Yeah, Dontnod ran into the same problem with Remember Me, where publishers rejected the game because it also had a female lead.
Too bad RM bombed, though Capcom is partly to blame since they barely advertised the game after the initial reveal.
Not sure how Episode 1 sold, but apparently Square was happy with the game's critical reception and sales.
What if the choice between the bacon omelet and belgian waffle affects the story? I can already see the "this choice will have consequences" popping up after we make our decision.
I'm glad they kept her a girl and the creative freedom to tell the story they want to tell. I would have chosen the Bacon Omlet, Max needs the extra calories to burn when using her powers.
Well it seems Dontnod's panel at Pax East is over, and while they didn't give an exact date for episode 2, they once again confirmed that it… more is being released this month.
During the panel, they revealed some concept art they showed to publishers, back when they were looking, probably back in 2013 when they began developing the game. They also revealed that they had over 100 different titles for the game, two of which were "Butterfly" and "What If".
They also talked about how they made the deal with Square Enix, and how they were the perfect publisher for the game, because they gave them total creative freedom over the game. Other publishers they pitched the game to wanted Dontnod to change Max's gender.
I'm pretty sure they talked about this in the past.
(Very minor spoilers, since they don't specify what happens)

Oh with Remember Me, the publishers they went to, before Capcom, basically told them "Oh, your game's main character is a woman? Then fuck off, because games with female leads aren't successful. You need a male lead, you bloody amateurs".
wanted Dontnod to change Max's gender.

I see this request for literally every game with a female protaonist I've ever played, even the Cat Lady.
It seems like people are happie… morer 'putting up' with female charaters if they can still romance women. Like sexuality matters at all.
So far we have no reason to believe Max is bi/gay. She has expressed romantic interest in boys in her diary, and none in women.
Why can't two female leads just be friends?

I never want to romance Chloe. However I would like a choice to either romance Chloe, Warren, or not give a fuck and not romance anyone. If they force us to romance a certain person then I will be seriously upset.

Why can't two female leads just be friends?
In the ending of Episode 1, when it snows it showed a bunch of people we met and the guy who owned the RV. But there's one on the campus looking at their camera at the picnic table; I don't recognize him. Does anyone know who it is? Or is he a new character?
This is one of those unfortunate artifacts of appealing to a wide audience: with most gamers being straight males, it's more likely to maintain interest if there's a hint of sexual attraction between two attractive females than two attractive males, or possibly even a male and female lead.
It's also unlikely you'll ever see an unattractive lesbian or gay couple in a game, also because of the audience appeal. I'm not even sure of a TV show that's done it, to be honest, though I haven't really sought out evidence to disconfirm that claim.
Anyway, I totally agree that two female leads should be able to be "just friends", as making every encounter between characters contain a thread of sexual tension can in turn make the relationship building between them shallow. And as for the audience that seems to need the hint of that "rule 34", well, that's about as negative a reinforcement as you can get.

Just yesterday I was trying to throw some sense at people for being all upset about the study revealed at GDC suggesting that boys were cool playing as girls and girls really wanted to play as girls. They saw it as more proof that devs were being forced to do gender quotas (no doubt they've gotten random notes for everything under the sun including this, but that's what corporate does, send useless notes suggesting stupid creative decisions), but there's quite a few stories of devs having to fight for female leads or even having major female characters on the cover.
And they did this with a game which is quite popular with female gamers. Hell, Total Biscuit liked this game, but he brought his wife in on the WTF video because she really liked it. And yet we keep treating female gamers as this weird accident of pursuing us men. Targeting them as a demographic is somehow violating the gender neutrality that is the lynch pin of all gaming. No, we must prove our gender neutrality by continuing to target only boys.

Death just seems to follow her everywhere she goes. It's sad.
But speaking of Chloe, do you think it's possible that she'll be able to actually witness Max's power? I mean... how do I put this? ...Like we see that Max's power allows her to hold onto objects even after rewinding. Like the hammer. It seems if she's holding something, the object goes back in time with her. Do you think if she's holding Chloe like in the concept art, Chloe would follow back in time with her the moment Max activates her power? It'd be pretty interesting if that's the case.

I think I'll just throw my PC out the window once the choice pops up.
It's as bad as picking between Pizza and Ice Cream.
I'm going to guess the bacon omelette is pork, so I'm going with Belgian waffles, simple choice for me.
They better give us the option to romance chloe.
Well... they did post a polaroid of Max and Chloe holding hands on Valentine's day. Could they be trying to tell us something?

Because platonic friendship apparently doesn't exist.
Besides, you don't always need romantic undertones to create an engaging relationship two people of any gender.
I get the feeling that David Madsen is going to be present in the diner. He's practically everywhere.
Maybe, after all, his wife works there. If he isn't there, he probably has at least one hidden camera.
If this thread isn't at 200 pages by the end of the season I will be very disapointed lol
Really Flog?

Because Chloe is hot and i want to romance her
Lol
hmmm....
Not saying it's gonna get as popular, but I think life is strange will get more popular with each episode kinda like how TWD S1 did.

Ehh Lip-synching still seems a little off from what I can tell, but it looks a little better.
I bet this thread will have 200 pages before Telltale releases Tales from the Borderlands Episode 2

This is tempting me.....

Nice. This has whetted my appetite for more.
The lip synching does seem a bit off
The atmosphere is still damn charming and amazing.
Just need to be a little a more patient.... sigh
Wrong thread. Try the Whatever is on Your Mind Megathread. :P

Not necessarily a spoiler. I think we all saw this coming. Pretty awesome though.
Concept art for Life is Strange found in the community section of the site. Annnd I found this too.
Life is Strange is coming to EGX Rezzed March 14. Full details on the developer session can be found at http://www.egx.net/rezzed/news/life-is-strange-comes-to-egx-rezzed #lifeisstrange
And let's not forget a piece of fan art I found on the site too.

It might be Evan or some guy...
I swear Chloe just likes to die or something.

Wasn't that guy Nathan? It seems like the ending scene just shows the main NPCs of the game. The ones that show up on Max's journal.
Super cool, this game captures its atmosphere just as perfectly as Alan Wake.
Yep, and just like Alan Wake I wish I could freely explore the town, although, that would break the narrative.
Maybe someday when free-roaming and storytelling will actually combine together smoothly - like peanut butter and jelly!
Oh that would be great. Maybe in the future devs will find a way of making it work.
You know, Alan Wake was supposed to be an open world game.
Thhere is a game with a simmilair setting to Alan Wake and Life Is Strange that is open world. It's called Deadly Premonition.
Death just seems to follow her everywhere she goes. It's sad.

EDIT: Got rid of a repeat of words.
