Episode 2 not working
I just downloaded episode 2 and it is not working. It get stuck on a black screen and never loads even though I can still hear the background music. I tried uninstalling and deleting everything and backing up my saves. Now, I have lost my saves because for some reason the game doesn't recognize them after I put the backed up files in my documents folder, and it still doesn't work!

I have the exact same problem than you. The drak screen with the background music when I try to launch episode 2. I don't know what to do about it and I don't find any answer anywhere...
Can Telltale please help?
BUMP
Same here. Please help!
Telltalemike?
My apologies for the delayed response. Please try starting the game again, and when you see the blank/black screen, please try switching the game to Windowed Mode using the shortcut (Alt+Enter for PC, Command+F for Mac) and see if you are then able to see the game correctly. If so, please then try changing the game's resolution and/or graphics settings to a lower setting, and click Apply. Then try switching back to Full Screen Mode by using the same shortcut, and your issue should then be resolved.
I tried switching to windowed mode and it still doesn't work. I tried changing the resolution down to the lowest setting and it still doesn't work.
I also tried lowering the graphics setting to low and switching AA off and it still doesn't work
Can you please clarify if you are able to start the episode successfully if you switch over to a blank Save Slot, or does the same issue occur when you are not using your save files?
Same issue occurs if I try switching to a blank slave slot. I can start Episode 1 just fine though.
I'm having the same issue as cyberpunker. I start episode 2, the screen dims to a black screen, but I can still move and see my mouse cursor and hear the game music.
Put me down for getting this error as well, exactly as described. I try to start Episode 2 and just get music, a cursor and a blank screen. Episode 1 works just fine.
I am having exactly the same problem; and the solution given above does not work
Same problem here, every single detail.
I had faced the same issue so I reinstalled the game and ran it again, still same problem. the solution i found was to make sure i installed all patches as well, try installing the patch_2015.3.12.1138. second episode should hopefully run. goodluck.

Where can I download the previous patches? Thanks
Ugh... I've tried all possible troubleshooting suggestions listed here, and, nothing.
Thread: Episode 2 won't load! (black screen)
I've seen another discussion regarding this, but I'm creating a new one so that more attention is brought to this seemingly-common issue.
Basically, when I try to load Episode 2, all I get is a black screen. The music plays in the background, but nothing else happens. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the game & patch, I've gone into windowed mode, etc. No luck.
Please assist!
Thread: Episode 2 will not work!! (black screen)
Starting a further discussion regarding this topic, as it seems to be a common issue for many people and it is very frustrating. I have tried all possible solutions, and none of them work: going into windowed mode, reinstalling game/patch, new save. Some assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
If you were not prompted in-game to download the latest patch for Tales From The Borderlands when starting the game recently, you can also download the latest patch from This Patch Download/Install Thread then follow the instructions in the thread to install the patch, then restart the game, and see if you are then able to start Episode 2 successfully.
Negative.
Unfortunately if you are still unable to resolve your issue with my above suggestion, there may be an issue with your save files. I recommend first trying to back up your save files folder ('Tales From The Borderlands' folder) to your desktop (please make sure to rename the prefs.prop file inside that folder to prefs.prop.bak to disable it), then restart the game, and see if you are able to successfully start Episode 2 without save files in your file directory. Your save files folder can be located here:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\Telltale Games\
If you can start the episode successfully without your save files, your save files may have become corrupted, and will need to be deleted, and you will need to start a new game.
I've uninstalled TWICE and reinstalled it with the patch. I tried your solution of deleting the saves. Still doesn't work. Can I have a refund? I paid for the whole season and it is not working.
Thread: Ep 2 Does not load, only black screen.
I recently downloaded E2, following the instructions to get the required patch etc. I am able to open the game menus, change settings, and view my saves. I can still access E1 and it runs perfectly, but as soon as I try to continue my game in E2 the screen turns black and from there all I can do is move my cursor around a blank screen. I am also able to hear background music but no dialogue or sound effects. I would have expected the game to show a loading screen after I click the "play" button on E2 as well but that doesn't happen either, it's very odd.
I didnt have any problems at all with E1. And have tried changing the resolution, playing it in a smaller window, running the game as an administrator, and other suggestions I've seen on the Support threads. I am not a computer wiz by any stretch of the imagination so perhaps it has something to do with my PC itself, but I would find that strange seeing as it has run numerous telltale games and as I said E1 without problems. I hope someone may be able to help me out with this.

Exactly the same here.
This is not a new problem with Telltale releases - we should probably expect a period of denial followed by a real fix in about six months.
This is what happened with previous games.
I have tried all these options TelltaleMike; none of them work - the episode will not load!! I have reinstalled several times and removed the save files and the episode will still not load. Please can we have a solution that will actually work?!? I paid good money for the title!!
My sincere apologies, if you have tried uninstalling the game to resolve the issue, can you please clarify if your 'Archives' folder was also deleted when you uninstalled the game? You can find your 'Archives' folder in the following location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Telltale Games\Tales from the Borderlands\Archives\
If you still have this folder, and the file's timestamps inside this folder are from before you re-installed the game, you may still have older Episode 2 data affecting the game. I recommend try uninstalling the game one more time, then deleting the above Archives folder as well as your 'Tales From The Borderlands' folder (NOTE: This will unfortunately delete your Episode 1 saves, but the folders will be recreated when you reinstall the game). Then before starting the game, Download and Install the Critical PC Patch. Then start the game while connected to the internet, and download Episode 2 from in-game, and you should be able to successfully start the episode without this issue occuring. Again, my apologies for any difficulties this may have caused you.
Hello,
Same problem. Uninstalled everything, deleted everything - still Episode 2 will not run at all.
I have played a few TellTale Games and there are really great. I would be really grateful if someone here can tell me how this makes sense - a buddy of mine can download a pirated version of this game from a torrent for 20 minutes, installed it it in 4 minutes and run it perfectly without any problem, yet I, who PURCHASED A F***** SEASON PACK have to spend 4 HOURS to do the same and GET THE FINGER IN THE END?
The game is not working - fix it. No amount of reinstalling and deleting and whatnot will fix this - get one of your programmers to fix the code and upload a patch right away. No amount of apologies is going to make up for this. When people do their jobs poorly or do not show up for work, they get fired. Why should I ever give you money again when apparently people on the Internet who crack software and get to be called 'criminals' do a better job than you?
What is your refund policy? I am amazed this has been going on for a week and it still has not been fixed?
I have tried this TelltaleMike and it doesn't resolve the issue, very disappointing!!
I had the same problem and installing TalesFromTheBorderlands_patch_2015.3.12.1138.exe works for me as well.
Same problem here. (PC - no Steam)
I even tried to replay Episode 1 just to see if it isn't a corrupt save file.
However, If I try to start Episode 2, the screen turn black and all what I can do is moving the mouse cursor.
Please fix this problem.
Would you mind telling everyone here where you found this patch? May I even ask for a link?
My increasing suspicion is that the Episode 2 files automatically downloaded from the TellTale servers are corrupted or some of them are missing altogether (it seems versions downloaded from Steam are working just fine). Since TellTale does not seem to care about this problem (and apparently someone took the money and run), can someone who downloaded from Steam and whose game is working, please check if the files in the picture match in terms of size with the same files on your computer in the "C:\Users\username\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales from the Borderlands\Net\" directory?
@Mruvka My apologies for the delayed response. We are currently looking further into the root cause of the issue. If you start Episode 2 and still experience the same issue, could you possibly zip your 'Tales From The Borderlands' folder (including the Net folder) into a .zip file, then upload it to a File Hosting Website, then send the download link to that file in a Private Message to me? (To send a Private Discussion, click on a Username, and click on Private Discussion on the left hand side of the page.)
I have 2 computers and I tried to install the game on the more recent one (as episode 2 was not working on the other one).I downloaded the game from my Telltalegames account and installed it, I downloaded the patch too and then downloaded episode 2 from within the game and it doesn't work either on this computer. It's really a problem cause it means that all the solutions you gave @TelltaleMike won't work because I hadn't anything from the game on that computer (no saves from episode one or any other file).
I hope that you can fix the problem quick. Your games are the only ones I buy because I love them but the fact I can't play since more than a week is very upseting.
Thank you.
I have sent you a link to a .rar archive of the requested files in a private discussion. Let me know, if you need anything else.

Mruvka
We have found the issue, and believe to have now resolved the issue. Please go to the Patch Download/Install Thread, and download the UPDATED PC/Mac Patch installer by clicking the links in the thread. (It should be 39mb in size) Then double-click it to install it to Tales From The Borderlands. Then start the game, and you should be able to successfully start the game. We thank you for your patience, and hope you enjoy the game!
NOTE: You may need to clear your web browser's cache/history in order to begin downloading the updated file. You can also try using a different web browser to download the patch file from)
Works perfectly! Thank you very much for your support!
Apologies for letting my nerves get the better of me.

Mruvka
