news on this guys? This is pretty frustrating. Gone are the days when you purchase completed games. Now you get a half finished product and have to wait a few weeks/months for them to work out the kinks. And nobody in the video game industry is held accountable for it. I have bought every episode of every Telltale game since The Walking Dead Season 1, but this will be the last dime they get out of me!

  • Lag issue with ep 2 is so bad I can't get past the first fucking fight with asher and the lost legion. Jfc.

  • Also have the same problem. Very frustrating. Have any of you heard back from TT or seen any fixes on other sites? I had a few lagging issues in my EP1 download, but they were manageable and less frequent as the game progressed, but yes, I also can't get past the first fight sequence.

  • Same problem here, took me ages to get past the first part. Sometimes the sound started before the video and missed the quicktime events. Heard the IOS version is unplayable too. Such a shame.

  • Heard nothing as yet, beginning to think they don't care too much. Have you seen the threads for xbone issues?

I sincerely apologize for the delayed response, and any difficulties caused by this. If you are currently experiencing the issue, please try Clearing your System's Cache then restart the episode, and see if the hitching decreases, and the framerate improves.

  • I have the same problem as described above, severe lag causes me to unavoidably die at the same point. Tried clearing cache. It doesn't work. Problem persists.

  • During the fight in the bar (1st scene), when Asher and the leader of the group of mercenaries you are fighting crash through a wall, and you are prompted to pick up a sword on the floor. At this point the game almost freezes entirely and its impossible to prevent Asher from being killed as the gameplay returns to normal.

When the icon appears during that Quick-Time Event, it is timed so that you need to press the button just as the icons line up with each other. If you press it too soon, or too late, you will fail the Quick-Time Event. Can you please clarify if you have tried pressing the on-screen icon at different times, to see if it allows you to progress past that portion of the episode?

  • Thanks for your reply.

I can't speak for other members on this thread. But in my case, the gameplay almost freezes entirely. I have tried literally dozens of times, pressing the correct buttons at different stages in the hope that I'd fluke it and be allowed to progress, but the game doesn't seems to register it at all, it just freezes for a few seconds and when the game resumes Asher is killed.

I am having the same problem and have 50% space left on the hard drive. The game freezes every time I get to this same point in the game. I was able to get a few frames forward in the game, but it still freezes. Don't think this is how the game was designed to operate, even if a player chose incorrectly. Please send along a solution asap, TTM. Why isn't there a phone # to call or e-mail address that responds quickly? I've emailed several times re: the XBOX 360 version and have had no response in the past 3 weeks. We (I) paid for this game and it doesn't work on XBOX 360 correctly. A refund would be appreciated or a patch that fixes this ASAP. Thank you.

My apologies, our Support Staff has had an overwhelming amount of emails after the release of Game of Thrones Episode 2, and are working hard to answer every one. If you have not heard back yet, you should be hearing back soon.

If you are experiencing any freezing or hitching during gameplay, please first make sure that both the game, and your Xbox 360 are updated to the latest version. Also make sure that you have started the game while connected to the internet and signed into an Xbox Live account to make sure you have received the latest content from our servers. Then start the game again, and the performance should be improved.

Finally, if you are still experiencing the issue, you can also try Clearing your System's Cache then starting the game again.

  • I'm having a similar issue on the tablet. It doesn't freeze exactly, but in the fight with the legion I grab the sword then a click dot flashes so quickly I can't tap it before I'm killed. I've tried anticipating it and tapping like crazy but it doesn't work. Its there for less than a second before I die.

Can you please clarify what device you are playing on specifically? Also, if it is an Android device, have you tried force closing any and all applications running in the background to make sure all of the device's processing power is devoted to the game?

  • Thread: GOT game very buggy on Xbox 360

GOT episode 2 very laggy its unplayable, and not very enjoyable on Xbox 360, episode 1 was laggy as well but not as bad as episode 2. i have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it again same issue.

  • Thread: Glitches

I've been experiencing some glitches in the first two episodes of GoT. The game will repeat some lines of dialogue, subtitles won't show up, dialogue will become out of sync with the cutscene, and sometimes it will freeze for a couple seconds. I'm in love with the characters, the writing is fantastic, the voice acting for new and returning characters is stellar, but every now and again the immersion is broken because of the previously mentioned glitches. Did I miss an update? Does my xbox just suck? Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is there going to be a patch? I'd appreciate any help.

  • Verizon 4g LTE tablet. I've tried closing all other programs but this still happens. Not an issue of lag but that the tap target barely appears before he stabs me. I've tried tapping away in anticipation but nothing works. No matter how fast or where I tap I die and there's no time to react.

My apologies, in that particular Quick-Time Event, you will need to wait until the icons on both sides of the screen merge to the middle icon, and you have to time the tap at the right point in order to complete that particular Quick-Time Event. If you are experiencing any performance issues, can you please clarify the Brand, and Model name of the tablet you are currently using? Is it a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, or a different brand?

  • I'm having the same problem but slightly variated. The three Episodes in GoT so far, have all had scenes which lagged, audio overlapped or just flat audio cut off. However, this problem was is completely enamored when I attempt my 2nd playthrough on the 2nd episode and not only does the audio cut off completely and IMMDiATELY but the screen blacks out as soon as mercenaries enter. I've retried several times and now this grim fate has become inescapable. I have a 360 arcade with an aftermarket 320 gn HDD with 180 space left. Ive played other games discs and downloaded yet they do not have these kind of bugs. Except for mass effect 1 which my hard drive won't let read for some reason. It's the game FIX THIS

My apologies, please try try Clearing your System's Cache then starting the game again, and you should not experience the black screen/audio issues. If you do, please try deleting and re-downloading the second episode on your console.

  • For me, everywhere. It's nearly fucking unplayable.

I start up the episode, and it freezes on the loading screen. I actually rebooted my xbox to see if that helped, but it froze a second time on the same loading screen. I grabbed a beer from the fridge, and it unfroze itself after a few minutes and started playing, but the audio was all fucky and all over the place during the "previously". Voices would cut out, video would freeze frame for a second, and then the audio cut out altogether.

The first scene was okay for the first little bit where you walk around an stuff, i thought maybe the issue went away but as soon as the quick time events started i kept dying because the options would flash for half a second and give me no chance to chose them. After the first seen when the uncle comes, the moment the uncle started talking the audio cut out again and he's just moving his lips while the others 2 stare at him. Awkward.

Then the intro was okay, but the video was very choppy and lagging at what felt like 5 FPS.

And that's as far as i've gotten before i was pissed enough to come back to this website, after previously being pissed off that Episode 4 wouldn't download, only to find out here it's not actually available until may 27 (despite saying otherwise).

I also have the walking dead series and the wolf among us, and never had these kinds of issues. The wolf among us is a masterpiece, but this... this is simply garbage. If i didn't like game of thrones so much i would have turned it off already and gave up on it. Hell, i might still do that if my frustration can't get through this episode.

I feel like you stole my money. I feel like i was tricked into buying a season pass for something i thought would enjoy, but got handed a cheap, knock off product made from salvaged parts, that was made by some mentally handicapped children from some third world nation. I don't think i'll ever buy another one of your products again.

Can you please clarify the point in the episode in which you are experiencing the issue?

We have recently released an update that should resolve the performance issues within Game of Thrones. Please make sure that you have downloaded and installed the latest Update, and you should no longer experience these lagging/hitching issues in-game. Please note that Episode 4 will be available for Microsoft consoles starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 27th. If you are seeing the episode as available early, it is in error, and I apologize for any difficulties this has caused.
