Minor Relieving Spoiler

edited May 2015 in Game Of Thrones

The Forresters are mentioned in Dancing with Dragons and are a real house. Not much is said really:

"...guides Lady Sybell [Glover] had given them, trackers and hunters sworn to Deepwood with clan names like Forrester and Woods, Branch and Bole." (A Dance With Dragons, Chapter 42)

-Asha Greyjoy

Its also said that Stannis will march past their House through Deepwood Motte on the way to Winterfell. A Dance With Dragons happens after the games current time line which means the Forresters seem to have defeated the Whitehills since they're pressing on against The Boltons. Perhaps Rodrik is still alive and some has sent some men out to aid Stannis against the Boltons for Ethan's death and it did say House Glover (Forrester's overlord)

Comments

  • This means nothing, because the books and show are different, and considering how the Forresters aren't important, anything can happen to them.

  • important, anything can happen to them.

Wouldn't say that. Since their clan name is still Forrester we know they're at least active and have enough men to send out to help Stannis

  • The show and the books are different. Using the books as your argument doesn't work.

  • Who's really to say The Boltons haven't done wrong to House Forrester? It could have happened in the book time line

  • Exactly. "Could have". The truth is, we don't know what will happen to the Forresters in the game.

  • I was speaking of The House not specifically the characters. The Rodrik thing was just a theory

  • The game is based on the TV show universe

Minor Game of Thrones Seasons 4 and 5 TV Spoilers...

While everyone is right in saying that we have no idea what will happen since the show and books are in two different universes, I think it would be awesome if in season two (season two is basically guaranteed since HBO and TTG are in a multi-year and multi-season contract,) the surviving Forresters rally behind Stannis. It would fit into the timeline since season one of the game is supposed to end right before the events of season 5 of the television show begin, and that's right around the time Stannis makes it to the wall.

Though people are saying the books and the show/game are different, it doesn't seem to make sense that TTG would deviate from literally the only source material they have regarding the Forresters.

  • But there isn't anything to base it on... That source of material is a handful of sentences, if you would even call it that. As far as the television show's universe goes, the Forresters are defined in this game, not in the books, and I'm glad its that way.

  • Not to mention the state of the house is never mentioned in that one passage. How do we even know its not just the remnants fighting for Stannis? We don't know, the only thing ever stated is that they are a house, the end. Plus as stated before, the show has made some significant deviations from the books, so really this means nothing. House Forrester is still more or less hanging in the balance, and even if they do end up surviving to that point, who will even be left? We shall see soon enough I guess.

  • Of course it makes sense. They can figure out other things to do with the Forresters if they wish.

We know they're still standing by A Dance With Dragons. House Glover (overlord of House Forrester) selected members from House Forrester directly.

Is this a guess or hard fact?

  • I suppose, but who is even left from the game? No idea, Telltale if they want to, could utterly obliterate the entire house by the end, and that wouldn't really mess with continuity with the show, so really there is no definitive thing that says they will survive.

  • The show is based off of the books. Key words:based off of. That does not mean it has to follow every single little thing, I don't know why some people don't understand that! The show is it's OWN universe. Where is Jeyne Poole in the show? What about the rest of the sand snakes? Or Victarion Greyjoy? They aren't there, because the show doesn't stick to the books 100%! Sorry if I sound like an ass, it's just that a lot of people clearly don't seem to get what a television adaptation really is.

It's "A Dance with Dragons", not "Dancing with Dragons".
