After episode 2 came can't start game

Hi. I've played the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands but when I got a comfirmation mail from you that the second episode was avaliable and tried to start the game (android version on an ASUS Padphone Infinity) the game won't even start. The screen just turns black for a short moment, nothing else. I have over 5 Gb left so it shouldn't be a memory issue. I tried to re-install the game, but with the same result. What can I do?

  • I am having a very similar issue.

When I start Tales from the Borderlands after installing episode 2, The screen sits at the "Updating Content Connecting to Server"
It will just sit there and does not change.
Please followup and look into the issue.
    Thank you.

@Robaron Please make sure that you have updated the Game Application to the latest version. Then reset your device, and start the game application. You should then be able to successfully start the game, and download Episode 2.

@Datarock Please make sure that you are connected to a strong WiFi network connection when starting the game app so that you receive the latest content from our servers in order to start the game successfully. You may need to restart the game a few times in order to connect depending on your current connection strength.

  • The game is set to auto-update so I can only believe it is the latest version. I restarted my phone and tried to open the game. Same result; a black screen for a second, then it bounces back to the Borderland-app on Google Play. If I try to start it from the phone without going in on Google play, same thing happens; black screen for a second, then I'm back on my screen again

  • Same thing is happening to me with Borderlands and GOT. Neither will load just stuck on connecting to server screen. Are your servers down??

  • I've got the same issue. Actually I can hear music and sounds playing, but the screen is pitch black. I am using Asus Transformer Prime if that would help.

I apologize for the inconvenience. Below are a few potential solutions:

    1) Make sure your OS is updated to the most recent version

    2) Force stop the application, and then relaunch it

    3) Reset your WiFi settings by turning them Off, and back On then reconnect with the network.

    4) Turn off your device for a few minutes, before attempting to launch the game again.

    5) Go to the device’s Settings Menu, then go to Applications, then Manage Applications, and select the Game Application and tap ‘Clear Data’.

    6) Delete the application from your device, and re-download it from the App Store (Please note that this will NOT delete your save data)

Tried all that, nothing has helped. Unfortunately my device doesn't want to update its OS which is Android 4.1.1. Interesting thing that now The Game of Thrones has updated and I experience the same problem with it. So I guess that's probably additions to the game engine. So sad. I have just bought season passes for both games.

My apologies, unfortunately your particular device's GPU does not meet the minimum system specifications to run the game successfully. While we require a minimum of a Tegra 4 chipset, your device is currently running on a Tegra 3 chipset. This may result in graphical and performance issues such as the ones you are describing. If my above recommended potential solutions did not resolve the issue for you, I recommend contacting Google Play Support for further assistance, and see if they have any other potential solutions for you.

Can you please clarify which Kindle Fire HD model in particular you are currently using? The Fire, Fire HD, or Fire HDX? Also would you happen to know what year model it is, and what Android OS version number it is currently updated to?

  • I'm having the exact same problem. I have a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9". I was able to play the game perfect before episode 2 came out, and now it only cuts out when I try to open the app

My apologies, have you tried deleting and re-downloading the game application from the Amazon App Store? (Your save files will not be harmed in the process) If not, I recommend trying this, and see if you are able to then download and play Episode 2 successfully.

  • My device is rooted, and I'm downloading it from Google Play, because I bought it on Google before I got my HDX. Its worked with all the versions up until episode 2 came out. I've tried reinstalling it, clearing cache, etc, yet it won't work. I really don't wanna have to buy the game and season pass on the Amazon store, though I've already paid for it on Google Play.

Can you please clarify if you are able to see the Headphones screen such as @audreyarthur explained? Or, do you not reach that screen, and only see a black screen?

Which generation Kindle Fire HD are you using? 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Generation?

@terrythedjcat Can you please clarify if you have updated the game app to the latest version? Without being on the latest version, the game app may not open. Unfortunately if updating the app does not allow you to play, please note we do not officially support running the Android version of the game on an Amazon device at this time, and gameplay/performance issues such as these may occur.

  • Yes, I have updated to version 1.47, but it still crashes. It used to work with 1.21, but now it always crashes.

I recommend either playing the game on an Android device, or requesting a refund from Google Play so that you can purchase the game from the Amazon App Store for your Kindle device.

  • Well, it used to work, but now it doesn't. Plus, I read in the google play reviews that some other people are experiencing the same problem.

Thank you for providing the extra information that the update was able to resolve your issue. I hope you are now able to enjoy the game!
