I apologize for the inconvenience. Below are a few possible solutions (You may have tried a few already, but I will post all of the potential solutions to resolve your issue below):

    1) Ensure you have the latest drivers for both your graphics card, and your computer’s BIOS

    2) Restart your system

    3) Unplug your gamepad (and all other USB devices other than keyboard/mouse) and plug in headphones to the audio out jack.

    4) Verify your cache if you purchased through Steam (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335)

    5) Run the game as admin

    6) Run the game in compatibility mode (right click on game’s icon, click properties, click compatibility tab , and we recommend running the game in Windows 98/ME ) (We recommend Windows 98/ME)

    7) Reinstall the game

    8) Make sure that the Steam application is not set to a compatibility mode (right click on steam and click properties, then check compatibility, and make sure that it is not checked to play in a different OS)

    9) Disable Steam Overlay, if you purchased through Steam (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3168263)

    10) Opt out of the Steam Beta, if you purchased through Steam (http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/828934424165581080/)

  • I have tried all of these, and absolutely nothing has changed, Is there anything I could do?

My apologies, please also try toggling between Windowed Mode/Full Screen Mode by using the PC Shortcut (Alt+Enter), and see if you are able to complete that particular scene in Windowed Mode/Full Screen Mode. You can then change it back after that scene, and be able to progress without issue.

If you are currently playing the game with 5.1 Surround Sound enabled, you can also try changing your sound settings to Stereo (Left and Right) output, and see if that resolves the screen going black for you.

I have tried your solution and still haven't had anything change, changing the sound options also did not work. If this helps at all I have a screen shot of my state, I can still move the cursor over the gun and the car but if I click, the HUD goes away and I'm left at the dark screen with the dialogue and die after the dialogue ends http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=409650855

Thank you for providing the screenshot. Can you please clarify if you experienced any similar issues with using the Echo Eye in Episode 1? Or is this the first you've experienced this issue?

Unfortunately this particular graphical issue may be related to your computer's graphics card is currently running at the minimum system requirements to run the game successfully. Can you please clarify if you have tried adjusting the in-game resolution and graphics settings to a lower setting? You can also try lowering the resolution of your monitor, and see if you are then able to progress through that scene without experiencing the issue.

Unfortunately if none of my potential solutions were able to resolve your issue, my only other suggestion would be to delete your saves for Episode 2 in-game, then try replaying Episode 2 from the start, and make sure that you do not have any other programs open and running in the background while you are playing the game, and see if you are then able to progress past that scene successfully.
