  • My phone is Note 4 by a way.

  • Thread: episode 2 content failed to download

I bought the episode 2 already on Amazon for 4.99$ but when I try to download it from the menu Episode in game that show episode 2 purchased but not downloaded, the content failed to download. I was charged for 4.99$ but I got nothing. Please reply me AsAp. 4.99 is not a big due but I like this game and I want to play more.

  • I have the same problem:

purchased the season pass on my Samsung Tab S 10.5 with Android 5.0 and the latest game version 1.31 through Amazon from the in-game episodes page. Episode 2 and 3 read "purchased, but not downloaded". Once i click on either episode to start the download, the download dialog pops up ("Updating Content" - "downloading from server") with a slowly moving progress bar but no time or completion status. Shortly after that, there is a status at the right-hand side of the progress bar reading "Nan %" and a new pop-up window appears reading "FAILED" - "content failed to download".

This also happens when trying to do the same on my Samsung Galaxy S3 with Android 5.1 and game version 1.31 and with different internet connection types, both WiFi with excellent connection right next to the router and via cable tethering through my laptop connected by Ethernet.

Since the log-in to the Telltale account works without any problems and every other internet connection works perfectly, it appears the problem is with the connection to the download servers. Is this a general problem, currently? Or does this only affect certain hardware/software combinations?

From other threads I gather this seems to be a cross-platform problem and PC/Mac users already received a patch. However, not everybody seems to be afflicted. It would be great to get a solution for our problem and to learn why this happens, at all.

Well, this is depressing. All I read about when looking the forums for the solution to this SERIOUS problem is lots of deadends and refusals by Telltale to offer any solid solution other than "Uninstall the app and reinstall again".

I downloaded the App from Amazon appstore yesterday. It is the most up to date version. The app was perfectly happy, capable and quick to take my money via in-app purchasing, but seems utterly incapable of downloading a single paid-for Episode from Telltale.

The order of events I follow is:

    1. Click Episodes
    2. Screen says "Season Pass Purchased". Select Episode 2, which reads "Purchased but not downloaded"
    3. Dialog box reads "Updating Content: Downloading from Server..."
    4. Roughly a second later I get the "FAILED Content failed to download. OK."
    5. Rinse. Repeat.

OK? Well, you know what? It isn't ok. It isn't ok that the good name of Game of Thrones is being tarnished by this poor level of support for paying customers. If you are going to have a business model that serves digital content via servers that require authentication, then make sure that those systems are robust enough to manage it. Blaming end users (or ignoring them) when it is blatantly a remote issue is maddening. You have an incredibly talented bunch of writers, artists and coders working for Telltale and they are being utterly let down by their technical and IT departments.

The platform I'm using is an Nvidia Shield Portable, running Android 4.4.2. I've restarted the system. I have 5GB of space on my internal drive and nearly 60GB of free space on an external SD Card. I'm connected via a USB OTG Network cable that routes directly to a 70Mbps Fibre connection. This is able to stream 1080p Nvidia Grid games without a hitch, but apparently it cannot download a simple data file from Telltale's servers. I've also tried installing it on a fresh out of the box Hudl 2 and rebooted my home network, modem and routers. It isn't my internet connection or devices. I guarantee it.

There is only one saving grace to this and that is I've only been ripped off 75% thanks to the 25% sale at the moment, cashing in on all the Game of Thrones goodwill.

So, what do I and everyone else in a very similar looking boat as me, do now? Do we just need to wait for Andy in IT to come and reboot the servers in the morning? It would be nice to have an honest answer, that's for sure. I've wasted 2 hours of my life trying to sort this problem out my end, so it's your turn.

Apologies for the churlish, curt tone of this message, but this issue is completely harshing my GOT vibe right now, and Episode 1 had gotten me right in the zone. And you've got my money too, damnit.

EDIT: Thread was moved to the Android/Kindle forum.

Exactly the same issues as this thread (and numerous others) here:

    https://www.telltalegames.com/support/discussion/94204/can-t-download-episode-2

  • I'm having the same issue except I purchased the season pass...

  • Same exact issue here...

  • same here. nexus 9, 2GB free space and connected via wifi.

  • Same issue so far. Galaxy Note II. :(

  • And still no response from Telltale.

Paying customers that can't use their goods are clearly not a priority. Along with their quality control, presumably.

I sincerely apologize for the delayed response, and any difficulties caused by this. I have made sure to forward all of this information along to the team for further investigation.

Please make sure that you have tried the following suggestions in order to try and get the episode to download successfully (You may have tried a few of them already, but I will post them below regardless):

    1) Make sure your OS is updated to the most recent version

    2) Force stop the application, and then relaunch it

    3) Reset your WiFi settings by turning them Off, and back On then reconnect with the network.

    4) Turn off your device for a few minutes, before attempting to launch the game again.

    5) Go to the device’s Settings Menu, then go to Applications, then Manage Applications, and select the Game Application and tap ‘Clear Data’.

    6) Delete the application from your device, and re-download it from the App Store (Please note that this will NOT delete your save data)

UPDATE: We believe to have resolved the issue. Please try completely closing our of the game, then starting the game application again while connected to a WiFi network, and the game should update and allow you to download Episodes 2 and 3 successfully.

  • Well, it's a pity you didn't respond as quickly as Amazon, because less than 12 hours ago I asked for a refund for the season pass and they refunded me my Appstore coins within less than two hours of the request. Therefore I cannot test if your remote fixes worked. Maybe they did. It does leave a somewhat bitter taste though. It isn't really about the money so much as the experience, and that has been sullied now.

Maybe I'll pick up the game again once all the episodes have been made and hopefully all of the bugs in your distribution have been fixed along with a bit of much-needed polish to the overall game to prevent the audio and graphical glitching that appears to be platform-agnostic.

You're a talented bunch, Telltale, but your upper management needs to sort the quality control issues out by giving you guys some room to breathe.

  • Letting everyone know my issue seems to be fixed.

Clicked Episode 2 to download and it just started "Updating Content: Downloading From Server". My lucky day?

After downloading, clicked the episode name again to install, software auto-restared and Episode 2 is up and running! :D

Hope this happens for the rest of you.
