Why TWAU is my least favourite current TT game...

  • That wasn't the bad writing of the Episode (should've made that clear, sorry)

The bad writing was having the Mundy cops discover Fabletown and Brannigan chasing Bigby, it interferes too much with the Fables comics.. But adding things like exploring Toad's and Lawrence's places and acquiring those items of interest, you lose them after Ep.1...

Why was going to Toad's place bad writing?

  • So, the bad first. I didn't like the relatively short length of the episodes, like you said some characters are underdeveloped and something seems pointless. Also, that the game have rewrites which meant inconsistencies at the beginning.

    And now here's the love.

I immensely enjoyed the fighting and action scene of the Wolf Among Us. The best fight in my opinion was the fight with Jeresy Devil. The best action scene was Bigby chasing Georgie and Vivian in his werewolf form. Bigby is a well-developed character and Telltale handled him quite well. I always feels like a superhero while playing as him. Despite some inconsistencies at the beginning, the rest of the episodes stayed relatively consistence. The story was good in my opinion.

I would have liked that the game have a bit more puzzles and collecting items as a detective would do. Generally a lot more detective work would have been very nice as it fits Bigby's character. I would have liked to sit in Bigby's office and look on the clues he has gathered. The office only appeared in episode 4.

I may get a lot of negative responds saying this, but despite the flaws of The Wolf Among Us, it is my favorite Telltale game of 2013. I feel it is better than Walking Dead season 2.

The story had some disappointing moments and whatnot but overall I loved the characters, setting, and the rest of the story in this game. Its my third favorite (with Game of Thrones and Walking Dead:Season One above it) and Tales from the Borderlands being my least favorite.

  • Well maybe they could've made it six episodes instead of 5, to give the Crooked Man more time. He deserved longer.

Well he isn't always killed off. You can just have him turned into a crow so he's actually a determinant character. But being a determinant

  • Characters like Beauty and Beast really bugged me- both (especially Beast) had a lot of potential, but instead neither of them played that big a role.

If Telltale made the episodes longer, (preferably episodes 2, 4, and 5) the season probably wouldn't have had the problem of certain side ch

  • I will admit that some of the chase scenes were brilliantly done, but otherwise they fights were similar to those you get in other TT games. And, sorry mate, I can't agree that it was better than TWD S2.

  • Well to be fair, Borderlands has only 1 episode out right now- I don't know, it might surprise everyone by suddenly becoming bad. But, at least in the first episode, I think Borderlands is better than TWAU

  • Oh, I see. Well, obviously, they made a mistake there but I think that they did an admirable job of getting around it. I mean, the OP doesn't have to like the game, not every game fits everyone's style, but I loved it.

  • The game got boring towards the end and in my opinion georgie was a cop out. I get the impression telltale didn't know who the killer was so they just blamed the pimp because "pimps kill hos" it sucked. And I hated the way that ginger guy was every where, I wasn't on these forums yet so I didn't know about the rewrite I couldn't understand how the big bad sheriff didnt spot the guy lingering around every where, he looked so suspicious I was sure he was involved. I disliked snow from the very beginning. And what was the point in picking stuff up? Why was there an inventory? I get the impression the game was supposed to be so much more than it ended up being.

  • I didn't enjoy Tales from the Borderlands that much. It was good first episode and I am looking forward to the rest of the series but it isn't really something so far that has me that invested in the story and characters like Telltale's other games have. I still enjoy Wolf Among Us more.

  • True. I wouldn't say the game got boring towards the end, but it was certainly rushed and could've been done a lot better. As far as I know, the last two episodes were much shorter than the previous episodes. And yes, blaming Georgie was ant-climactic as hell. My main problem with the whole thing was how they just killed off the Crooked Man in one episode. And yes, I also didn't like Snow- she was a pretty rubbish character to begin with, and then she started a whole crusade against Fables who didn't have glamours, not considering the fact AT ALL that others couldn't afford them.

My main problem with The Wolf Among Us is that the first episode is amazing and it goes downhill from there. The plot twist with Crane at the end of Episode 2 showed promise, but Episodes 3 and 4 were simply there just to be there. They're basically just filler episodes, or that's how I felt about them (even with Bloody Mary's first appearance, since she's one of the most interesting out of all of the characters). I was extremely disappointed in the Crooked Man. He's anticlimactic and gets everyone to do his work for him. I don't see what's so threatening or scary about him, besides his henchmen and the power he holds over the people of Fabletown (who want him gone anyway). It seems like they could have introduced him earlier in the game and made him a better villain instead of having his character depend on the people he uses as puppets. I get that that's his whole point, but it made the game fall short in my eyes. I still love TWAU, but that's why it's also my least favorite. I was never disappointed by any of the other games, at least for now (since GOT and TFTB aren't finished yet).

  • Episode 3 wasn't filler. You have the right to not have liked it, but it wasn't filler. And Episode 4 should've just been combined with Episode 5, considering how short it was. I beat it in 70 something minutes.

  • Everyone has an opinion obviously, but it is my favorite TTG by far. With TFTB being my second favorite so far.

  • Yeah, Episode 4 was ridiculously disappointing. I finished it and sat there like "Is that it???"

Episode 3 was much better than Episode 4, but I still think it wasn't the best way to push the story along. Not like it's that episode's fault, but after you see what happened in Ep. 4, it just made it feel like Episode 3 became filler. I will say that you're totally right when it comes to Bigby's relationship with people in the game (which later affects Episode 5), but when it comes to the main conflict (which is the Crooked Man), I felt that it lacked in his story. Not in decision making or swaying the people of Fabletown in a different way, but that episode could have been used to create more fear in The Crooked Man and Bloody Mary than just Bloody Mary. I don't like The Crooked Man's character at all, so it seems to me like if they had changed him all around and earlier as the main villain, he would have been more interesting. Maybe that's why I see Ep. 3 as more filler than anything, but it's also true that it's not completely filler. By the way, thank you for not raking me across the coals for not liking either of those episodes since I was expecting people to explode on me a little for that.

  • I have only played The Walking Dead Season 1 & 2 and the wolf among us and I like the wolf among us the best followed closely by season 1 of The Walking Dead then obviously season 2 but I think the reason I like those too so much more is because it's hard for me to immerse myself as a 10 year old protagonist are Game of Thrones Jurassic Park or Borderlands good Telltale Games ?

  • the drastic park 1 if it is a telltale Games like the usual seems to have a lot of potential to me

  • Jurassic Park got some horrible reviews though I've never played it myself so I can't really say.

Game of Thrones is excellent and if the season is as good as its been or (hopefully) better by the season finale then it will be my favorite Telltale series (#2 on the list right now).

Tales from the Borderlands is OK in my opinion. It has its moments and has interesting characters but the story isn't that immersing like Telltale's other games are IMO. Its my current least favorite from them right now.
